739.05.20 | You got a moment? - Kelikki - 20.May.18

Kelikki had taken up a small seat near the edge of the kitchen. Other drudges were buzzing around, preparing food or moving through the room with things in their hands. It was busy, the day had started hours ago and everyone had started their doings. So had she, but at the moment she had found a free moment in her day to sit down and eat something. No much, just a lump of bread and some dried meat. But it was, not much different from what she usually got. It was spares due to the time, everyone was always moving so lunch was never fancy for them.

Chewing on her breed the drudge wondered what her siblings were doing. Most likely working some were, She could imagine her sisters helping with laundry or housework. While her younger brother possibly was either working as well or with the holds harpers. He was still young, just short of 10 turns. She looked down at her bread, tapping her finger against the table for a moment lost in thought. The scent's in the kitchen were so easy to lose yourself in. Different kinds of bread cooling on a table, the fire's blazing leaving the scent in the room to be warm. She knew that the real god scent would first start later, when dinner was being prepared. She remembered being a young girl, back at Nabol hiding the kitchen while someone made dinner for the holder and his family. Just hiding and smelling to all the good stuff being made. Sometimes if the kook was in a good mood they be allowed to taste a tiny piece of something.

The thought had the young woman smile as she leaned against her elbow which rested on the table. Picking up the bread and eating another bite she smiled watching the kitchen workers, wondering if sometimes they to would be kind to a kid just standing and watching them make all kinds of good stuff for the holder and his family.

Xyliah

RE: 739.05.20 | You got a moment? - Xyliah - 21.May.18

Xyliah was in a good mood.

So far, her marriage to Jalazmar was going well! Sure there had been a bit of a hiccup what with his father dropping dead, and sure, his brother Gabrin was a complete ass and Xyliah did not like him at all (Azrin seemed nice, though! She was holding judgement on Jaetyn for the moment. He seemed very serious and sort of grumpy, but she felt that might be to do with his inheriting the Hold out of the blue. Who knew? She was going to give him some time before judgement though.) but overall his family seemed nice. She wasn’t sure why they werent’ living with them in High Reaches, but she wasn’t really upset with remaining so close to her own family – just a day trip away! – and she certainly didn’t dislike being so close to Kaylira… She was so jealous of her little firelizard though! Sooo cute!

At any rate, Xyliah had discovered – and embraced – the delightful life of going to bed early and rising late. Mostly this was (obviously) due to the extreme addiction both she and Jalazmar seemed to have for engaging in coitus at any possible moment. Xyliah loved it! She’d learned a lot about her body in the past few weeks, and she had learned a lot about his, too. Like what made him squirm and how to make his toes curl and the way her teeth should not be included when giving oral. That had been a disaster, if a freaking hilarious one, once she was sure she hadn’t caused any damage to (admittedly) one of her favourite parts of his body.

Humming happily to herself, and walking with a very visible bounce in her step, Xyliah made her way towards the kitchen after a very lazy and naked morning with her husband – and her cat, who had pounced on them in the middle of their activities and had Xyliah laughing too much to continue. She was pretty sure Jalazmar had given up in disgust, but she could be mistaken. She was just glad he hadn’t thrown her cat across the room, and to be fair, it wasn’t like they hadn’t been at it for several hours already by that point. Maybe he’d been relieved for the interruption? That thought made her giggle as she bounced into the kitchen area.

“Morning!” She cheered, knowing it was barely that and not worrying about the knowing looks she was given by some of the women, or the slight irritation that crossed the faces of some of the others. She knew a lot of them would be glad to see the back of her and Jalazmar and their late morning breakfasts and their demands not to be interrupted until they called for someone. This morning she’d decided she’d bathe – thus her long hair was in damp tangles down her back – and then have some (very) late breakfast while chatting to the kitchen staff before wandering off to see what Kaylira was up to. She was supposed to be helping Jalazmar with the whole new-home stuff, but she honestly found it boring and was quite happy to leave it to him when she could get away with it.

Smiling cheerfully when one of the ladies brought her a plate full of slices of cold meat, buttered bread, chunks of cheese and some slices of fruit, Xyliah looked over to her favourite spot to spend such late mornings, and tilted her head when she saw Kelikki. It took her a moment to recall the woman’s name, though she was glad she hadn’t lost it entirely. That would have been embarrassing! Making her way over, Xyliah smiled softly at the older woman. “Morning, Kelikki!” she said cheerfully, settling herself down across the bench from the woman. “Do you have a moment? I’d like to discuss some things with you!”

Maybe Jalazmar wouldn’t be grumpy at her missing another house-thingy session and leaving it all up to him if she organised some of their staff? She was fairly sure Kelikki and her siblings would like to know what would be expected of them when they moved into the new home, and Xyliah was interested in sorting out her ideas for the staff she’d been gifted. She hadn’t discussed it with Jalazmar yet, but she planned on changing their rank, too. Since they would be permanent members of their home, they shouldn’t be drudges! They should be staff, and earn at least some income for their work. Yanzi did, and while Xyliah couldn’t imagine paying anyone as much as she demanded her maid receive, she felt the young woman before her and her siblings would appreciate a bit of income each month to buy themselves something nice, if they wanted to.
