Nerreh stormed down the hallway, clutching a poorly wrapped package in her hands. The nerve of some people. She shot the package a sour glance, a small thing wrapped in a scrap of old fabric and tied closed with some twine. It had been a gift from a fellow candidate, one of the boys who had been found on Search. Idiot seemed to think if he gave her gifts she would sleep with him. Like fuck. The bastard was lucky he’d left it in her room instead of giving it to her directly. She would almost certainly have decked him. She might still deck him. Decking him was not limited to the one instance. For the moment, Nerreh was content to silently rage and try to walk off her anger. Maybe throw the package out a window if she came across one.
Wrapped up in her emotions as she was, Nerreh didn’t realize there was someone else walking in that particular hallway until she had almost run right into him. Without thinking about it, she shoved the package at his chest, not even slowing her pace.
“Here, you can have this.”
A few paces later, she froze. Nerreh hadn’t made a conscious decision at all, hadn’t even paid attention to who she’d given the gift. Faranth, she hadn’t even opened it, she had no idea what it might be. Panicking, she spun around to see a somewhat confused N’vian. Shit shit shit shit. This could be very bad.
