744.11.25 | Quiet Achievements - Mylorah - 21.Dec.23

Mylorah rolled away from where she had been sleeping in Tazikel's arms. He was one of her favourite pillows and normally she slept without issue, but something had woken her and continued to niggle at her mind. She tried to get comfortable on her actual pillow, but it wasn't working, even when she flipped sides again. Finally she focused on the feeling and mentally slapped herself for being so dumb and not connecting the dots to Amagrith. She slipped from the bed, which was what finally woke Tazikel, and Mylorah kissed his cheek. "Go back to sleep. Amagrith is restless so I'm going to check on her."

The simple dress she wore the day before was tossed back on along with her boots with sturdy soles that resisted the heat of the Sands well. Because she wasn't sure of the time and didn't want to risk looking like a complete mess to S'far or Mulrissa, Mylorah took a few extra moments to brush her hair and then dashed out the door with glowstone in hand and down the goldrider's path to the Hatching ground.

Amagrith was pacing in a small circle and Mylorah quickly rushed over, placing a hand on her dragon's side. "What's wrong? Should I get a healer?" As soon as the questions left her mouth, Mylorah knew it wasn't a medical concern, but it was finally time. They had both been getting somewhat anxious the last several days, knowing at any time the gold could clutch, and it seemed like now was the time!

I think so, too. It's very uncomfortable, Amagrith grumbled before giving Mylorah a lick to the arm and resuming her pacing. Mylorah laughed, relieved that it wasn't anything serious and Amagrith only seemed mildly annoyed by it all. A glance to the large opening showed it was still dark out. Good. "No one should be by for a while yet. Take your time, love. I'll stay with you through it all." A part of her did still wonder if a healer should be present, but as far as she knew, every other gold pair went it alone and everything was fine. She was just being overly cautious and forced herself to calm down and focus on encouraging Amagrith. Once the first egg came, that was a lot easier to do as excitement overtook her.

By the time the last egg came, the sun was rising, Amagrith was exhausted, and Mylorah was bursting with pride, excitement, and a touch of hunger. Go eat. "Not yet. You were--are--amazing! You did so well," Mylorah hugged Amagrith's neck as the dragon settled onto the sand to rest and look over her clutch. While she had no desire to be a mom herself and pregnancy terrified her, Mylorah still felt like a new mom as they basked in the moment together. It didn't hurt that she was certain the ninth egg was gold, but she had stayed out of the way during it all and had yet to inspect the clutch up close.

"Tazicurls and Seravath are going to be so excited and want to see them. The Master Harper and Maestro will likely want to visit as well. And of course S'far and Mulrissa will have to check in on everyone. Oh! I'll have to send a letter to T'drin because you know he and Gelabrith will want to celebrate with us as well." There was so much to do now that the eggs were on the Sands. Some Candidates had already arrived over the last week, but now the call would go out to bring them all in and new responsibilities would be given to her as well. And she should probably wash and oil Amagrith before everyone tried to see the eggs, and a bath for herself after that so they would be presentable and--

Not yet. We'll send out the news soon, just not yet. Mylorah smiled, nodding in agreement at what wasn't said aloud and curled up against her dragon's side. This was their time to enjoy the accomplishment together, quietly, for a little longer.
