R’nd froze almost comically as he was called on the subject of his song and his mouth hung open just the slightest bit to show off his shock. It was painfully obvious V’ler was going to notice everything given the way the man seemed able to dissect conversations and body language as well as he did before calling them out on their stupidity but R’nd had managed to fool himself into thinking his blatantly obvious poem was beyond V’ler’s comprehension and he’d simply enjoy the care taken in finding words that went well together.
He stared for a moment at his feet, finding his shoes to be in excellent condition and made a point to remind Kerrin that the pants he had mended due to a high-energy encounter with B’jin looked brand new and went well with the boots. It was just a shame that his stall tactics wouldn’t work forever and a glance to V’ler told him the clever brat was expecting the answer even though, as he said, he already knew it. It was somewhat pointless to hesitate as much as he was since it was only the two of them in the sparse hut and while V’ler could use words like weapons and knew too much about most people, R’nd suspected some things were kept to himself. Likely, V’ler did that because it was more entertaining to watch other people figure out what he already knew.
“It’s about B’jin. Before you think I’m needy or greedy,” it was always hard to judge how V’ler was going to judge someone and R’nd could see himself being called both things and possibly even bossy just for good measure. “I’m happy with what he tells me and love listening to his stories but I want to know everything about B’jin that he’ll share. I want to… well, know him inside out.” R’nd already had the terrain of B’jin’s body memorized and still loved exploring it but the greenrider’s mind was trickier to navigate.
