Telrynd had been in bed for hours since he had promised to help his mother in the crèche first thing in the morning. He didn’t have a preferred time for bed but when the call to dress and get onto the Sands came, the young man found himself thankful he had settled into an early to bed routine as of late. Grogginess lingered as he tossed on his robe and laced up his shoes but by the time he reached B’jin to be judged for approval, Telrynd felt he was one of the most wide awake there. Even B’jin seemed in a foul mood because of lack of sleep.
He couldn’t help himself but with that thought, Telrynd scanned the area for R’nd and wondered if he was to blame for the Weyrlingmaster’s sorry state. Given the bluerider’s current state, it was hard to tell what they had been up to and if R’nd was tired, smug, or excited. The man was so easy to read nearly every time he was seen but sometimes he had too many emotions going on at once to accurately portray one. Telrynd decided to go with the belief that R’nd lacked in sleep but the excitement for another Hatching overruled everything else.
He nodded in thanks for passing the test and wandered onto the Sands, scowling a bit as he kicked some of the accursed wet sand into a shoe. It would have to stay there for the time being since Telrynd had no interest in walking back off to fix the issue or hopping around on one foot while he dumped out the shoe as he waited for eggs to crack. He wondered how long he would have to wait for that to happen anyway. From the few he had observed, the timing was all up in the air and the eggs could be quick about or be rather mean and make everyone wait all day for their appearances to be made. Given the hour, Telrynd hoped for the former but expected the latter. It wouldn’t matter if he was lucky enough to bond with one of those magnificent creatures.
