“I had a good reason to be,” R’nd smiled at the light teasing. B’jin’s flights had always been a top priority for him once Ayyonth urged him to stop worrying over them and give chase. It had been the only available option of interaction for him since his out-going and flirtatious personality came to a stuttering halt whenever he was around B’jin otherwise. Since their first win together, everything had changed. It really was more the day he found the courage to talk to B’jin in the Square that changed everything and R’nd was eternally thankful for that day, but it didn’t change his desire to be the greenrider’s flight partner. He never remembered much of the flights themselves but the intense joy he had at waking up beside B’jin was the same now as it had been the first time. It was nice having that and even better to see the pleasure in brown eyes when B’jin saw him. “Until you say not to, I’ll always give chase.”
Rell splashed a bit louder as he struggled his way out of the water and then shook off. R’nd felt a couple of drops hit his shoulder but made no comment on it as he poked B’jin’s nose. When his firelizard decided a good towel and bed was his discarded shirt, however, R’nd frowned at the blue when he looked over to see what Rell was up to. “He’s such a little pest,” but a pest R’nd couldn’t fully hate even with all of the drama he had caused. How could he hate something that was like a mini-Ayyonth with the colouring his hide now had? It was completely unfair!
“I heard something interesting from an adorable young lady that I know the other day,” R’nd continued talking, deciding ignoring that little pest was the best thing right then. He’d lose his nerve to say anything soon if he didn’t act right then. It was odd, really, since he loved to spoil his friends and celebrate important days to them but he never liked his own birthday to be public knowledge since while he loved attention and being spoiled, R’nd didn’t want it to be a big deal or cause drama. The way some of his female past lovers bickered over him made him believe a birthday would be dangerous.
Carefully he rolled them over, cradling B’jin’s head so it wouldn’t hit the floor in the move. Leaning on his side, R’nd brushed away B’jin’s bangs and continued to toy with the soft and long blonde locks, almost purposely delaying finishing his thought. He still had the nerve to say it now but he was in a playful mood and could only imagine what B’jin was coming up with in regards to what had been heard and who the woman was. It was probably mean of him but he would end it soon, as his warm smile showed. “I’ve missed all the others, slightly because I worried over asking and slightly because of how private you are but… happy birthday, love.”
Ayyonth rumbled his pleasure at the greeting Larrikith gave him and was soon returning it with a lick to her cheek.Good morning, my lady. He still hadn’t grown out of using the terms R’nd favoured when talking with women but he liked it especially for Larrikith. She certainly wasn’t a well-behaved princess by any stretch of the imagination but Ayyonth loved her attitude and playfulness and that made her the lady of his heart all the same. He paused in further greeting Larrikith as he tilted his head, listening in on R’nd’s usual thought process when it came to saying something important to B’jin. When his silly human finally spit it out, Ayyonth chuckled. Yet again we’ve done well for those two. We should teach a class for dragons that have hopeless riders in need of assistance with their love lives. It would be a huge success.
