743.07.07 | Sleepy Prizes - Cazan - 07.Jul.22

There it was again, a soft little tickle, a gentle summoning, conspiratorial and warm, full of amusement with a touch of pride. Cazan let out a soft groan as she blinked her eyes open and realized it was far too late or early for this. But there it was again, that feeling that she was being summoned by her dragon. She sighed and gently pulled her way out from the middle of T'ryn and Yfris, doing her best to try and not wake either of them as she carefully maneuvered her way out of bed. Why did Mal have to wake her up in the middle of the night? Because I have a surpriiiiise for you.

Caz frowned, unsure of what it could possibly be. Had Mal caught someone sneaking onto the sands? Or had she snuck out of the sands to do something? Was Taith there? I'm not telling, Malvayth sang in a gentle singsong. With another sigh that she kept muffled, the goldrider carefully pulled on a pair of sleep pants and a loose shirt that she was pretty sure wasn't hers, and quietly making her way out.

There was a flutter and Sir settled quietly on her shoulder, pacing from one side to the other. She could feel that Lady was awake as well, and also being quite vigilant which made Cazan even more nervous. The bronze lurking on her shoulder was one thing, why would Lady be feeling protective unless something was going on. Cazan picked up the pace and only slowed down when she reached the Sands, pausing to look around cautiously before walking inside. Maybe she should have brought a knife? No, Malvayth wouldn't have been so chipper if that was the case. Maybe it was just some pest or other creature that Mal had caught that Lady was keeping watch over.

Malvayth was curled up, looking absolutely pleased with herself as she greeted her rider with a warm rumbly croon. Come see! "Come see what?" Caz asked with a yawn as she walked over, rubbing her eyes and relaxing as she decided whatever it was it was probably harmless. Sir immediately flew up to join Lady perched on the crown of Malvayth's head as she walked closer, and then the dragon lifted up her wings to show off... nothing. Except that was wrong. Her sides weren't bulging outwards like they should have.

No. It couldn't be. It was too early for that...

With a triumphant chirp Malvayth carefully stood and stepped out of the way to show off her prizes and the first thing that caught Cazan's eye was the gold egg proudly sitting in the middle of the clutch, a shimmering centerpiece that demanded attention. "Mal... I think... no this is definitely more than last time." First thirteen, then seventeen and now... a quick count brought her to twenty five. Twenty five eggs, one of which was a gold. I told you it was a good game, the dragon said smugly.

Cazan smiled and gave her dragon a fond hug as she yawned. "And you were right. Do you want me to stay the rest of the night with you again?" It was something she'd started with Mal's first clutch, and then she'd done it again the last time as well so she felt like she should offer since it was still too early to be awake. Of course! That's why I wait until night! For sleepovers.
