Hello loves! While I haven't been writing, I have been working on updating some issues that have been hanging around on the layout! The Character change box is now at the bottom of the page, beside the up/down arrows! Green and Gold dragon flight dates have been shifted to the bottom of the page, where the (useless!) discord widget was located. Where the dragon flights were in the header, is now replaced by a Monthly Event box! This will be updated at the start of each month, with a fun mini-event you can take part in, if you want to! “Of course,” Quilriana replied with only a fraction of the usual confidence she exuded but quickly stepped away from R’nya with a frown. “No… I don’t know,” a few quick steps brought her to her window where the light breeze of the night brushed against her face and Quilriana took a deep breath and let it out slowly, calmly. The window didn’t face out the front so whatever R’nya had done with the men wasn’t in view and she was just as glad for it. She didn’t want to remember the encounter and it startled her a bit with how little she cared over what became of them. For all she knew Xyreith had decided drunk human was a new delicacy and was enjoying a late snack.
Tonight made her realize that while her family had always supported the dragonriders back in their prime and again when they reappeared, that there were still people not happy with the revival. The Lord Holders had come around and even the Halls were starting to be open-minded once more but some of the small town jerks and those that were entitled and felt like they would be cheated out of their share of whatever it was they desired that day were still around and ready to make their opinions known and take back what they felt had been robbed from them. She never thought of herself as one of those things simply because she took enjoyment in the company of a bronzerider. He was kind, funny in his own way, and great in bed. It wasn’t like she was such a great prize for any hold bred men anymore. She was widowed with two children without any inheritance for her son to even lay claim to.
And now she was sleeping with a dragonrider.
Had she truly thrown away her children’s futures because she didn’t want to deal with her brother-in-law and the rivalry that would be pushed on her son and his cousin? Would her daughter now have to serve ale to drunk men like her mother because they couldn’t afford to send her to a proper Hall and away from the brewing mischief in Telgar? Would she now always have to worry about men – drunk or sober – accosting her, insulting her, or flinging accusations about her children or threatening harm on them?
Any tears and hysterics she may have had over the attack were now gone and replaced with anger. She had always known the tavern was to go to her brother and his children and she was only living on borrowed time, so to speak, but now, Quilriana knew she had to set out on another path.
Turning back to R’nya, eyes set with determination, Quilriana studied him for a moment though this time it wasn’t to scan for any bruises or cuts. The man was sexy as hell and sure about himself and his place in the world; which was at the top of the food chain. With her usual confidence returned, Quilriana strode back to the bronzerider, cupping both of his cheeks in her hands and planted a hard heated kiss to his lips. She would properly show her attraction to him and appreciation for the help soon but first, she had questions.
“Tell me more about the new Weyrs. What is living in Katila or Telgar like? The kids… what do they do to help out, their place in everything?” Quilriana guided R’nya to a chair, sitting him down so she could steal his lap and effectively trap him there. She knew he enjoyed conversation and she had always been quick to pick up on topics that he didn’t want to discuss so she didn’t think there’d be any issues tonight but she still didn’t want him getting distracted and finding a way to change the conversation until she had a few more answers to help build decisions on.
