Talian's timid eyes saw the cracks, but he wasn't sure what exactly he saw beneath them until Erisi fially, at long last, spoke. His words were grating and cruel on the healer's ears, sending Talian's pronounced emotional side into a panicked, whirling frenzy. Not only was he about to lose his best friend - one of the first friends he'd ever truly had - but he was going to be told off in the process!
If anything, this made Tal feel even worse. He briefly wondered if staying had been worth it, but the thought never really took firm hold. Even in this situation, or a hypothetical one in which everyone abandoned him, did he think he could gather up the moxie to take poison again. Or drop between. Or anything.
So he just sad there, eyes widening and lips becoming thin and downturned in stressful anticipation. He took one small comfort in Erisi's words, though; they revealed that, in spite of everything, Erisi cared for him.
"I don't know how else to apologize," he said softly, his voice still quivering like an insect stuck in a gossamer spinner's web. "I couldn't even stand getting out of bed in the morning. I- Shards. The only time I'-m ever happy is when I'm with you two, or B'jin..." he said, his own sad emotions draining from his voice in favor of a sort of void.
"Valerian is right," he said softly, his seriousness revealed in his usage of Val's full name. He supposed he owned that explanation to Val one day as well. "...We're stuck here together. I'm sorry I forgot that. I don't think any of us should forget that now. I...I couldn't think. It's like I was dead on my feet , all the time..." he said. He frowned and started clutching at the bedsheets again in effort to keep an outburst at bay.
"I don't know what else to say Eri, other than I promise to never hurt you again. I don't suppose you have to believe me. But...if you want to leave, I won't stop you..."
