Ista Isle is amused by the weaklings of Benden, but at least their heat is dry. Benden is muggy and riddled with heavy thunderstorms and downpours.

North: Late Spring | South: Late Autumn
9.9 C to 18.4 C | 13.7 C to 24.5 C

Ista is heating up swiftly, and preparing for a rough summer - hopefully nothing like the one from a couple turns before with the wildfires! The rest of Northern Pern is warming upsomewhat slower, but with no less gusto as summer begins to creep into the sky, keeping the sun awake longer, warming the ledges of the weyrs. Rainstorms are sporadic, but keep the world well watered, despite the heat of the days.

The Red Star can be seen by those who choose to see it, causing no shortage of whispers that Thread will return - and just as much dismissal from those who do not believe. After all, it's been so long, surely it is no longer a threat! Weyrleaders are, regardless, beginning to put together wings in their Weyrs, if only to keep troublesome and bored riders busy.

Month 12, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Winter -3 - 2 C | 26 - 35 F
Fort is already home to snowfalls, though early in the month they fade away when the sun rises. As the month progresses, more snow stays on the ground, ending up with several feet of snow before the month is over. The areas around homes and populations has the snow shoveled away or trodden down. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove some danger and are routinely removed.

Ista Boundaries:
Winter, 9 - 21 C | 48 - 69 F
Generally warm enough to go about without a jacket on, Ista has low humidity but high chance of rain, generally in the form of vicious afternoon thunderstorms. The storms wash away any bite of heat the day had, and leave it feeling fresh for the night. The days are short, but grow bright quickly and the afternoons seem to be particularly short when heavy thunderstorms roll in and cover the sky.

Telgar Boundaries:
Winter, -5 - 0 C | 23 - 32 F
Bitterly cold, with icy winds constantly flowing down from the mountains. Freezing rain is almost constant; the sky always a murky grey and the ground slippery with slushy refrozen ice. The days are extremely short, with the nights dropping a good number below the daily average. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove a major danger, and are checked upon every day, with anything bigger than a fist being removed.

Month 07, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Summer 27 - 38 C | 80 - 100 F
Light breezes down from the mountains tot he North keep the temperature comfortable, even when the sun can bake an egg on the edge of a weyr. Sunburn is common.

Ista Boundaries:
Summer, 34 - 43 C | 93 - 110 F
A very dry, dusty heat. Little to no rain, causing more than some to worry about the drought not breaking and the rest of the Isle being at risk of fires. Many seek the depths of weyr, hold or hall during the midday and early afternoon heat.

Telgar Boundaries:
Summer, 26 - 35 C | 79 - 95 F
Muggy, sticky and generally just plain humid. Thunder storms are regular occurances, often happening in the early afternoon or evening, with heavy rainfall before drying off sometime in the night. Mornings are usually crisp, but warm up swiftly.

Month 04, 740 AL
North: Early Spring | South: Early Autumn
−1.9 C to 4.7 C | 20.0 C to 29.0

Spring has sprung, with the snow slowly melting in much of the North, creating mushy grounds and greyish, icy snow piles that are doing their best to melt. In comparison, Ista finds itself naturally warmer, (~10C / 50) and many people who can find rides are making their way to the Island to spend some time in warmth and sunshine, away from the lingering touch of winter.

Katila is beginning to cool down to more reasonable temperature, but is no less muggy and uncomfortable to those who are not used to the seasons. It is still a good place to escape to when seeking a warm day or a nice swim at the lake, though.

Winter has come slowly to the Northern lands of Pern, with more rain and cold winds than snow. As the month progresses, more and more snow will fall, with frequent blizzard-like storms towards the very end of the month. Telgar and Fort will in particular become burried under mountains of snow, while Ista is sunjected to frequent icy rainstorms, and heavy winds coming in from across the ocean.

Following the disastrous fires (sometime in around the 28th of Month 08), Ista Isle has found itself suddenly in the midst of constant rain; not enough to flood, but a steady, dreary downfall that seems to only take a time out for a couple of hours here and there, before coming back again. Its cast the entire sooty Isle into a sombre and depressed mood. Alongside the rain, the weather is muggy and while not hot, is not particularly cool, either.

The rest of Northern Pern is getting their usual weather, though they, too, have been called to action following the wildfires that savaged Ista. Many individuals who called Ista Island home have been relocated not just to Ista Weyr, Ista Hold or Sea Cliff Hold, but also to other areas of Pern, whether with family or friends.

Month 08, 739 AL
North: Late Summer | South: Late Winter
17.4 to 25.5 C | 10.8 C to 23.2 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm - 37 to 45 C - has resulted in an incredibly dry summer, with little to no rain. This was climaxed by a dry thunderstorm, the results of which caused three fires to start across the Island on the 24.07.739 in the early morning hours. While the results of this are yet to be played out, the events will no doubt leave more than just the scarring of the land.

18.0 to 26.6 C | 10.2 C to 21.9 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm, with average weather being in the 37 to 45 C range, making it now a more than slightly undesirable escape for the rest of the Northern population from the more enjoyable early summer weather. There has been very little in the way of rain, though the coastal areas are no stranger to the salty wind. Ista's limited farmlands and fields are dry and dusty, with golden straw instead of grass where there is any growth at all.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Northern areas are still getting a lot of evening rain and the occasional thunderstorms, which cools down the populus and allows them to sleep easily without sweating their brains out like the Istans.

Month 11, 738 AL
North: Late Autumn | South: Late Spring

Autumn is coming to an end, with the days slowly becoming shorter still, with early nights and late mornings. The temperature is getting very cool, with jackets being more required, but it has yet to actually snow. Despite this, it is often raining and miserable.

The Southern contient is in full bloom, with flowers coming to life in the grasses and on the trees. The skies are bright blue with fluffy clouds, and occassional sunshowers bringing a dampness to the day. The nights are still crisp, but not cold. The ground is starting to dry up as water is absorbed by the blooming flora.

Month 10, 738 AL
North: Mid Autumn | South: Mid Spring

Autumn is in full tilt, with the leaves a shocking array of orange and red, and more of them on the ground than on the trees. The skies are often a clear and crisp blue, with a cool breeze flowing, shifting the leaves and sending them scattering. Rain is not common, but when it does roll in the skies are dark like night come early, and thunderstorms are not uncommon, though they don't last for long and the amount of rain that falls isn't too heavy.

Month 09, 738 AL
North: Start Autumn | South: Start Spring

Nothern regions are entering into Autumn, with the trees beginning to change to their reds and oranges, while the air is beginning to feel more crips. There are still more warm days than cool, and the nights are mostly warm enough for light bedding still. Rain has faded away and most days are clear and bright.

The Southern contient finds itself heading into spring, with rain and flowers vying for attention. The ground is often muddy and squishy, while the skies are either bright and blue, or overcast wtih fluffy clouds.

Month 08, 738 AL
North: End Summer | South: End Winter

Summer is winding to an end in the Northern hemisphere, with the weather slowly cooling and the trees beginning to turn their leaves. The days are still long and bright, but the sun is beginning to lose some of its strength.

The coastal Weyrs are falling victim to coastal storms, strong winds and heavy rains with thunder and lightening.

The more inbound Weyrs and Holds find themselves drier, not getting nearly as much rain or storms, they find themselves on the end of a long drought.

Month 07, 738 AL
North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter

Summer is in full spring in the Nothern hemisphere, with the bulk of each day being unbearbly hot, followed by vicious thunderstorms and heavy humidity in the evenings and at night.

The coastal areas are experiencing monsoon like weather, and spend a lot of their time locked away in Hold, Hall or Weyr.

The more inner locations find themselves faced with more dry heat during the day, and horrible humidity in the evening and at night while the thunderstorms rage.

General Dressing Style:
Growing up as the son of the Igen Weyrleaders, G'nen always felt pressure to look the part, so he was careful about his appearance. While on the Southern Continent nice clothing was harder to come by, especially before the founding of Katila, but G'nen did his best to remain presentable whenever possible. He nearly cried in joy the first time he went to a textile market after the return North.
Zhu Yilong
Personality
Likes:
His Family: G'nen holds his family close, and likes spending time with them.
Group Meals: Eating alone sucks, and even if he has no one in particular to eat with, G'nen will introduce himself to someone rather than eat by himself.
Good Boots: One thing G'nen has learned to truly appreciate is a good pair of boots. While he's not picky about his clothing in general, boots are an exception to that rule.
Strengths:
Accessible: G'nen doesn't get hung up about rank, and his cheerful demeanor puts many people at ease around him, making him easy to talk to.
Hardworking: If given a task, G'nen will see it through to the best of his ability.
Thoughtful: He genuinely cares about others, and tries to make everyone as happy and comfortable as possible.
Dislikes:
Illness: G'nen has know too many people to die from illness and gets into a right panic if he or anyone he knows gets sick.
Felines: He almost didn't make it out of the attack that permanently scarred Yanth, and the beasts are a part of the South he will not miss.
Family Fighting: Infighting among families or lovers makes G'nen uncomfortable and upset. He loves his family so much, the idea of truly fighting with them hurts, and it makes him sad for the people who are fighting.
Flaws:
Gullible: G'nen is honest, and assumes other people are as well. So when someone lies to him, he tends to believe it.
Curious: In the sense of asking really personal questions to people he barely knows and making it awkward and, in many cases, causing the other person to get angry.
Compliant: He doesn't usually think to question authority. He's learned to do it some over the years, but it rarely occurs to him right away. If asked to complete a task, he will do so to the best of his ability, and may not have considered any impact it may have.
Habits & Mannerisms:
G'nen tends to bite the nail on his thumbs when thinking. His thumbnails are somewhat permanently damaged because of it.
General Personality:
G'nen is known for being cheerful, always smiling and laughing. He tries to see the best in everyday life, though he can be serious when it matters. He is very devoted to his family and his dragon, and has always been a bit of a mama's boy.

He was raised with the idea that the dragons and his Weyr are of the utmost importance, and he maintains that belief. G'nen will work tirelessly for what he believes (or is told) is for the good of the dragonriders. Even things he personally finds distasteful, he will often push his own feelings aside to get the job done. He is not particularly ambitious because of this, believing he will end up where he is most needed by the dragons and dragonriders.

Important History:
701 AL & Birth: Gedrenen is born to Wenon and K'tios.
703 AL & 2 Turns: Gedrenen's parents become the Igen Weyrleaders. Being 2 Turns old, he hardly notices the difference.
706 AL & 5 Turns: A bit of a terror as a child, Gedrenen is all smiles and laughs, and despite all the trouble he gets into no one can stay mad at him for long. Has a particularly scary experience where he gets himself trapped in a barrel for several hours before he's found.
713 AL & 12 Turns: At 12 Turns Gedrenen is first allowed to Stand at Hatchings. He does not Impress in this year, which he finds somewhat disappointing, but he also kind of wants a dragon from one of his parents' dragons' clutches.
714 AL & 13 Turns: His wish is granted, and Gedrenen Impresses brown Yanth from one of Jormath and Teglioth's clutches.
715 AL & 14 Turns: The Plague starts, and G'nen is deeply afraid for Yanth and his family.
716 AL & 15 Turns: Upon hearing of Katila's order that all of High Reaches Weyr escape South, K'tios and Wenon give the same order to Igen. K'tios stays in Igen, for by then Teglioth has fallen ill. G'nen begs his mother to accompany him South with Yanth, and she agrees.

The journey across the ocean is difficult for the small group, as Yanth is barely full grown. G'nen and Yanth are young and inexperienced, so Wenon shares her memories of Jormath's flying with Yanth to help him make the journey. They manage to find a small, isolated bay where they build their new home. G'nen and Yanth do most of the work in the beginning, as Wenon is somewhat out of it.
718 AL & 17 Turns: While searching for food, G'nen and Yanth are attacked by Felines. They successfully fight them off, but Yanth is permanently scarred by the experience, with claw marks all along his left leg. With Wenon's help, they manage to make a poultice to keep infection away from the wounds. Yanth recovers from the experience, though his left leg does get stiff in colder weather ever since.
720 AL 19 Turns: Yanth hears Nirinath's Call, and the three agree to reunite with the other dragonriders. Wenon and G'nen approve of the choice to stay in the South for the most part, as it is important the dragonriders are respected by the rest of Pern, and they are currently in a bit of a shambles. Staying long enough to re-establish themselves more fully is worthwhile.
721 AL & 20 Turns: G'nen learns that his uncle, S'ros, died while on the Southern Continent. His surviving weyrmate, Ah'gre, moved in with him and his mother.
722 & 21 Turns: G'nen was rather popular among the women of Katila, as he was one of the younger full dragonriders, which some women seemed to find appealing. As a 21 turn old man who had been alone with only his mother for human company for four years, he took to this very enthusiastically.

When people began working against Tsuen, G'nen had no interest in joining. Whatever he felt personally, she was the rider of their queen dragon,
and therefore was in charge. He also agreed that staying South made more sense than going North when they were still fractured.
724 AL & 23 Turns: His first known child, a girl named Galatea, is born to a serving woman. He has no permanent relationship with the mother, but he tries to be part of Galatea's life when possible.
729 AL & 28 Turns: Galatea's mother dies of illness, and the girl moves in with G'nen, Wenon, and Ah'gre.
732 AL & 31 Turns: Ah'gre dies of illness, and Skaith goes Between. G'nen had grown close to his 'uncle' and mourned the man's death.
734 AL & 33 Turns: Wenon, G'nen, and Yanth survive the Landslide fairly unscathed, as survivors go.
The return North is announced. G'nen is excited at the prospect of returning North, the home of his childhood, though he knows he will miss the Southern Continent. He worked so hard to make it work and make it his own
735 AL & 34 Turns: Wenon rides North with G'nen and Yanth, and they move into Telgar.
736 AL & 35 Turns: G'nen and Wenon go with the group repopulating Fort. He brings Galatea with them as well.
738 AL & 37 Turns: Starts working as a Fort Weyrlingmaster Assistant.
741 AL & 40 Turns: First Weyrling class where he is the main Weyrlingmaster.

Yanth
Adulthood
ery dark brown, with tawnier underbelly, lower neck, underside of tail, and underside of jaw. (Basically, his dorsal stripe spread.) Yanth has notably powerful hind legs and a smaller front of body, allowing him to launch himself far into the air. Inherited from his father, Teglioth, who used the extra launching power to catch a certain gold, Yanth uses the ability to great effect on the Southern Continent, where being able to get in the air and get there fast can be a lifesaving ability.
Mindvoice
Calm and melodious.
Personality
People often comment on the similarities between G'nen and his dragon. While they may be similar on the surface, the two are not as similar as people perceive them. Yanth is by far the lazier of the two, sometimes bemoaning his rider's tendency to offer help to whoever needs it, even when it's their day off.

As a dragonet, Yanth was fairly high strung for a brown. He leveled out as he aged, helped by his experiences crossing to the Southern Continent and surviving there practically alone. Nowadays it takes a lot to phase Yanth.
Quirks
Likes:
Beaches: Absolute best place to bask in the sun. The Northern beaches are not nearly as nice as the Southern ones, unfortunately.
Children: He finds them fascinating, though he has little chance to interact with them.
Firelizards: Yanth thinks they're sweet and amusing.

Dislikes:
Storms: Due to a storm they passed through the edge of while traveling to the Southern Continent, Yanth has a deep dislike of flying during storms.
Winter: His feline scarred leg tends to ache in colder, rainier weather. It makes him a bit grumpy.
The smell of most herbs: Yanth and G'nen have had enough injuries that needed dressing in some fashion that the smell of healing herbs and poultices makes Yanth wrinkle his nose in discomfort.

Strengths:
Rational: He likes to think things through before making judgments, and weighs all the information he knows.
Positive: Yanth has become skilled in keeping a positive outlook, even when things look grim.
Courteous: A very polite dragon, Yanth shares his rider's propensity for being respectful and polite to people an dragons of all ranks.

Flaws:
Lazy: Despite being hardworking when he has to be, his favorite thing to do when not working is sleep.
Disobedient: On the Southern Continent, Yanth had to learn to make decisions when G'nen could not, or react when G'nen made poor ones. He learned to sometimes use his own judgement above that of his rider's. He's not actively confrontational or disobedient, but if he disagrees he will rarely follow orders.
Blunt: Yanth says it like it is, even if it hurts.
