She dithered in front of the bulletin boards. A small piece of parchment was held in one hand, pin in the other hand, but R'ana was having a hard time fighting her desire to hide from the eyes of the weyr. She shook her self mentally for that. Most would forget about her after dealing with her for this. Really she had nothing to worry about and Shanith had played her last ball to bits held together by sewing and will.
The ad was simple, just a notice that she would be willing to trade labor or smoked meats for scraps of leather and cloth. The condition and color of the cloth didn't matter over much. She had placed similar ads in the past. She had dithered such in the past.
She felt Shanith's attention slip from her and stilled, then felt the spike of excitement. Shanith?
There was silence, and R'ana stepped back, focused on her dragon. She closed her eyes and caught a flash of sky as Shanith launched herself into the air.
She turned, stuck the paper onto the board with the pin in a flurry of motion and dashed from the dining hall, dreading finding out what what Shanith was up to this time. So focused was she on preventing mayhem she missed the slight sense of a task well done from Shanith.
She saw a ball soar, a bright splash of color agaisnt a blue sky. Shanith dove for it and R'ana called her dragon's name again. Shanith caught it, and landed, joy at the midair catch radiating from her. The green landed before she could be told to, careful not to stir up too much dust. R'ana shook her head as she saw the dragon trot over to the game she had interrupted. Hi! I'm Shanith! May I play?
R'ana jogged to the game and spoke quietly. "I hope you don't mind, she's a bit playful." She turned to the dragon to coax her into giving up the ball and added, "I'll get the ball back, sorry about the dragon spit." And the teethmarks. Oops...
HL Edit: there wasn't a date, so I picked a date. It is set 5 days after Krypth's latest flight. Mostly irrelevant to the goldriders, but not to Indi hehe
