Ista Isle is amused by the weaklings of Benden, but at least their heat is dry. Benden is muggy and riddled with heavy thunderstorms and downpours.

9.9 C to 18.4 C | 13.7 C to 24.5 C

Ista is heating up swiftly, and preparing for a rough summer - hopefully nothing like the one from a couple turns before with the wildfires! The rest of Northern Pern is warming upsomewhat slower, but with no less gusto as summer begins to creep into the sky, keeping the sun awake longer, warming the ledges of the weyrs. Rainstorms are sporadic, but keep the world well watered, despite the heat of the days.

The Red Star can be seen by those who choose to see it, causing no shortage of whispers that Thread will return - and just as much dismissal from those who do not believe. After all, it's been so long, surely it is no longer a threat! Weyrleaders are, regardless, beginning to put together wings in their Weyrs, if only to keep troublesome and bored riders busy.

Month 12, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Winter -3 - 2 C | 26 - 35 F
Fort is already home to snowfalls, though early in the month they fade away when the sun rises. As the month progresses, more snow stays on the ground, ending up with several feet of snow before the month is over. The areas around homes and populations has the snow shoveled away or trodden down. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove some danger and are routinely removed.

Ista Boundaries:
Winter, 9 - 21 C | 48 - 69 F
Generally warm enough to go about without a jacket on, Ista has low humidity but high chance of rain, generally in the form of vicious afternoon thunderstorms. The storms wash away any bite of heat the day had, and leave it feeling fresh for the night. The days are short, but grow bright quickly and the afternoons seem to be particularly short when heavy thunderstorms roll in and cover the sky.

Telgar Boundaries:
Winter, -5 - 0 C | 23 - 32 F
Bitterly cold, with icy winds constantly flowing down from the mountains. Freezing rain is almost constant; the sky always a murky grey and the ground slippery with slushy refrozen ice. The days are extremely short, with the nights dropping a good number below the daily average. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove a major danger, and are checked upon every day, with anything bigger than a fist being removed.

Month 07, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Summer 27 - 38 C | 80 - 100 F
Light breezes down from the mountains tot he North keep the temperature comfortable, even when the sun can bake an egg on the edge of a weyr. Sunburn is common.

Ista Boundaries:
Summer, 34 - 43 C | 93 - 110 F
A very dry, dusty heat. Little to no rain, causing more than some to worry about the drought not breaking and the rest of the Isle being at risk of fires. Many seek the depths of weyr, hold or hall during the midday and early afternoon heat.

Telgar Boundaries:
Summer, 26 - 35 C | 79 - 95 F
Muggy, sticky and generally just plain humid. Thunder storms are regular occurances, often happening in the early afternoon or evening, with heavy rainfall before drying off sometime in the night. Mornings are usually crisp, but warm up swiftly.

Month 04, 740 AL
North: Early Spring | South: Early Autumn
−1.9 C to 4.7 C | 20.0 C to 29.0

Spring has sprung, with the snow slowly melting in much of the North, creating mushy grounds and greyish, icy snow piles that are doing their best to melt. In comparison, Ista finds itself naturally warmer, (~10C / 50) and many people who can find rides are making their way to the Island to spend some time in warmth and sunshine, away from the lingering touch of winter.

Katila is beginning to cool down to more reasonable temperature, but is no less muggy and uncomfortable to those who are not used to the seasons. It is still a good place to escape to when seeking a warm day or a nice swim at the lake, though.

Winter has come slowly to the Northern lands of Pern, with more rain and cold winds than snow. As the month progresses, more and more snow will fall, with frequent blizzard-like storms towards the very end of the month. Telgar and Fort will in particular become burried under mountains of snow, while Ista is sunjected to frequent icy rainstorms, and heavy winds coming in from across the ocean.

Following the disastrous fires (sometime in around the 28th of Month 08), Ista Isle has found itself suddenly in the midst of constant rain; not enough to flood, but a steady, dreary downfall that seems to only take a time out for a couple of hours here and there, before coming back again. Its cast the entire sooty Isle into a sombre and depressed mood. Alongside the rain, the weather is muggy and while not hot, is not particularly cool, either.

The rest of Northern Pern is getting their usual weather, though they, too, have been called to action following the wildfires that savaged Ista. Many individuals who called Ista Island home have been relocated not just to Ista Weyr, Ista Hold or Sea Cliff Hold, but also to other areas of Pern, whether with family or friends.

17.4 to 25.5 C | 10.8 C to 23.2 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm - 37 to 45 C - has resulted in an incredibly dry summer, with little to no rain. This was climaxed by a dry thunderstorm, the results of which caused three fires to start across the Island on the 24.07.739 in the early morning hours. While the results of this are yet to be played out, the events will no doubt leave more than just the scarring of the land.

Ista is still unseasonably warm, with average weather being in the 37 to 45 C range, making it now a more than slightly undesirable escape for the rest of the Northern population from the more enjoyable early summer weather. There has been very little in the way of rain, though the coastal areas are no stranger to the salty wind. Ista's limited farmlands and fields are dry and dusty, with golden straw instead of grass where there is any growth at all.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Northern areas are still getting a lot of evening rain and the occasional thunderstorms, which cools down the populus and allows them to sleep easily without sweating their brains out like the Istans.

Month 11, 738 AL
North: Late Autumn | South: Late Spring

Autumn is coming to an end, with the days slowly becoming shorter still, with early nights and late mornings. The temperature is getting very cool, with jackets being more required, but it has yet to actually snow. Despite this, it is often raining and miserable.

The Southern contient is in full bloom, with flowers coming to life in the grasses and on the trees. The skies are bright blue with fluffy clouds, and occassional sunshowers bringing a dampness to the day. The nights are still crisp, but not cold. The ground is starting to dry up as water is absorbed by the blooming flora.

Month 10, 738 AL
North: Mid Autumn | South: Mid Spring

Autumn is in full tilt, with the leaves a shocking array of orange and red, and more of them on the ground than on the trees. The skies are often a clear and crisp blue, with a cool breeze flowing, shifting the leaves and sending them scattering. Rain is not common, but when it does roll in the skies are dark like night come early, and thunderstorms are not uncommon, though they don't last for long and the amount of rain that falls isn't too heavy.

Month 09, 738 AL
North: Start Autumn | South: Start Spring

Nothern regions are entering into Autumn, with the trees beginning to change to their reds and oranges, while the air is beginning to feel more crips. There are still more warm days than cool, and the nights are mostly warm enough for light bedding still. Rain has faded away and most days are clear and bright.

The Southern contient finds itself heading into spring, with rain and flowers vying for attention. The ground is often muddy and squishy, while the skies are either bright and blue, or overcast wtih fluffy clouds.

Month 08, 738 AL
North: End Summer | South: End Winter

Summer is winding to an end in the Northern hemisphere, with the weather slowly cooling and the trees beginning to turn their leaves. The days are still long and bright, but the sun is beginning to lose some of its strength.

The coastal Weyrs are falling victim to coastal storms, strong winds and heavy rains with thunder and lightening.

The more inbound Weyrs and Holds find themselves drier, not getting nearly as much rain or storms, they find themselves on the end of a long drought.

Month 07, 738 AL
North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter

Summer is in full spring in the Nothern hemisphere, with the bulk of each day being unbearbly hot, followed by vicious thunderstorms and heavy humidity in the evenings and at night.

The coastal areas are experiencing monsoon like weather, and spend a lot of their time locked away in Hold, Hall or Weyr.

The more inner locations find themselves faced with more dry heat during the day, and horrible humidity in the evening and at night while the thunderstorms rage.

Trim, fit from hard work at Katila
General Description:
Zarah is fairly proportionate but does have more leg than trunk and stands about five feet six inches, which is a little taller than her birth mother. She has dirty blonde hair that when unbound, falls to mid-back. Her eyebrows are slightly darker and she has blue eyes, high cheekbones, a full bottom lip while her upper is somewhat slim, and Zarah has a slightly square jaw.

General Dressing Style:
It depends on when you catch her, really. She works better in trousers, so finding her in a dress would be something of a special occasion (like Gather), but she usually manages to wear what's clean and considered decent. She has an awful lot of pieces embroidered but usually wears tunics and trousers that are pretty lived in, as she can be found creating glass and clay pieces when she isn't going to another candidate class or doing chores, etc.

General Personality:
She's smart and she knows it but she doesn't flaunt it, though it stands out in her sharp wit and dry humour. Zahrah is one of the most loyal people you'll probably meet, though she left Ista for Benden when it opened. At twenty-seven, she's pretty sure she won't Impress at Ista, so who knows? Maybe Benden will be another shot at a dragon? She's an optimist and continues to be so when the cards aren't particularly in her favour.

Zahrah is fairly superstitious about between and Thread and even if she's more than a little frightened by the Red Star and the whole death from above thing, she's willing to fight the infernal stuff if that's what's demanded of her. It's a brave face, one that will show when it needs to and then some.

Z'reen (Father) - Bluerider (Ista) d.725
Saray (Mother) - Glasscrafter (Apprentice)
Siblings:
None
Relationships:
Dannel (Ex)
Zarel (Daughter)
Alekse (Runner) - fiancé because that's what happened.
Offspring:
Zarel (10yr old daughter)
Secrets:
She thinks fighting dragons are perfect and really wants to Impress one. Let the other ladies have gold. Her father's death hit her really, really hard, so she's determined to Impress. And then she Impressed Gold.
Known:
She's well known for her quick work and excellent craftsmanship in glass and clay and the fulfillment of some weird things people want in glass. Especially ladies.
Important History:
713-Born
Difficult birth. Parents decided to not have anymore children after Saray almost died. They had been trying for quite some time, so they have put in the effort to make sure that Zahrah knows she is loved.
715-720
They move to the Southern Continent, living off the land for a while, and then Katila when the dragons are called together.

Zahrah is delighted with with her mother's glasscrafting (and enjoys playing with clay) but also wants to stand for clutches and someday ride a dragon like her father. She Stands for clutches and does her best to help out around Katila if she can. Otherwise, it's Saray and her kiln, learning and learning.

725-728
14
Rebuilding after the storm is a hard job but Zahrah does so without complaint.
Father Z'reen dies in betweening accident. Saray pours herself into glasscrafting and Zarah keeps herself busy between Candidacy and Impression. She does not Impress, however, but she trains under her mother, helping her at every opportunity.
732
18
Involved with a Candidate, Dannel. Fall pregnant with Zarel. Easy birth, no complications. Dannel and she think of hand fasting but eventually don't. She gets a firelizard egg, one among any others given out, netting her a brown she names Shard. She teaches him all sorts of tricks and he turns out to be an excellent messenger.
734
Late 734, she joins those moving North at Telgar.
736
23
Zahrah opts to go to Ista wh bringing her daughter with her. Her mother decides to come with her.
Mid-736
She helps out to make Ista Weyr livable, like every one else who came and does so with cheerful optimism.

Zee's clay and glasswork, especially her etching and dragon sculptures earn her interest at Gather, which encourages her experiments with clay and her little chip-glass mosaic lamp work.

738
25
Wildfires on Ista Island prove her bravery as she helps everywhere she can and runs herself ragged in the process. She actually helps as a second rider on a brown, helping to pass buckets of water and quench the fires.

And she still hasn't Impressed. While she would miss her mother, she actively looks for a Weyr transfer as a home base, though it takes her two turns when Benden opens up to decide where she wants to go. Something different can also mean a change in mindset.

741-27
Gathers her things (and daughter, Zarel) and moves to Benden as a Candidate. She writes her mother every few days and includes hide sketches of what she's working on. As a parting present, her mother gives her a small oval portrait of her father and his blue.

741-27 (02.14.742) Impresses golden Sedath, something that continues to surprise her.
Lauren German
Education
Details:
Her mother taught her everything he knows about glasswork and while she has no formal education in it, Zahrah produces fantastic art and items that usually go for sale at Gather or are traded for other goods. Her glass and clay dragons are very popular as they have room for small candles that set the artwork ablaze with colour.

She is able to read after doubling down on it with her mother, mathematics isn't her strongest but it works for what she does with her little crafting projects.

The paler creamy shades in her hide spread, bordered by swirls of deeper gold along her legs, belly, and upper surface of her wings with a sharper swirl on the underside. Her head, the back of her neck, and most of her tail are a warm shade of gold.
Mindvoice
Bright and bouncy when she's happy, though it quickly can turn petulant and pouty when she's upset.
Personality
Sedath is a charming dragon who knows she's gorgeous. She enjoys flirting with bronzes, only the best will do for her after all! And she deserves the best in all things as far as she's concerned. Despite her prissy nature and her tendency towards vanity, Sedath is very loving and affectionate towards those she's close to. She's not very chatty with other people, considering herself too good for such trivial communications, but she will eventually make an exception her rider's family.

Despite her rather delicate and fussy demeanor Sedath is not one to shrink from trouble and is able to face even things that concern her bravely.
Quirks
Mannerisms: Sedath squints a lot, whether from worry, disappointment, confusion, suspicion, curiosity, or even just quietly thinking to herself.

Likes:
Dancing - Sedath loves to watch people dance, there's just something so lovely about it.
Mirrors - It's nice to be able to clearly see herself in their reflection.
Trinkets - Sedath loves trinkets with all of their lovely little colors and pretty shapes. She especially loves when they're used to decorate those she cares about or herself.

Dislikes:
Swimming - Sedath doesn't like swimming or getting overly wet. She'll bathe for cleaning, but even that isn't something she enjoys; she puts up with it as a necessity.
Mud - Sedath hates being dirty because it means she has to be cleaned more, but mud is especially offensive since it's so much harder to remove and it just feels awful and gross.
Trinkets - While Sedath does like trinkets she only likes certain ones, the ones that look the best of course. Unfortunately her tastes fluctuate and a bauble she loved one day could be despised the next for being too gaudy or just wrong for the look she's feeling.

Strengths:
Brave - Sedath is a confident dragon, but even when she's unsure she's willing to bravely face whatever uncertainty or fear that is in her way.
Forgiving of those beneath her station - She's willing to forgive honest mistakes from those who are beneath her station. She doesn't have the same expectations for those dragons as she would of someone of her station, and understands that mistakes can happen.

Flaws:
Arrogant and Vain - The easiest way to upset Sedath is to say her pale decorated hide is anything except gorgeous. She thinks so highly of herself that she sometimes ignores outside advice, thinking that she knows best.
Prissy - A prim and proper lady, Sedath frequently finds herself aghast at rude behavior, especially about anything she deems inappropriate or nontraditional. She's easily offended by such transgressions, occasionally taking them far too personally.
