Talian nodded in appreciation, though Nejerc's words did not completely dispel Talian's caution. "I should leave before I'm seen," he replied, though he doubted anyone would report him. Many of the other healers had been seeking him out for advice, and several had hinted that if Talian made a subtle effort to care for the Weyrleader or his dragon, they would look the other way. In many ways, this edict merely resembled another of Tsuen's crazy edicts. Few people ever took them seriously, it seemed.
This place was a madhouse. Talian sometimes wondered how long it would be before it crumbled. But maybe that was just his pessimistic side talking.
He turned on his heels and lifted his bags. He started to creep back towards the building, but not before turning around and nodding to Nejerc. "Appreciated. Good luck," he said. He looked off in the direction of the two drunken blueriders; they may well have just been spouting drunken stories, but who knew.
