R’nd would have smacked his forehead as punishment for what he had done if it weren’t for his holding the sheet in place and B’jin slowly cuddling closer every few heartbeats. How could he have been so foolish as to make such a sudden and unexpected movement, especially while B’jin was relaxed with his guard utterly down? He had learned early on that some actions triggered the greenrider’s sense of self-preservation and he seemed to brace for being struck or yelled at. It was devastating to see when R’nd was a gentle soul and could barely fight – which he should have proven by then with his encounters with S’kef – but it shattered his heart now. An apology was on his lips, as well as an explanation but B’jin beat him to the task with his silent apology. He knew better than to mention anything further on either of their actions or reactions. Still, R’nd felt like he had to work on controlling his emotions when Rell suddenly appeared. It was almost amusing how B’jin seemed to like the small blue more than he did at times, or at least could accept him. He had panicked, worrying the firelizard would share their image together with everyone which would upset B’jin so R’nd solved that as quickly as he could which still upset the greenrider in some way.
At least he had his silly question posed between them as a distraction from the near-disaster he had almost caused. R’nd smiled at the finger poking his nose and stuck his tongue out in an effort to catch the playful digit but missed. He wasn’t really surprised by the answer. It was a little sad that someone couldn’t enjoy that childish ritual but at the same time, the bluerider wanted to believe it wasn’t needed because nothing scared B’jin back then. With his free hand once more roaming over B’jin’s skin, R’nd used it as a temporary distraction from the reason hiding was never needed. A slight frown took over his features at the talk of peasant boys and rich little lordlings and R’nd was reminded of another difference between them and how close he was to protesting not every lordling was a bully.
While his father held a minor Hold that did well enough, R’nd knew there were others in the area that held more lands, had more vessels, and were richer. So while he was once upon a time technically a little lordling, R’nd didn’t like to view himself as such any longer. He never saw B’jin as a peasant either; in fact, in the greenrider ranked higher than him in his opinion. B’jin was older, Impressed before him as well, and held high status positions by being a Searcher and a Weyrlingmaster. R’nd could hate a brownrider as much as the next person but in the end, he wasn’t a colourist and never looked down on greenriders. He was, however, going to focus on the positive like he always did and smiled softly at his lover as his arm came to rest draped over B’jin’s waist.
“Well, I like hiding under the sheets with you.” The teasing touches of earlier hadn’t been forgotten or overlooked and now that the mood around them had relaxed once again, R’nd caved and went in for a slow lingering kiss. A wicked grin was in place when R’nd pulled away reluctantly. “And forget everyone else who doesn’t like the idea of you, a bed, and a sheet.”
Larrikith? R’nd waited a moment to make sure the green dragon had a line on him and if she didn’t, Ayyonth would undoubtedly tell her to tune in or pass the comment along. Thank you. He didn’t elaborate but Larrikith was clever and she likely already knew all the reasons why he was grateful – possibly more than even he knew! The main ones, of course, were for liking him and giving him a chance to be with B’jin and learn more about the private man but also for always letting R’nd correct his messes he made with her rider. Larrikith’s patience was amazing in that regard.
