Ista Isle is amused by the weaklings of Benden, but at least their heat is dry. Benden is muggy and riddled with heavy thunderstorms and downpours.

Ista is heating up swiftly, and preparing for a rough summer - hopefully nothing like the one from a couple turns before with the wildfires! The rest of Northern Pern is warming upsomewhat slower, but with no less gusto as summer begins to creep into the sky, keeping the sun awake longer, warming the ledges of the weyrs. Rainstorms are sporadic, but keep the world well watered, despite the heat of the days.

The Red Star can be seen by those who choose to see it, causing no shortage of whispers that Thread will return - and just as much dismissal from those who do not believe. After all, it's been so long, surely it is no longer a threat! Weyrleaders are, regardless, beginning to put together wings in their Weyrs, if only to keep troublesome and bored riders busy.

Month 12, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Winter -3 - 2 C | 26 - 35 F
Fort is already home to snowfalls, though early in the month they fade away when the sun rises. As the month progresses, more snow stays on the ground, ending up with several feet of snow before the month is over. The areas around homes and populations has the snow shoveled away or trodden down. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove some danger and are routinely removed.

Ista Boundaries:
Winter, 9 - 21 C | 48 - 69 F
Generally warm enough to go about without a jacket on, Ista has low humidity but high chance of rain, generally in the form of vicious afternoon thunderstorms. The storms wash away any bite of heat the day had, and leave it feeling fresh for the night. The days are short, but grow bright quickly and the afternoons seem to be particularly short when heavy thunderstorms roll in and cover the sky.

Telgar Boundaries:
Winter, -5 - 0 C | 23 - 32 F
Bitterly cold, with icy winds constantly flowing down from the mountains. Freezing rain is almost constant; the sky always a murky grey and the ground slippery with slushy refrozen ice. The days are extremely short, with the nights dropping a good number below the daily average. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove a major danger, and are checked upon every day, with anything bigger than a fist being removed.

Month 07, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Summer 27 - 38 C | 80 - 100 F
Light breezes down from the mountains tot he North keep the temperature comfortable, even when the sun can bake an egg on the edge of a weyr. Sunburn is common.

Ista Boundaries:
Summer, 34 - 43 C | 93 - 110 F
A very dry, dusty heat. Little to no rain, causing more than some to worry about the drought not breaking and the rest of the Isle being at risk of fires. Many seek the depths of weyr, hold or hall during the midday and early afternoon heat.

Telgar Boundaries:
Summer, 26 - 35 C | 79 - 95 F
Muggy, sticky and generally just plain humid. Thunder storms are regular occurances, often happening in the early afternoon or evening, with heavy rainfall before drying off sometime in the night. Mornings are usually crisp, but warm up swiftly.

Month 04, 740 AL
North: Early Spring | South: Early Autumn
−1.9 C to 4.7 C | 20.0 C to 29.0

Spring has sprung, with the snow slowly melting in much of the North, creating mushy grounds and greyish, icy snow piles that are doing their best to melt. In comparison, Ista finds itself naturally warmer, (~10C / 50) and many people who can find rides are making their way to the Island to spend some time in warmth and sunshine, away from the lingering touch of winter.

Katila is beginning to cool down to more reasonable temperature, but is no less muggy and uncomfortable to those who are not used to the seasons. It is still a good place to escape to when seeking a warm day or a nice swim at the lake, though.

Winter has come slowly to the Northern lands of Pern, with more rain and cold winds than snow. As the month progresses, more and more snow will fall, with frequent blizzard-like storms towards the very end of the month. Telgar and Fort will in particular become burried under mountains of snow, while Ista is sunjected to frequent icy rainstorms, and heavy winds coming in from across the ocean.

Following the disastrous fires (sometime in around the 28th of Month 08), Ista Isle has found itself suddenly in the midst of constant rain; not enough to flood, but a steady, dreary downfall that seems to only take a time out for a couple of hours here and there, before coming back again. Its cast the entire sooty Isle into a sombre and depressed mood. Alongside the rain, the weather is muggy and while not hot, is not particularly cool, either.

The rest of Northern Pern is getting their usual weather, though they, too, have been called to action following the wildfires that savaged Ista. Many individuals who called Ista Island home have been relocated not just to Ista Weyr, Ista Hold or Sea Cliff Hold, but also to other areas of Pern, whether with family or friends.

North: Late Summer | South: Late Winter
17.4 to 25.5 C | 10.8 C to 23.2 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm - 37 to 45 C - has resulted in an incredibly dry summer, with little to no rain. This was climaxed by a dry thunderstorm, the results of which caused three fires to start across the Island on the 24.07.739 in the early morning hours. While the results of this are yet to be played out, the events will no doubt leave more than just the scarring of the land.

18.0 to 26.6 C | 10.2 C to 21.9 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm, with average weather being in the 37 to 45 C range, making it now a more than slightly undesirable escape for the rest of the Northern population from the more enjoyable early summer weather. There has been very little in the way of rain, though the coastal areas are no stranger to the salty wind. Ista's limited farmlands and fields are dry and dusty, with golden straw instead of grass where there is any growth at all.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Northern areas are still getting a lot of evening rain and the occasional thunderstorms, which cools down the populus and allows them to sleep easily without sweating their brains out like the Istans.

Month 11, 738 AL
North: Late Autumn | South: Late Spring

Autumn is coming to an end, with the days slowly becoming shorter still, with early nights and late mornings. The temperature is getting very cool, with jackets being more required, but it has yet to actually snow. Despite this, it is often raining and miserable.

The Southern contient is in full bloom, with flowers coming to life in the grasses and on the trees. The skies are bright blue with fluffy clouds, and occassional sunshowers bringing a dampness to the day. The nights are still crisp, but not cold. The ground is starting to dry up as water is absorbed by the blooming flora.

Month 10, 738 AL
North: Mid Autumn | South: Mid Spring

Autumn is in full tilt, with the leaves a shocking array of orange and red, and more of them on the ground than on the trees. The skies are often a clear and crisp blue, with a cool breeze flowing, shifting the leaves and sending them scattering. Rain is not common, but when it does roll in the skies are dark like night come early, and thunderstorms are not uncommon, though they don't last for long and the amount of rain that falls isn't too heavy.

Month 09, 738 AL
North: Start Autumn | South: Start Spring

Nothern regions are entering into Autumn, with the trees beginning to change to their reds and oranges, while the air is beginning to feel more crips. There are still more warm days than cool, and the nights are mostly warm enough for light bedding still. Rain has faded away and most days are clear and bright.

The Southern contient finds itself heading into spring, with rain and flowers vying for attention. The ground is often muddy and squishy, while the skies are either bright and blue, or overcast wtih fluffy clouds.

Month 08, 738 AL
North: End Summer | South: End Winter

Summer is winding to an end in the Northern hemisphere, with the weather slowly cooling and the trees beginning to turn their leaves. The days are still long and bright, but the sun is beginning to lose some of its strength.

The coastal Weyrs are falling victim to coastal storms, strong winds and heavy rains with thunder and lightening.

The more inbound Weyrs and Holds find themselves drier, not getting nearly as much rain or storms, they find themselves on the end of a long drought.

Month 07, 738 AL
North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter

Summer is in full spring in the Nothern hemisphere, with the bulk of each day being unbearbly hot, followed by vicious thunderstorms and heavy humidity in the evenings and at night.

The coastal areas are experiencing monsoon like weather, and spend a lot of their time locked away in Hold, Hall or Weyr.

The more inner locations find themselves faced with more dry heat during the day, and horrible humidity in the evening and at night while the thunderstorms rage.

An'tell
Richard Armitage
Full Name:
Antixell
Nicknames:
None any use to his face these days. Some of his family called him Ani.
Date of Birth:
10.06.705 AL
Place of Birth:
Small village outside of Fort Hold

Pronounced:
ANNE-tih-zell
Rank:
Bronzerider
Primary Home:

Searched Date:

Appearance
Eye Colour:
Blue-grey
Height:
6'2"
Hair Colour:
Build:
Dark brown, short
General Description:
Eyes: An’tell has light blue-gray eyes that darken at the edge of the iris. His eyebrows slope somewhat downward, giving him a serious look.

Hair: His hair is a dark brown that looks black in some lighting. It has a natural wave to it that becomes more pronounced the longer it grows.

Height: 6’2”

General Appearance: An’tell was raised as a smith, and working in the forge built upper body muscle from hammering metal into shape. As such, An’tell is well built but not overly muscular. Another result of working in the forge for years is the many scars decorating his hands and lower arms. Incidents from handling to hot metal, hot metal flying off the piece he was working, mishandling a tool, or accidentally bumping or dropping a work in progress created the patchwork of scars. He’s gained a few more working with dragons, including a particularly nasty one on his calf from a distressed hatchling the first time he Stood.

His face is fairly thin, with a sharp nose and thin mouth. An’tell has fairly distinctive laugh lines that are present even when he isn’t smiling.
General Dressing Style:
Between his first profession and his current profession, An’tell takes practicality to the extreme in his dress. Seeing him in clothes that aren’t black or brown, maybe the occasional cream, might cause those who know him well to faint in shock.

He is careful to keep his clothes washed, but he understands that when dealing with the forge or dragons, permanent stains and holes will happen, and wearing clothes until they are nearly falling apart does not bother him. He presents himself well, but doesn’t fuss about looking immaculate at all times.

Similar to his outlook on clothes, An’tell generally stays clean shaven but is not overly bothered by stubble if he has to miss a few days.

Personality
Likes:
Smithing: For An’tell, smithcraft was not just a job his family foisted on him. He truly enjoyed the work, and genuinely misses it. He’s considering asking his Weyrleader if he can continue his training at the Smithhall when he isn’t needed elsewhere. Who knows when having a Master Smith might be useful to the Dragonriders?

Jams: Fruit jams and jellies are a rare treat, and An’tell savors any opportunity to eat them.
Strengths:
Reliable: If given a task, he will do it to the best of his ability.

Self Disciplined: An’tell is capable of keeping himself on schedule and does not need constant reminders from others to complete tasks. He knows what he needs to do, how much time he needs to do it, and he will see it to completion.
Dislikes:
Mess: An’tell, as an organized person, does not like messes. His definition of a mess is not necessarily the same as other peoples, in that he considers anything that doesn’t follow an organizational system he understands a mess. He gives an allowance to other Crafters, as he understands they have their own systems.

Inactivity: He likes to always be doing something. Even his idea of relaxation involves being active; perhaps working on a project. Being forced to do nothing is his own personal hell.

Being Ill/Hurt: Tying in to his hate of being inactive is his hatred of being ill or injured and forced to take bed rest.
Flaws:
Keeps Grudges: Oh boy does An’tell keep grudges. He still remembers the name of a fellow Smith apprentice who borrowed a nail from him and never replaced it when he was 13 years old.

Overcritical: An’tell tends to be overly critical of everyone, but especially himself. He holds himself to much higher standards than anyone else.

Quick Tempered: If something irks him, An’tell will let it be known, and if the person or people responsible aren’t properly contrite about it, he will let them hear his disappointment.
Habits & Mannerisms:
After years of working in the forge, An’tell’s actions are deliberate and methodical. He likes knowing where everything is, and is careful to keep his own items organized - sometimes he’ll start organizing other people’s things as well if he’s stressed or trying to keep himself calm.
General Personality:
An’tell is known for being pretty intense. With his serious looking resting face and careful nature he comes across as severe to most people. He is rather intense, but he has a much better sense of humor and more compassion than people assume. The person he holds to the highest standard is himself, and he is significantly more lenient and gentler with other people. An’tell does not shy from holding people responsible for their mistakes, but he will not be needlessly cruel about them.

Instilled in him from a young age was a deep sense of responsibility. Responsibility to his family first, then responsibility to his craft, and, most recently, responsibility to his dragon and his Weyr. He worries about when his responsibilities conflict; he still feels a tug of war between his place in his Crafthall and his place with the Dragonriders.

Antixell is sent to the Smithcrafthall to begin his apprenticeship and continue the family craft.
720 AL & 14 Turns: Due to showing promise as a smith, a Master Smith takes Antixell as his personal apprentice, and he gains the position of Sr. Apprentice.
724 AL & 18 Turns: Antixell finishes his apprenticeship and attains the title of Jr. Journeyman.
727 AL & 22 Turns: Having served several years as a Journeyman in the Crafthall, Antixell is sent out to work in an outlying town, much like his father, to gain practical experience without the aid of many masters of the craft surrounding him at all times.
731 AL & 26 Turns: Antixell is Stolen from the outlying town by B’jin and taken to Katila.

A few months later, he Stands for the first time and is injured by a hatchling. This in no way improves his disposition towards dragons or their riders.
732 AL & 27 Turns: He Stands for another two clutches, without Impressing. He avoids being injured during the Hatchings.
733 AL & 28 Turns : Antixell Stands for a fourth clutch, again without Impressing. At this point, he is seriously considering an escape attempt.
734 AL & 29 Turns: On the first day of the year, Antixell Stands for a fifth time. This time, he Impresses bronze Erinath.

Eight months later, the Landslide decimates Katila. An’tell is trapped in a building alongside several other Weyrlings. With careful digging from the inside, and assistance from their dragons on the outside they manage to escape with over half the Weyrling pairs surviving. Erinath gained some scars from his endeavor.
735/36 AL & 30/31 Turns: The dragonriders return North to Telgar. An’tell graduates shortly after the move.

When the dragonriders are divided among the Weyrs, An’tell and Erinath head to Fort Weyr.

Clutch Details:
Gold Okalinth x Bronze Torath at Katila Weyr on the 734.01.01 [Clutch Page]
Weyrlinghood
Erinath was very pale as a hatchling, and in some lights could almost be mistaken for gold. His head seemed overlarge for his body beyond the usual disproportionate head sizes of hatchlings.
Erinath
Adulthood
Age led to Erinath’s hide darkening, as well as gaining some mottling along his back, neck, and tail. He became more well proportioned, though his wingspan is still large for his size. The increased wingspan makes him ideal for endurance, being able to glide long distances with little flapping of wings. His chest is somewhat barrel shaped, with plenty of space for large lungs that also assist with endurance.
Mindvoice
Smooth voice, almost always sounds amused. If he doesn’t sound amused, he sounds angry.
Personality
Erinath is highly energetic, and, similar to his rider, prefers to always be doing something. For a being his size more lethargy is expected, but Erinath defies the expectation.

The bronze is deeply protective of those he considers ‘his,’ which extends to his rider, his rider’s friends, and all members of his Wing.

Quirks
Habits/Mannerisms: He has a highly embarrassing habit of letting the tip of his tongue stick out. Erinath is deeply embarrassed by this habit, but rarely notices himself doing it. He thinks it ruins his impressive bronze persona.

Likes:
Swimming: Warm or cold, salt or fresh, Erinath loves being in the water any chance he gets. Trying to convince him to come back out again can be a challenge.
Flirting: He may not always be good at flirting, but he does enjoy it. He will flirt with any dragon just for fun, though he is almost never serious in his attentions.
Eyeridge Scratches: If you want Erinath to love you forever, scratch his eye ridges. You will be set for life in his eyes.

Dislikes:
Insects: You’d think insects would be too small to bother a bronze. You’d be wrong. Erinath hates the little irritations.
Holders: They’re just always so loud and argumentative, as well as tend to avoid helping dragonriders whenever possible.
Landslides: He had that bad experience as a young dragon and would rather never repeat it ever.

Strengths:
Amusing: In the dangerous world of dragonriders, being able to find humor in life and share it with others can make life easier for everyone. Erinath is adept at finding and creating humor in order to help others feel better.
Considerate: Erinath is the kind of dragon who will always make sure that other humans and dragons are comfortable around him, and is careful to not take up too much space or look too scary.
Clever: Erinath is surprisingly good at solving problems for a dragon, and An’tell frequently consults him on how to get things done.

Flaws:
Arrogant: Erinath thinks rather a lot of himself, and this sometimes limits his ability to self-asses and admit when he’s wrong.
Fussy: He likes things being just so, especially when it comes to his hide, and gets a bit grumpy when things are not as he likes them.
Always DTF (Down To Fight): Ready to back up those he cares about at a moment’s notice, Erinath is eternally read to get down and protect his important people.
