Brownrider: D'ren was just screaming at Tsuen and N'gelt.
Bronzerider: Really? That doesn't sound like him. What for?
Brownrider: D'ren didn't want to lash that poor northerner

Brownrider: Yeah. N'gelt was really pushing for a lashing, and Tsuen was pointing out that some others already had been lashed for trying to escape. Like that healer girl.
Bronzerider: I didn't hear about that...
Brownrider: Yeah, I think S'kef lashed her in private. D'ren was saying the northerners didn't deserve to be put through a 'public spectacle' or something
Bronzerider: Well, it still happened. I guess that explains why he wasn't present, though.
Brownrider: Yeah! They pretty much bullied him tell he gave in
