N'del was beginning to hope B'jin survived his surprise planning without popping from sheer excitement before the actual surprise. B'jin had obviously been planning his surprise for sometime now and N'del had to give him credit for being able to maintain his secrecy with his mate. The other man's wavering smile worried N'del for a moment, but he quickly relaxed again when his offer of the use of his room was accepted. He nodded, a lower watt smile of his own firmly in place.
"I'll ah meet you there." N'del agreed with B'jin's quickly vanishing back. He moved hastily toward his room, maybe not at quite the pace B'jin set, but noticeably faster than his usual stroll. He swung open his room's door, moving toward the discarded pile of clothing. He doubted he had more than a few minutes for tidying and nudged the garments beneath his bed. It wasn't as if B'jin would be going under there. After tugging his blankets into a neater pile he cleared his small table of a wine skin and a few odd bits of harness. It obviously wasn't the room of a neat freak, but now he wasn't going to feel too embarrassed about having B'jin over.
N'del spun around at the knock, moving aside to give B'jin access to the table. The food he'd brought looked and smell good, surprisingly so. He glanced outside his door before swinging it shut. He wasn't quite sure what he'd do if R'nd came poking about, other than attempt to stall him. "Em can you keep an eye out for R'nd?"Yes alright, but you will owe me a bath and oiling later. N'del agreed without protest as he took a seat at the table, it felt a little odd to be having someone serve him a meal in his own room, but he shrugged it off as he examined what B'jin had prepared.
"Looks like you've been working on this for a while." He commented, taking a few moments to admire the sweets, roasted wherry, and fruit salad. Everything looked delicious, but in the end it was taste, not looks that mattered the most. Although he was tempted to start the little cakes first, N'del went the traditional route and sliced off a bite of roasted wherry. He popped the piece into his mouth, feeling rather self conscious with someone watching him eat with such intensity. I was good, not over cooked and still juicy, if maybe a little spicy for his taste, but he had always clung to his less exotic northern tastes, despite the wider variety of spices in the South. He smiled up at B'jin, "Cooked perfectly B'jin, spicier than I am use to, but you probably know R'and's tastes a lot better than I do." N'del followed up the Wherry with a mouthful of salad, nodding his appreciation, he wasn't generally a big fruit eater, but the combination of fruits was nice after the spicy wherry meat. What he was really looking forward to were the deserts and now that he'd tasted the meat and salad it now seemed appropriate to move onto the little cakes B'jin had prepared.
Maintaining as unreadable expression as possible N'del sampled each of the cupcakes. He was enjoying his role as a taste tester and keeping B'jin in a bit of suspense was highly amusing. Finishing with a bite of the fruit laced muffin, he steepled his fingers beneath his chin. "Well B'jin I'm not quite sure how to put this."Oh stop teasing the boy N'del. His Green chided him during a pause. "The cakes were delicious." He said with a smile, holding up one finger to forestall an outburst. "The fruit one was a little dry, but I'm sure a minor adjust to your recipe would fix that."
