Rainbow Spheres [Open] - V'ra - 22.Jun.12

The lithe figure of the small girl slipped easily out of the chaos of the dining hall as the majority of the Weyr's population made their way into it for the midday meal. No one noticed the small pre-teen leaving, and if they did, they made no comment that the girl could hear or took the time to hear. In one hand, Indivara was carefully balancing a plate full of her lunch, a selection of roasted vegetables and slices of juicy wherry meat. Perfect for eating out in the dappled shade on the outskirts of the Gather Square! In her other hand, she held a very large, dewy glass of juice - the second glass she had collected, after swiftly guzzling the first. Now, with her stomach lined and her lunch imminent, Indivara made her way to a large tree on the outskirts of the Square, and carefully settled herself down and under it's extended branches, enjoying the subtle lighting that came through the leaves and winked at the ground below.

She really did love trees.

Curling her legs up under herself, Indivara rested her plate of food across her knees and picked at it delicately as she settled the glass of juice very carefully beside her, making sure it wouldn't be tipped over or lost to the grass. Fresh, cool juice was far too good to risk losing. Besides which, she was pretty sure whichever dragonpair had been tasked with cooling all the drinks between would be as unhappy with the loss of the drink as she would be. As if to justify her love of and appreciation for the food she'd gotten for herself, and the drink at her side, Indivara devoured the lot quickly and efficiently, and set both plate and glass aside against the tree trunk.

Content, her belly full of food and her mind lazy, Indivara leaned back against the trunk of the tree herself, and dug around in her pocket for the small bottle she had stashed there, stolen from the kitchen. It was a decent sized little bottle, but easily held in both hands and hidden without too much issue. It was plugged with a cork, and contained clear liquid that smelt faintly of lavender. Pulling the cork out with her fingertips, Indivara placed it aside, and dug around further in her pocket, until she pulled out a small strand of wire with a little hoop at the end. It was decently sized, but not quite so big as to not fit inside the bottle - which was exactly where Indivara shoved it indelicately.

Withdrawing the loop of wire, Indivara held it over the mouth of the bottle, so the drips fell back inside, and blew gently, watching with placid amusement as a bubble formed, and floated away, followed rapidly by fellows before the use of the first dip into the liquid expired and she was required to repeat the process. Within a matter of moments, the air around and under the tree was filled with softly floating bubbles, the subtle scent of lavender and the bright blue gaze of Indivara as she watched the bubbles with a rare, placid expression.

Sometimes, the simplest of things in life were the most relaxing.

Indvara brushed her hair back from her face with her wrist, and blew some more bubbles, smiling slightly as two joined up, making a bigger bubble to float up for a moment, before a whisper of wind blew it down toward the grass. It popped and Indivara pouted for a moment. Then she was blowing more, watching them float and dance on the subtle spring breeze, the dappled shadows playing with the natural rainbow nature of the soapy liquid.

Re: Rainbow Spheres [Open] - Ch'rov - 22.Jun.12

Echlerov was off in the dining hall, and the little blue was bored. He didn't have anyone to talk to, and so, he went out exploring, only to find a strange bubble floating in the air. He reared back and poked it with his nose curiously, only to have it pop.

What was it?

He looked around curiously, and it was only luck that he spotted another bubble, and he chased after it, only to have it disappear before he could catch it.

Where were they coming from?

He sat down on, and pouted for a moment, before noticing a person sitting under a tree, and then he noticed that there were bubbles coming from there! Yay!

He bounded over to her, his eyes whirling in excitement. What are these? He reared up again and pointed at one of the bubbles with his nose, in case she didn't understand the question. I like them.

The warm spring sunshine was delightful as Aveleth curled up against the side of the Dining Hall building, sunning himself while he waited anxiously for Z'ia to finish his midday meal and rejoin him once more. They were going gathering that afternoon, an activity which Aveleth was particularly looking forward to. With the Weyrleader and his bronze assigned to the same group, the blue finally felt he could relax just a little around his bonded and not end up buried alive in trouble.

He was roused from his wandering, stressful thoughts by a random, wet pop against his hip. Raising his head delicately, Aveleth peered at the spot for a moment, then lifted his head to peer up at the sky. Cloudless, and a very bright blue, it obviously wasn't from any rain. Twisting around to peer up at the windows of the hall, the dragon studied them for a moment, too, before deciding that whatever had caused the wet mark on his hip had not come from there, either. Confused, he touched upon Z'ia's mind - it wouldn't be the first time his mischievous rider had tricked him. However, while the young man was definitely up to something, it wasn't anything designed to target his dragon.

Aveleth, worried Z'ia was going to do something stupid in the Hall when it was full (Faranth only knew what, but Aveleth was sure he'd think of something) the dragon poked around his human's mind long enough to be sure whatever was going on was simply bawdy table manners and bad jokes. The hall was liable to end up in a food fight, but that could be started by anyone. Hopefully. Maybe..?

Pop! Aveleth gave a squeak when another of the wet marks appeared on his cheek with a distinct albeit quiet popping sound, and his head swung around rapidly. Shivering worriedly, Aveleth's head tilted as he saw one of the young weyrlings prancing across the ground, following an almost invisible - Oh! It vanished! Aveleth's eyes opened wide, the colour shooting through to change from stressed silvers to curious blues and greens as he stood up, peering anxiously over his shoulder at the hall. The young dragon hesitated for a moment, swaying worriedly on the spot before he timidly moved to follow the baby blue dragon.

Yes, Aveleth added, timid voice as soft as snowflakes. What are they? Head tilting slightly, Aveleth watched the bubbles as they erupted from the little stick the girl held, and filled the air. He glanced back over his shoulder worriedly, again. It was never wise to wander too far from Z'ia... but... Aveleth swayed anxiously, but his attention returned to the scarred child and her odd creations.

Re: Rainbow Spheres [Open] - Parella - 04.Jul.12

Midday was generally a boring time for Grith. Well, Par'a was always planted in the dining hall eating to her heart's content, so Grith had to find someone else to pester. That was the rule, when she remembered it; "Amuse yourself while I eat". With everyone else also eating, there was usually only dragons to play with and even having short memories, they tended to grow tired of entertaining Grith three times every day.

So she was alone, flying around above the Weyr making patterns. It wasn't as good as making them on the ground, there she left claw marks and paw prints that she could look at from the sky later. But her wings had been aching that morning, so Par'a had somehow convinced her to try some gentle flying to stretch them out. That made the patterns even more boring, no twists and turns, dives and spins... Just sweeping curves. Boring.

Looking down she saw ever so tiny glimmers in the gather square. Now that was odd. It wasn't the flash and shine of metal or glass, just little sparkles, akin to glitter. Angling her wings she flew lower, keen to find out what these curious glints were. As she did so she saw one of the little Blue Weyrlings, his hide shedding to a much lighter shade in areas. Further inspection showed another Blue nearby, though he wasn't quite as pale as the Weyrling's patches. They both seemed to be looking at the glimmers, or were at least focused in the same direction. Maybe they knew what they were!

Hey!

She called down. Though she hadn't quite seen Indivara yet, her voice would certainly reach the young girl.

What's going on? She chirped excitedly, still circling lower and lower. Her pace frustrated herself, but she could feel Par'a's faint but firm presense there, ready to slow her excitable Green and keep her well-paced.

Eventually she came to land in the square, quickly trotting over to the Blues. Finally she saw the glimmers for what they were; bubbles! If Grith had a better memory she would know exactly what they were and how they worked, but well, she didn't. Eager to touch one of them and have it sit on her nose she pounced forward, bumping her nose up into one. When it popped on the tip she squealed, that wasn't nice! Pouting she dropped her rump to the ground and slumped her wings to the ground, completely dejected.

Indivara's scarred features twisted into a gentle smile as her placid activity called attention upon her from dragons, young and old both. The little weyrling and the Renewed Hope blue were both greeted with crinkling eyes as she watched their antics with deep amusement, giggling softly at their startled responses to the popping of bubbles. Dipping her little wand into the soapy water once more, Indivara rose it and blew a stream of bubbles between the two young dragons, watching as they spread out to fill the gap, floating around and above the two pale beasts.

The child was considering how best to explain to the two male dragons what exactly a bubble was, when the unmistakable voice of Grith completely detonated the lingering echoes of Pistoth and Aveleth's soft voices. Indivara, however, was smug in the fact that Grith rarely managed to startle her any more. She supposed she simply lived expecting the intrusion. Or perhaps her eleven turns of being surrounded by dragons, and most notably Grith, had prepared her for the obnoxious little green's loud voice. Not that the silly beast meant to be obnoxious or rude; she was far too sweet to be painful on purpose. Indivara smiled, her lips twisting up at the corners as the green landed and joined the little gathering.

Indivara laughed softly as Grith's joy popped just like the bubble that had touched her nose, and the child drew herself up regally, caring in one hand the cup of bubble liquid, and in the other her wand for blowing them. Walking easily over to the green, Indivara kissed Grith lightly on her sulking nose, and smiled cheerfully. "Fear not, Grith! There are more where that came from!" Leaping backwards gracefully in preparation for another mood swing from the dragon, Indivara dunked the wand in the liquid, and rose it to her lips, blowing another stream of bubbles that glittered and sparkled as they dipped and danced around Grith's face.

"These," Indivara started, her attention returning to the two blue's with a small smile, "are bubbles." Still focused on them, she blew another trail, watching as dozens of them danced on the breeze, around the dragons and up into the air. Some dipped closer to the ground, and would burst upon the grass, a few actually managed to land and hold their form for a while. Indivara smiled lazily, filling the air with bubbles, using so much breath she ended up feeling slightly dizzy and gave a delighted little giggle.

...More? Grith asked, lifting her head just enough to look at Indivara.

She watched cautiously as the stream of bubbles burst from the little wand Indivara was holding. They bobbed and weaved around her, some colliding and popping, others seeming to repel one another. Several burst on her hide but one, one tiny little bubble held strong. It sat on her paw, quivering as it tried to hold itself together. For a few moments Grith didn't see it but when she did she herself began to quiver. She tried her hardest to keep herself still, she had gathered enough that even the slightest touch would burst the shimmering things but could barely contain her excitement.

When she spoke, it was barely a whisper, her voice quivering just like her hide. Ra... look!

How she managed to speak as soft as the gentle Blues beside her was anyone's guess and it was likely nobody would ever believe Ra, if she even believed it herself.

When the bubble finally popped she fell absolutely still, not even breathing.

The clearing was a flurry of wings and dark green hide, all the bubbles bursting or being swept away with a great woosh. I caught a bubble! She squealed, most likely alerting the whole Weyr to her feat. She was up high in the air in seconds, wheeling and spiralling about in absolute glee.
