Gabrin still hadn’t decided if the boy was always so diligent in his work or if he was playing it up to stay in his good graces but he didn’t overly care either way. Tasks that were set to him were completed properly and in a timely manner and Ekshan always turned up presentable whenever he was needed and that was more than enough for the young lordling. After all, it was more of a game to him than anything else, even if he was playing with the livelihood of someone else. Ekshan seemed happy enough with the current arrangements as he was learning new skills, was away from the mess of a farm, and was able to explore his sexual interests a bit more. There was always the risk he’d be found boring or unwanted at any moment but for the time being Gabrin was still happy to keep Ekshan around. If he was kinder, he’d perhaps tell the man that to reassure him but it never really crossed his mind.
Instead, Gabrin focused on other matters like tossing back the last of his drink, setting the glass down on a flat surface, and making himself at home on the edge of Ekshan’s bed. One leg crossed over the other and Gabrin loosened the ties of his shoe in a slow and methodical manner, purposely drawing out telling what he had learned. By the time he started on the second shoes, he was ready to begin. “A dragonrider popped up again, as they enjoy doing lately.” The first shoe was toed off and left lying on its side where it fell. “Naturally he was attempting to earn favour yet again but this time, there was a new approach. Interested in how?” Of course the boy was interested; that was how he had snagged Ekshan in the first place. The farm boy had initially come to town looking for information on their return and Gabrin had been kind enough to answer all the babbling tossed his way.
The second shoe was removed and left to fall where it wanted like the first and Gabrin slid further onto the bed until his back was against the wall and his feet were swung up onto the bed and crossed at the ankles. He was very much at home and considering it all technically belonged to him, Gabrin didn’t care if Ekshan had an objection to him occupying the bed as he wished. “There is to be a Hatching in roughly fourteen days, Ekkie, and I am invited.”
