"Kuminari?" he asked. He lifted a brow and smiled. Ah yes, he'd heard of that girl. She sounded like quite the snooty little one, but not the fun kind. From the stories I'shan had heard, Kuminari was too hard to get ruffled to really be much fun....and teasing was all snooty girls like that were actually good for. I'shan didn't have a problem with the girl, he just saw no reason to try and meet her; she sounded like no fun at all.
Of course, he knew all this second hand. Searchriders had a tendency to gossip. He laughed easily and shook his head. "I wouldn't worry about whatever it is she said," he replied. "There are always people who think they're above everyone else because of their breeding or self-imposed morals...those people are just missing out," he said with a dismissive, almost derisive shrug. "People are bound by all sorts of rules in Hall and Hold. Who can marry who, when it's appropriate to wear what, who can sleep with who...Around here, it doesn't matter. I know that means a lot to some people..."
He didn't add in 'especially girls', but he knew it was true. The poor things faced all kinds of stigma and restrictions back in the North. If a girl wanted to enjoy a swim in the river, why couldn't she? "If she was bothered enough by it to say something to you," I'shan continued with mirth, "you were probably doing something right!"
