Ista Isle is amused by the weaklings of Benden, but at least their heat is dry. Benden is muggy and riddled with heavy thunderstorms and downpours.

Ista is heating up swiftly, and preparing for a rough summer - hopefully nothing like the one from a couple turns before with the wildfires! The rest of Northern Pern is warming upsomewhat slower, but with no less gusto as summer begins to creep into the sky, keeping the sun awake longer, warming the ledges of the weyrs. Rainstorms are sporadic, but keep the world well watered, despite the heat of the days.

The Red Star can be seen by those who choose to see it, causing no shortage of whispers that Thread will return - and just as much dismissal from those who do not believe. After all, it's been so long, surely it is no longer a threat! Weyrleaders are, regardless, beginning to put together wings in their Weyrs, if only to keep troublesome and bored riders busy.

Month 12, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Winter -3 - 2 C | 26 - 35 F
Fort is already home to snowfalls, though early in the month they fade away when the sun rises. As the month progresses, more snow stays on the ground, ending up with several feet of snow before the month is over. The areas around homes and populations has the snow shoveled away or trodden down. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove some danger and are routinely removed.

Ista Boundaries:
Winter, 9 - 21 C | 48 - 69 F
Generally warm enough to go about without a jacket on, Ista has low humidity but high chance of rain, generally in the form of vicious afternoon thunderstorms. The storms wash away any bite of heat the day had, and leave it feeling fresh for the night. The days are short, but grow bright quickly and the afternoons seem to be particularly short when heavy thunderstorms roll in and cover the sky.

Telgar Boundaries:
Winter, -5 - 0 C | 23 - 32 F
Bitterly cold, with icy winds constantly flowing down from the mountains. Freezing rain is almost constant; the sky always a murky grey and the ground slippery with slushy refrozen ice. The days are extremely short, with the nights dropping a good number below the daily average. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove a major danger, and are checked upon every day, with anything bigger than a fist being removed.

Month 07, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Summer 27 - 38 C | 80 - 100 F
Light breezes down from the mountains tot he North keep the temperature comfortable, even when the sun can bake an egg on the edge of a weyr. Sunburn is common.

Ista Boundaries:
Summer, 34 - 43 C | 93 - 110 F
A very dry, dusty heat. Little to no rain, causing more than some to worry about the drought not breaking and the rest of the Isle being at risk of fires. Many seek the depths of weyr, hold or hall during the midday and early afternoon heat.

Telgar Boundaries:
Summer, 26 - 35 C | 79 - 95 F
Muggy, sticky and generally just plain humid. Thunder storms are regular occurances, often happening in the early afternoon or evening, with heavy rainfall before drying off sometime in the night. Mornings are usually crisp, but warm up swiftly.

Month 04, 740 AL
North: Early Spring | South: Early Autumn
−1.9 C to 4.7 C | 20.0 C to 29.0

Spring has sprung, with the snow slowly melting in much of the North, creating mushy grounds and greyish, icy snow piles that are doing their best to melt. In comparison, Ista finds itself naturally warmer, (~10C / 50) and many people who can find rides are making their way to the Island to spend some time in warmth and sunshine, away from the lingering touch of winter.

Katila is beginning to cool down to more reasonable temperature, but is no less muggy and uncomfortable to those who are not used to the seasons. It is still a good place to escape to when seeking a warm day or a nice swim at the lake, though.

Winter has come slowly to the Northern lands of Pern, with more rain and cold winds than snow. As the month progresses, more and more snow will fall, with frequent blizzard-like storms towards the very end of the month. Telgar and Fort will in particular become burried under mountains of snow, while Ista is sunjected to frequent icy rainstorms, and heavy winds coming in from across the ocean.

Following the disastrous fires (sometime in around the 28th of Month 08), Ista Isle has found itself suddenly in the midst of constant rain; not enough to flood, but a steady, dreary downfall that seems to only take a time out for a couple of hours here and there, before coming back again. Its cast the entire sooty Isle into a sombre and depressed mood. Alongside the rain, the weather is muggy and while not hot, is not particularly cool, either.

The rest of Northern Pern is getting their usual weather, though they, too, have been called to action following the wildfires that savaged Ista. Many individuals who called Ista Island home have been relocated not just to Ista Weyr, Ista Hold or Sea Cliff Hold, but also to other areas of Pern, whether with family or friends.

Month 08, 739 AL
North: Late Summer | South: Late Winter
17.4 to 25.5 C | 10.8 C to 23.2 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm - 37 to 45 C - has resulted in an incredibly dry summer, with little to no rain. This was climaxed by a dry thunderstorm, the results of which caused three fires to start across the Island on the 24.07.739 in the early morning hours. While the results of this are yet to be played out, the events will no doubt leave more than just the scarring of the land.

18.0 to 26.6 C | 10.2 C to 21.9 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm, with average weather being in the 37 to 45 C range, making it now a more than slightly undesirable escape for the rest of the Northern population from the more enjoyable early summer weather. There has been very little in the way of rain, though the coastal areas are no stranger to the salty wind. Ista's limited farmlands and fields are dry and dusty, with golden straw instead of grass where there is any growth at all.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Northern areas are still getting a lot of evening rain and the occasional thunderstorms, which cools down the populus and allows them to sleep easily without sweating their brains out like the Istans.

Month 11, 738 AL
North: Late Autumn | South: Late Spring

Autumn is coming to an end, with the days slowly becoming shorter still, with early nights and late mornings. The temperature is getting very cool, with jackets being more required, but it has yet to actually snow. Despite this, it is often raining and miserable.

The Southern contient is in full bloom, with flowers coming to life in the grasses and on the trees. The skies are bright blue with fluffy clouds, and occassional sunshowers bringing a dampness to the day. The nights are still crisp, but not cold. The ground is starting to dry up as water is absorbed by the blooming flora.

Month 10, 738 AL
North: Mid Autumn | South: Mid Spring

Autumn is in full tilt, with the leaves a shocking array of orange and red, and more of them on the ground than on the trees. The skies are often a clear and crisp blue, with a cool breeze flowing, shifting the leaves and sending them scattering. Rain is not common, but when it does roll in the skies are dark like night come early, and thunderstorms are not uncommon, though they don't last for long and the amount of rain that falls isn't too heavy.

Month 09, 738 AL
North: Start Autumn | South: Start Spring

Nothern regions are entering into Autumn, with the trees beginning to change to their reds and oranges, while the air is beginning to feel more crips. There are still more warm days than cool, and the nights are mostly warm enough for light bedding still. Rain has faded away and most days are clear and bright.

The Southern contient finds itself heading into spring, with rain and flowers vying for attention. The ground is often muddy and squishy, while the skies are either bright and blue, or overcast wtih fluffy clouds.

Month 08, 738 AL
North: End Summer | South: End Winter

Summer is winding to an end in the Northern hemisphere, with the weather slowly cooling and the trees beginning to turn their leaves. The days are still long and bright, but the sun is beginning to lose some of its strength.

The coastal Weyrs are falling victim to coastal storms, strong winds and heavy rains with thunder and lightening.

The more inbound Weyrs and Holds find themselves drier, not getting nearly as much rain or storms, they find themselves on the end of a long drought.

Month 07, 738 AL
North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter

Summer is in full spring in the Nothern hemisphere, with the bulk of each day being unbearbly hot, followed by vicious thunderstorms and heavy humidity in the evenings and at night.

The coastal areas are experiencing monsoon like weather, and spend a lot of their time locked away in Hold, Hall or Weyr.

The more inner locations find themselves faced with more dry heat during the day, and horrible humidity in the evening and at night while the thunderstorms rage.

Appearance
Eye Colour:
brown
Height:
5'6"
Hair Colour:
Red
Build:
Thin, Soft
General Description:
With a lean build that isn't overly muscular, Ojassa carries herself with an air of refined elegance. Her legs are long and shapely, and while she is a little busty, she does not look like she's carried two children other than a few subtle stretch marks. She keeps her wavy hair on the long side, either loose or tied back in a simple ponytail.

Ojassa does not smile terribly often unless she is with her children or talking to someone she considers interesting for one reason or another. At the same time, she does not frequently outright scowl either, usually settling on looking moderately perturbed or inconvenienced.
General Dressing Style:
Ojassa has always been fond of looking good, and takes great pride in wearing clothing and dresses that suit and flatter her form, and especially things that show off her legs. She will never allow herself to look dumpy, no matter the occasion.
Madelaine Petsch
Personality
Likes:
Sweets - She doesn't indulge often, she likes to practice a bit of discipline in the form of self denial, but she absolutely loves sweets.
Children - Children are the future and also delightful. She is especially fond of her own.
Strengths:
Forward Thinking - Ojassa is quite good at planning ahead and is willing to make sacrifices in the short term for longterm benefit.
Patient - She's usually rather patient, though surprises and unpredictable people can make her try to rush things and become frustrated.
Discerning - She's rather good at getting at least some idea of a person's capabilities and potential, and being the mother to two boys has taught her to be rather good at spotting lies and trouble.
Forgiving - When the situation calls for it (and is useful) Ojassa is willing to forgive rather than hold onto an unproductive grudge.
Dislikes:
Unpredictable People - They make it so hard to plan.
Surprises - Even if it's a pleasant surprise, she prefers to have some sort of hint about it.
Flaws:
Controlling - She doesn't mind other people in charge, so long as she feels she at least has some sort of influence in what's happening, or at least in her own actions. (She would absolutely prefer to be in charge though). Feeling like she has no control makes her especially irritable and angry.
Forgets Names - It takes her a long time to commit a name to memory.
Classist - She tries not to be a jerk about it, but deep down she does judge people who are "beneath her."
Habits & Mannerisms:
General Personality:
Ojassa craves power and the security that comes with it. While she sometimes seems superficial, especially when it comes to appearances, she understands that true power doesn't need to be blatant. She's dedicated to her work, taking it very seriously, and while she tends to act straightforward when it comes to her duties helping the Weyrwoman, she is very capable of cunning subtlety, and practically evaluating situations.

She's very invested in her children, knowing that while she may not achieve the power and influence she craves, they may, and that is an investment worth doing. She can be a stern mother, but does her best to be supportive of her children, investing heavily in their education and encouraging them to take up useful and productive hobbies. Not normally a woman given to violence, she will defend her children with all the fierceness of a wild feline if it comes down to it.

While she has a hard time caring about people who she perceives as beneath her notice, Ojassa doesn't see that as any reason to be rude. She tries to be polite and pleasant, and while she frequently forgets or even misnames people, she tries to be as charming about it as she can be. People change and she understands that someone she didn't think was interesting could become valuable in the future.

739 and 27 - Ojassa helps with the fires on Ista Isle, doing what she can to set a good example and prove her own usefulness and worth. After the fires are out, Quayleth has her maiden flight, and lays a rather small and unremarkable clutch with no gold eggs. Despite the small clutch, both rider and dragon take pride in a very uneventful hatching with no maulings.
740 and 28 - Thallyath flies and is caught by a blue dragon. Ojassa is horrified by the outcome but keeps her comments to herself, trying to be supportive of a fellow gold rider. She primarily blames the bluerider for the incident.
741 and 29 - Quayleth flies again, once more producing a clutch without a golden egg or even any standout individuals. Ojassa is pleased that the clutch is larger than the last one though.

Education
Details:
Her father invested heavily in her own education with the goal of having her help him run the business with her future husband since at the time they had no sons. By the time Ojassa's brother was born, her parents felt they had already invested too much in her and kept up her education. She's especially proficient with book keeping and the practical side of business, balancing risks and rewards and understanding the logistics behind certain decisions. She's learned to be very forward thinking and calculating as a result.

Weyrlinghood
Starting out life as a rather unremarkable baby, Quayleth was rather sandy in color and could have almost been mistaken for a pale brown.
Quayleth
Adulthood
As she grows into her adult hide, Quayleth begins to bright up drastically becoming a brilliant buttery gold. Overall she is delicately mottled in subtle shades of bright gold, with darker mottling in her wing sails, but there is no mistaking the elegant dragon for anything else now. She is not particularly tall and her build is on the lean side. That combined with wings that are large for her size, allow for easy leisurely soaring and surprising speed when she can be convinced to properly move.
Mindvoice
Surprisingly deep with a soothing quality that can be used to calm even the most excitable dragon or person.
Personality
Quayleth is a rather unhurried dragon, she moves through life at a slower pace than one would expect and she does not like to be rushed. She’s a dragon that likes to see the beauty of the world around her and she will be one of those who will stop to stare at all the wildflowers on the way to her destination. Slow and steady wins the race so to speak, Quayleth will take meticulous action to get what she wants.

A good communicator, Quayleth could be said to be quite loquacious about things. She is a talker, preferring to talk things out in her unhurried way until she comes to a conclusion. She feels that this is the best way to get what she wants. She tends to be rather forthright, preferring honesty and clear speak rather than lies or fibs. She’s almost honest to a fault and will tell those around her exactly how she sees it without much thought to their feelings. Sometimes her talkative nature overcomes even the most patient when it starts to devolve into a long winded gossip session rather than the political discussion it should be.

She is sociable and friendly, something that she might have gotten from her mother, making friends easily, but she can be a fickle thing when it comes to those around her. There are times, especially if a companion leads to disorder and chaos, Quayleth will drop them quicker than a bad habit. Sometimes she gives her affections and takes it away on the same day, but lucky for her, dragons have a short memory and she’s usually forgiven rather quickly.
