Aradissicath was handling the entire affair rather well in Rhaedalyn’s opinion. She sat mostly quietly, swatting at Xyreith was the bronze pushed his luck too much here and there but she didn’t storm across the sand to eat anyone or any of their firelizards. It was a grand success in the goldrider’s books! Or, it was until a particularly excited fellow kicked one of the eggs. The low rumble that came from Aradissicath actually startled Rhaedalyn enough that the girl took several steps away from the great gold before collecting herself and putting her foot down. “You will not eat him for that, Aradissicath.[/i] It was a battle of wills for much longer than Rhaedalyn would have liked. She didn’t have the confidence in her abilities to control the dragon and it was terrifying to think what would happen if the gold had the stronger mind in their connection. In the end, Aradissicath backed down but mostly due to the newly bonded boy nearly dragging his hatchling off the sand and sneaking out of view.
Thankfully, everything else seemed to go rather smoothly and Aradissicath calmed down once more though it seemed like she wanted to go check on the whining bronze. He’s clearly of Xyreith’s making. I am made of sterner stuff. Rhaedalyn giggled at the comment and glanced at Xyreith but didn’t say anything to the bronze pair, especially not when R’nya caught her off guard with the kiss to her cheek. She blushed and looked at her toes, fingers suddenly playing with each other. She hadn’t expected that!
Fret later, dear. More of dear eggs are anxious to greet the Weyr. Aradissicath was still sad over losing her reason to spend time on the quiet Sands but she was warming up to the idea of showing everyone how amazing her clutch would be and nosed the girl into watching as a foot appeared from Hallucination before it quickly slipped back inside the shell. It seemed like the egg was living up to its name as some people squinted and rubbed their eyes as if unsure they actually saw a dragonet about to hatch. It was doubly confusing when Illusion unknowingly copied its sibling and stuck a foot through the shell and pulled back to hide again.
Everything seemed to fall silent for several minutes as everyone kept watch on the two eggs near each other, waiting for one or both to show themselves. It was finally Pensive that broke the silence and scrambled free of his shell. Despite the quickness of his appearance,Pensive stayed sitting in the remains of his shell as he looked around at everyone standing around him and in the stands. There was a lot to take in and he wasn’t in any rush.
Finally, more shells started to break away in larger pieces andHallucination and Illusion appeared only to stare at each other for several seconds. As if an agreement had been made, they jumped for each other, tumbling in a ball of limbs with chirps of delight coming from them both. It seemed like a fight, but the little blues were playing and managed to roll quite a bit towards a group of boys. Neither seemed interested once they ran into one. The Candidate jumped back, afraid of what two dragonets might do to him, but both Hallucination and Illusion had other ideas as Illusion chased Hallucination passed Indivara, around Firah, and into the two boys that they finally Impressed to. Rhaedalyn stared at what she just witnessed and silently wished their bonded good luck.
Fantasizer egg had taken that time during all the commotion to wriggle enough that she finally emerged to little fanfare. In fact,Fantasizer had enough time to find her own lifemate and Impress to one of the younger boys on the Sands within moments of the playful blues. She was quietly led off from the group to fill her belly with food that sounded better and better with each wobbling step.
AsPensive continued to consider what he wanted and who he wanted, the prized egg that every young lady and most bronzeriders were interested in finally started to break open. Quirky wobbled to and fro and eventually toppled over where it stopped moving all together. Rhaedalyn held her breath as she willed it to move again and only when she started to feel light headed from actually forgetting to breathe, did the shell start to break away as Quirky made her debut nose first. Her head was free a moment later and soon she was wriggling her bum through the hole that wasn’t big enough before it finally shattered away, freeing the little girl. A squawk of triumph filled the air and shaky legs were tested by spinning in a circle twice and then jumping on the spot three times. Satisfied, Quirky walked towards the girls that were cooing and shushing each other into behaving simultaneously.
Walking was clearly too slow forQuirky and she was soon sprinting, heading right for Tavynia but at the last second, Quirky turned and ended up running head first into Alerae, knocking the woman down. Quirky got to her feet first and trotted up to Alerae’s face to stare down at her. Disappointed, Quirky spun around, kicking up some dirt as she continued on her trek that had her doing a lap around Sennia before finally stopping at one of the quieter girls in the group and Impressing.
Rhaedalyn smiled brightly as the gold pair made their exit and spun around to give Aradissicath a hug. “She survived and she’s full of so much energy! Definitely your baby, Dissi. We’ll have to meet her later.” Her reservations about other goldriders was momentarily forgotten in the joy of a new gold dragon gracing their numbers. She had been so much fun to watch, but those poor girls; she knew the disappointment and wished them all happiness and luck as they left the Sands.
Once Upon a Time was knocked over by Myth as it tried to break free. Instead, it only served to assist Once Upon a Time in the struggle as the impacted side crumpled away and a green hatchling rolled free.Once Upon a Time found her legs and walked a very uneven line that weaved her one way and the other until she finally fell, face-planting in the sand. As someone helped her to her feet, Rhaedalyn giggled at the memory of Aradissicath Impressing to her with a nose covered in sand from the same thing happening. What wasn’t so funny was the helpful boy wasn’t meant for Once Upon a Time as the little green wobbled her way to the boy behind him and they left together.
Pensive finally felt it was time to Impress. The brown got to his feet and with his head held high moved first towards Ryvian and then continued his stroll by Firah and finally to a boy standing in the back of the crowd, as if he hoped to be overlooked. Unfortunately for him he had Pensive staring him down from behind and the boy slowly turned and nodded, clearly answering a question that the brown hatchling had posed. Pensive led them off to the feeding area.
Myth wasn’t happy about still being inside the egg and muffled squeaks of protest were heard coming from within. Finally, with enough motivation, Myth got moving again and bashed into Phantasm which freed them both and sent green hatchlings sprawling.Myth found her legs first and stood proudly to show off her victory over the horrible eggshell and wasted no time in finding her bonded so she could tell her tale of how she won the battle on the way to getting her a victory meal.
Phantasm was a bit slower to stand but once she was, there was no stopping her. At the sound of someone laughing at her entrance into the world, she took off running towards them and jumped at them, sending the boy to sprawl on his back with a very smug green suddenly sitting on him. It wasn’t so much fun, now was it? For a moment it seemed like Phantasm would leave the boy alone and find someone able to control her to Impress to but when she got off of the boy and he stood up, he sighed and then laughed. Together they left as another odd but successful bond.
Never in a hurry but not one to want to be left behind either, Romanticist was heard tapping against its shell until a small hole turned into a larger one. A blue head peeked out and it wasn’t long before he was fully released from the shell.Romanticist sighed as he looked around. So much to see! The sand was given a sniff and admired, his shell was poked at, and the sky was given a long view. When it seemed like the tiny blue was going to sit there all day, Romanticist finally stood up, walked several feet and sat again to stare at some of the fully grown dragons standing off to the side. Finally, with a cheerful chirp, Romanticist continued towards the group that had caught his attention before getting distracted and a boy knelt down to pet him and lead him away.
