Hello loves! While I haven't been writing, I have been working on updating some issues that have been hanging around on the layout! The Character change box is now at the bottom of the page, beside the up/down arrows! Green and Gold dragon flight dates have been shifted to the bottom of the page, where the (useless!) discord widget was located. Where the dragon flights were in the header, is now replaced by a Monthly Event box! This will be updated at the start of each month, with a fun mini-event you can take part in, if you want to! Quilriana was silent as she listened carefully to the explanations she had asked for. Chores, an education, and free time? That didn’t sound so bad. Weyr life, however, would have its downsides and while R’nya didn’t mention anything in detail, she wasn’t naïve enough to think they would be things to simply brush away. The simple fact that a day in the market could turn into a night like she just had because they were from a Weyr was more than enough to give her pause and consider things. Not to mention her daughter was still young and impressionable. While Quilriana didn’t hold anything against the women of a Weyr – in fact, some days she even envied them with their freedom to be a bit more open and who they wanted to be – she wasn’t sure she wanted her sweet Quilista losing her chance at being a lady of a nice cothold and living out her adorable dreams of pretty dresses and parties.
Still, there were other options open to her, especially as R’nya continued to talk and revealed quite a surprise. “Really? All of the Weyrs will be active again? Oh, my father will be so pleased that it will happen again in his lifetime.” She was truly happy for the dragonriders finding their footing again and spreading back out across the lands, making their presence felt and known once more, though she could only imagine the clean-up needed in each location of debris, beasts and humans, and memories.
A little giggle escaped when R’nya confirmed he would be running a Weyr with Rhaedalyn at his side. He shared stories of her here and there and Quilriana knew Xyreith had won all of the gold dragon’s flights thus far so it was easy to see a connection of sorts between the two. It was funny how she didn’t even think about the goldrider and the stress R’nya would be under with dealing with both of his women in one Weyr when she considered abandoning the hold life for that of the Weyr.
“Sorry, sorry. Just some random thoughts going through my head,” she explained softly before sobering and biting her lower lip in thought, still working out ideas and what was possible. Finally, she cupped R’nya’s cheek again, brushing her thumb lightly over his skin, and smiled at him, forgoing the issues for a moment to congratulate the man on all of the upcoming changes. “I think you will be a wonderful leader, Ren. The dragonriders have a bright future once more and you’ll be one of the ones that help lead them there. I can’t think of many people better for such a task.” R’nya was clearly a man that didn’t want the power of leadership but he had the qualities for it and people would listen to him. He was respected and could convince people to do things easily. Her own son idolized the bronzerider and willingly did chores and errands when asked by him despite making a fuss earlier when asked by his mother.
That thought brought Quilriana back to the initial fears of the future. “R’nya, when Fort Weyr is established, will you promise me something? Bring Quinvalis there to live. He would love to be around dragons, see you and Xyreith in action more, and maybe one day he’ll Impress.” The Weyr would be a good place for her son but for her daughter and herself, perhaps relocating to Fort Hold or working in the kitchen for Harper Hall would do them well.
