***WIP character, female blue rider. Still not sure how to add an image...advice and feedback welcome!*** ThistleProse
Name: Aederyn
Pronounced: AID-err-in
Nicknames: Ryn, (pronounced RIN) by those she is close with. Her younger foster sister called he Riri (REE-ree) briefly when they were young, and occasionally her family will still use the term. If anyone else should call her that, they risk personal injury.
Dragon Name:
Dragon Pronounced:
Dragon Colour: Blue
Wing Assigned:
Wing Rank: Wingrider
Primary Rank:
Secondary Ranks:
Place of Birth: A runner station between Fort Hold and Southern Boll. Her parents tend the station and the runners that move messages through it.
Date of Birth: 02.09.720 AL
Searched/Stolen By: Neither. Stolen by her dragon at Impression. She was in the Weyr running messages when the Hatching started. Curious as having only attended a single hatching before at the age of nine turns, Aederyn wanted to stay and watch another. With all of the confusion, she would have needed to stay until afterwards anyway as there were sure to be many more messages to run, so why not? She lingered on the steps to the audience seating area, preferring to stand rather than sit, and among the barely controlled chaos got knocked to the Sands, wherein those eyes, glowing red with hunger, sought her out and claimed her.
Impression Age: 20 turns
Partner: N/A
Eyes: Large, round, and such a dark blue they are often mistaken as brown at first glance, framed by thick but pale eyelashes that match her red hair.
Hair: Rich red-orange that falls in loose but thick, unruly curls when she wears it down. Usually Ryn keeps it pulled into a plaited knot on the back of her head, or in a high ponytail off of her neck; a habit from her runner days, but has been wearing it half-up-half-down lately, in an effort to look less severe.
Height: 5’8”
General Appearance: As befits a runner, Aederyn is thin and mostly leg in her general proportions. She’s muscled in the sinewy athletic manner of her craft, and was mercifully gifted with less bulk around the chest and hips/buttocks, giving her a flatter chest and slim figure, without undue emphasis on her femaleness. However her strength should not be judged on first appearances, as her figure is almost pure muscle and she is stronger than she looks.
Due to spending so much time outdoors her face, shoulders, and arms sport freckles to the point of almost being solid in some places, but she is otherwise pale. Her jawline is sharp, matching her piercing gaze and angular build. Some might consider her pretty, most find her somewhat plain. She isn’t bothered by it much either way.
Dressing Style: Trousers are Aederyn’s preferred style, as skirts and shorts often lead to uncomfortable chafing or getting tangled in excess fabric. A loose, oversized tunic provides freedom of movement, and a soft wherhide belt and ankle-high wherhide boots complete her look. Of course, a belt pouch and belt knife are also always present.
General Character Traits: Aederyn is tough and self-sufficient, quick to think and quicker on her feet. Having spent so much time running so long on the traces across Pern for the first portion of her life, she is perfectly fine being left alone with her thoughts, and in fact, prefers it. She is very much introverted in her tendencies, preferring to spend time alone or among a small group of her selected friends than among a large crowd. Oddly, despite her preference for small groups instead of crowds, she does enjoy Gathers, particularly the dancing. She loves to dance, and the livelier, the better! Her introverted tendencies conflict with Weyr life now, though, and she finds herself at odds between the social norm to be among the other weyrfolk and her inner desire to retreat to her and her dragon’s weyr.
She is opinionated and decisive. She takes things as they come and tries not to spend too much time thinking on a decision before making it. Though, as a thinker, if given enough valid and true information against her current opinion, her opinions can be changed. She is very straightforward, because she doesn’t know how to be anything else. The theories and execution of politics and social conversation elude her, as they were never anything she was particularly exposed to, nor did she have a desire to familiarize herself with them, anyhow. Due to the lack of social experience, she is a bit awkward and finds herself either oblivious to social cues or far overanalyzing them. This results in more anxiety than she would like to admit, and is a part of why she prefers to spend her spare time alone.
She finds it difficult to get close to people because she is unsure how to do so, or finds that she draws herself away when she feels she is connecting with someone. When she does manage to warm up to someone, she is a pleasant sort, grinning broadly and laughing easily. She loves music, but believes in her own mind that she can’t carry a tune to save her life. While she doesn’t have the voice of a firelizard, she does sing well enough to not be painful to listen to.
She keeps a cool head in chaotic situations, able to let her quick thinking and decisiveness rule and carry her through, though afterwards, when she is finally able to take in events, she has been known to fall apart, melting into a quivering puddle of Aederyn.
She is not prone to violence, preferring instead to respond to provocation with a quick, firm, and well-thought out word. If insulted or questioned because of her gender, she makes it a point of proving her worth by doing exactly what she was told she was poor at or incapable of doing because of her sex, and allowing the results to speak for themselves.
Habits/Mannerisms: Aederyn bites her fingernails, particularly if she is uncomfortable. She tries to limit herself to the last two on each hand, however if she’s particularly stressed even the ‘off-limits’ nails are fair game.
Opinions:
Threadfall Theory: It could happen. Better to be safe and prepared than sorry because of a lack of preparation. It seems events are moving that direction. She’ll believe it when it happens, but until then, why not get ready just in case?
Stealing/Kidnapping: While previously against it, 100%, she sees the reasoning behind it for Search. Past that, still not fond of the idea.
Weryrleader S'kef:
Firelizards: Some of the smaller ones are nothing more than pets and annoyances, however the larger ones can be very useful
Women's loss of honourifics:

Father: Ardin, b.690, d. N/A
Rank: holder, master to runner station.
Mother: Nensi, b.694, d. N/A

Younger fosterling sister, Meri, (MER-ree) born 724, apprenticed as a runner at the station her parents tend.
Past Lovers/Partners: Several other runners when she was younger.
Current Lovers/Partners: N/A
Children: One, sort of. She fell pregnant at 17 turns, however the pregnancy did not go through to term and nearly killed her in the process. She would have had a son, had he been carried to term and lived. If she was too young for childbearing, or something just went wrong in the womb or the child was not formed properly, she and her family are unsure, but since then she has been very careful not to fall pregnant again.

Craft Rank: was previously a journeyman runner.

Mastership Obtained: N/A
