Enda what now? [OPEN to anyone not already in EotW] - ZZZ NPC - 13.Apr.12

Shrieking.

As consiousness slowly bubbled up through a thick fog of a long and uninterrupted sleep, J'dan became increasingly aware of the swell of dragon voices echoing loudly throughout the Weyr, and at length he recognized that it must have been this sound that had roused him from his much-needed nap. He yawned, and listened: it wasn't a death keen. Those always had an unmistakable off-key note of mourning about them, and they tended to wake him immediately. This was different, and something he'd never heard the likes of before, though the sharp, discordant pitch of the draconic screams suggested fear.

Fear for what?

With a sense of lazy curiousity that seemed very much at odds with all the ruckus going on around him, J'dan mentally reached out to his dragon. With a brief touch of their minds, the sleepy rider knew that his beast was not among the shriekers... but that didn't at all help to explain what was going on. In his lethargy, J'dan didn't even bother to put any words to the question he sent to his lifemate; Temsaith would know immediately what information he sought. He always did.

It's the gold weyrlings, Jada and Krypth, the dutiful dragon soon returned his rider's unspoken questioning. It was not unusual for his rider to send him these half-baked thoughts; by now the clever blue was well equipped to translate J'dan's lazy mental mumbles, and communication between the two was seamless as always. The woman is very ill, the blue continued in an strange mental voice that seemed to suggest that he wanted to pretend that he was unaffected by such matters, but - despite his best efforts to affect disinterest - he could not hide his concern for the young pair. After all, though he had not yet had the honor of personally meeting the little queenling or forming any relationship with her to speak of, Temsaith was still very much aware that the pair of them were key to dragonkind's continued survival.

More importantly, though, the dragon was aware that he must not alert his rider to the true severity of the situation. If J'dan were to catch wind of just how tense things had become with the new goldrider - as if the endless cacophony of shrieking dragons were not enough! - then there was just no telling what sort of urgent business the man would go and stick his nose into with every misguided intention of being helpful. Worse than that, were they to follow the crowd of rubber-necking weyrfolk to see what was going on, there was a good chance it would all end with Temsaith having to play ferry or fetch for the Healer Hall... which didn't sound like a good time at all for the until-very-recently peacefully snoozing dragon.

Temsaith shifted his wings uncomfortably when he sensed his rider rise from his curled-up napping position with a wave of mild alarm, and the lazy beast forced soothing calm back into his voice and into the emotions he sent to his bonded. There's no cause for concern. The young Master Healer is tending to her, and several riders are there to help already.

Oh, J'dan answered simply, easily appeased by the dragon's seeming composure. Well. Temsaith didn't sound worried, so he wouldn't worry either! With a stretch and a mighty yawn, the bluerider blinked, taking in his surroundings for the first time since he'd risen with disoriented puzzlement. Now where on all of Pern had he fallen asleep this time...?

Re: Enda what now? [OPEN to anyone not already in EotW] - J'ver - 17.Apr.12

It had been a long day thanks to the accursed chore of gathering. While the man he had immediately latched onto thanks to his timid nature and being a complete pushover did work harder to make up for J’ver’s own lack of interest in collecting anything, it had still taken a lot of energy to supervise the job. Some people simply couldn’t be left unattended for more than a few minutes without the world falling apart around them. J’ver had also given in and did a bit of gathering himself in order to keep the other man’s good faith so he could be used again at a later date. Overall, it had been a stressful day and a long soak in the bathhouse seemed like a marvellous idea and one he had been partaking in when the dragons started making a ruckus.

J’ver attempted to ignore the noise but Rilaleeyth, sitting daintily atop the building started in as well which only irritated her rider more. The little gold’s rider is dying, J’ver! Everyone is in such a panic. It sounds horrible! J’ver sighed and rolled his eyes before easing himself out of the hot water. It didn’t seem like he would be enjoying the remainder of his soak if what his green said was true. I’m sure it’s not that bad. No one would be stupid enough to leave the girl unattended long enough for her to be harmed in any manner. Ask some of the dragons that are bound to have gathered near the site by now. Really, did he have to think of everything?

He began towelling himself off, spending time to carefully work at his hair when Rilaleeyth finally had some information. The girl is with the Master Healer, other Healers, some weyrlings, and the riders of Larrikith and Ayyonth are there as well. No one seems too panicked in that room. Larrikith and Ayyonth… B’jin and R’nd were there? That was a bit odd but then again the bluerider did have an appetite for the young Candidates and Weyrlings when he wasn’t focused on the far older greenrider while B’jin was linked to Talian and Jada. Then there is nothing to worry about. Come now, my relaxing bath has been ruined and now I’m in the mood for a nice drink, though I need some supplies first.

Once dressed, J’ver made quick work of leaving the bathhouse with Rilaleeyth taking them to the Dining Hall soon after. As he walked through the Hall for the pantry, J’ver debated what kind of drink he wanted, thinking on herbs that would blend well together. With the dragons that still hadn’t been pacified, perhaps a drop of fellis in his tea would also be order if he wanted any peace that night. With another dramatic sigh for how hard his day had been – done solely for himself as no one else was around – J’ver slipped into the storage room, eyes narrowing in on the shelf he wanted. Two seconds later and he was grabbing his chest, convinced he was about to die of heart failure when something or rather, someone, stirred several feet away.

Who on Pern would fall asleep in the pantry? Oh, of course, “it’s you. I should have figured. Do you have no shame? No self-preservation?” J’ver’s lips curled up in disgust as cold pale blue eyes took in the other man that was still shaking off the remnants of sleep. Honestly, how could anyone consider sleeping in such a place to be of a wise decision when so many of their fellow riders would jump anyone lying still long enough, especially when they were as adorable as the blonde before him?

It had to horribly suck not being as intelligent as him.

Re: Enda what now? [OPEN to anyone not already in EotW] - ZZZ NPC - 02.May.12

J'dan blinked blearily at the unexpected sight of J'ver, the other rider's harsh words seeming to go completely over his head as he greeted the snarling man with a bashful, sleepy smile. Sure it was a little embarrassing to be caught sleeping where and when he obviously wasn't supposed to, but he hadn't seen the greenrider in awhile, and now was a good a time as any to make conversation as far as he was concerned. After all, he might not get another opportunity! J'ver was an elusive character who never made much time to hang out with the blueriders, as he seemed to much prefer the company of browns and bronzes. It seemed strange for a greenrider to be so disdainful of the blues - especially when most of them got along with their circle so well! - but J'dan didn't have time to dwell on it, because he was already running his mouth at a pace that rapidly increased - as he began to gain a firmer grasp on consciousness - to mile-a-minute. It was as if he thought he could pack enough conversation into the next few minutes to make up for all of that last time!

"Oh, evening J'ver... where is this?" Blue eyes quickly swept the storage room to assess his surroundings, but the talk continued without pause as the young man grinned in recognition. "Looks like the pantry again! It's actually pretty quiet and comfortable you know, not dangerous at all and I think you're the first person to even find me here! Let's keep it a secret though. Anyway do you need any help finding someth--"

The bluerider's rapid-fire stream of words was finally cut short by yet another yawn, and J'dan rose, stretching the stiffness out of his muscles as he did so. Pausing suddenly in this action, the young blond whirled on the other rider, previous conversation - if his one-sided babbling could be called that - abandoned in favor of whatever had just struck him. "Oh hey, did you hear about the gold weyrling?" J'dan asked in an hushed but urgent whisper, in the same tone in fact that one might use to share a particularly juicy bit of days-old gossip - despite the fact that he had only heard about her himself just a few moments ago, and indeed, dragons all around the Weyr were still shrieking their distress.

Somewhere outside, Temsaith was just wishing he could go back to sleep.

Re: Enda what now? [OPEN to anyone not already in EotW] - J'ver - 10.Jun.12

J’ver was used to J’dan’s babbling since the bluerider seemed obsessed with the idea that they were friends. It wasn’t too bad, when he managed to block out the mundane prattle and steeled himself against the shifts between outbursts of energy and falling asleep since the man often held juicy tidbits of information. J’dan would probably pout and perhaps even cry if he ever found out his fun times with gossiping once in a while led to the downfall of one of his friends. Such was life! Still, that didn’t mean he enjoyed these random stumbling upons anymore than he liked being suddenly pounced, literally or not. J’ver rubbed at thumb and index finger over the bridge of his nose as he willed away the beginnings of a headache. “I don’t plan on telling anyone this is one of your preferred napping locations.” Sometimes, it was just easier to agree first and forget the encounter later as it made for a quicker escape.

That was, until J’dan tried to assist in whatever he was doing. Thankfully, J’ver saw the canister that he was after and grabbed it before holding it up for J’dan to get a glimpse. “I found my required item so there’s no need for you to get up.” Of course his words went unheard as the bluerider rose to his feet and was suddenly back in form with his excited babbling. A man could get whiplash from trying to keep up with J’dan! It was a bit intriguing that someone found sleeping in a pantry could know what was going on at the Healing Hall but J’ver had sent his own dragon to find out what the ruckus was about so clearly J’dan could do the same. Dragons loved gossip as much as humans but when it came to the health of a precious gold, they were even looser lipped.

J’ver nodded and held an index finger to his lips, signalling J’dan to keep quiet for a few seconds and let the sounds of the shrieking dragons sink in. “Indeed I have. A bit hard to tune out all that noise. I hear she’ll be fine, however.”
