744.08.22| Boredom Strikes - Nonalia - 19.Aug.23

She'd never thought she'd impress a gold, so she'd never thought to consider what leading (or helping lead) a weyr would entail for more than a moment. She had assumed it was more than this, however. She wasn't K'dar or Lassalla, with so many more responsibilities than she had as just a Junior Weyrwoman, but there were only so many times she could go over the same paperwork before it started to feel so much more like a chore. This is really what they needed to prepare for as much as training for your gold's first flight; how to stave off the mind-numbing boredom.

She turned to the door, then briefly looked over at Laniath, and then back at the door before rising from her place. What are you doing? There was a touch of amusement from the gold, and a grin cast from the young woman to her dragon.

Getting a new perspective. If I keep sitting here, I'm going to tear my hair out. She shut the door carefully behind her, trying to be a little quiet as she headed out to have the smallest, briefest of walks before she tried to focus on her work once more. Or, more like a skip, almost bounding away from her door as best she can with her sore ankle and down the corridor. She will be back shortly, she wasn't about to shirk her responsibilities, but for fear of falling asleep or completely losing her mind to boredom, this was a good alternative.

Until she nearly bounds right into the Weyrleader himself. Busted? Then again, he seemed to be wandering around himself, and it's not like he was some much older rider who would see her as some whining young goldrider. She knew K'dar, though maybe not well, but they were only a few years apart and grew up back in Katila. He'd probably understand her brief wandering, and maybe he'd keep her company before duty pulled them back. "Please tell me you're just as bored out of your mind as I am, K'dar. I swear, I was so, so close to losing it.""

RE: 744.08.22|Boredom Strikes - K'dar - 20.Aug.23

When he'd first been struck with the ambition to become Weyrleader, Igen had been far from K'dar's mind. He had been sure it would be terrible, but so far it had actually worked out rather well for him. The oppressive heat of the day meant that work had to wait until it had started to cool down and that suited his preferred night owl lifestyle quite well.

Tibs had woken him up, chewing at his fingers and being demanding in general, so after throwing on a pair of loose thin pants, he'd decided to set off for the kitchens for a snack fort he both of them. Maybe he could get some early work in, though there wasn't much that required his attention at the moment. He was pondering how he wanted to handle his day when there was a cautionary chirp and a puff as Tibs vanished and K'dar bumped into the Junior Weyrwoman.

"Oh! Sorry about that." Once he'd taken a comfortable step back the bronze flitter popped back in to carefully land on his bare shoulder, eyeing the woman curiously. "Tibs, you remember Nonalia. Or have you somehow been asleep every other time we've seen her?" That wouldn't have surprised him to be honest, the flitter frequently took naps whenever K'dar was in his office.

"Bored?" He couldn't help but grin. "I haven't been awake long enough for that yet. Though I have been trying to decide what I should do after I grab a snack from the kitchens. Should I get my work out of the way now so that I can relax the rest of the day, maybe go fishing? Or should I just relax now and wait until Tay asks me for an update to do everything at the last minute?"

He glanced around for a moment to make sure no one else was lurking in the corridor before he added, "Not that anything I have on my plate now is terribly important. I promise I don't slack off on those." Since K'dar wasn't in any rush to head to the kitchens he decided to check in. "Aside from the boredom how are you doing? How are you liking Igen?"

RE: 744.08.22|Boredom Strikes - Nonalia - 01.Oct.23

Ambition had never been for Lia. She had really only been hoping for a green, maybe a blue, but just a partner who could give her more purpose than bearing children who may have their own ambitions to foster. Not that she would ever complain for a moment that Laniath had chosen her. Her heart would forever be tied to her, and even if it's elevated her to a position she never truly dreamed of, no one would have her heart like the gold.

She didn't mind the heat of the weyr. Not really. It was drier than she was used to, but it sure beat having to deal with snow at any point of the winter. She didn't sleep well during the day, though she did occasionally sleep in until you could no longer call it 'morning'. With that, here she was. nearly bumping into the Weyrleader of all people, who only seemed to offer a cheerful response. That was nice.

"Ah, well, I perhaps don't sleep at the times most people do here. I'd call myself an 'early riser', but I'm not sure if late morning still counts? Maybe it's just here, it's..." She trailed off, the train of thought getting lost in the rest of the jumble of her mind. "Oh, the fish hate the heat as much as we do. If the aim is to actually catch something, later tonight is probably going to be better. For you as much as for a lucrative expedition."

Be sure to tell our Weyrleader I said hello. I'll be fine here, doing absolutely nothing...

"Nia- sorry, Laniath says hello. She won't say it, but she's as bored out of her mind as I am. And... a snack sounds nice, would you mind the company? Since neither of us have really pressing things to attend to, and I don't think we've had a chance to catch up since... well, a long time, anyway." Not that she would have considered them close, but they were never very far apart in age. Having grown up in Katila, especially, fostered a more close-knit community feel. At least to her.

"Oh, I'm... well, I sprained my ankle the other day, that was a pain... but it's getting better. Orgailian was nice enough to help me back to my weyr, and of course, the fussy gold called the healers for me, but it was to be expected." She'd like to think the pain wasn't, but clumsy was something of a regular occurrence for her. "We're settling in nicely aside from that hiccup, though. It's not too dissimilar to what we've already been used to. I like it, anyway."
