738.12.13 | A Golden Meeting - S'igi - 18.Dec.17

S’igi normally didn’t Weyr-hop without a good reason when the weather started to turn. He was content to be in Telgar in the warmer months but winter was turning out to be rather cold. The weather combined with the fact that he was getting a bit antsy and wanted someone new to play with made him decide it was time to travel. The Telgar residents were all swell and fine but some of the goldriders were tough nuts to crack and S’igi had heard that some of the girls in the other Weyrs hadn’t flown or mated – either human or dragon. It was a good enough reason as any to bundle up and go explore his options.

If he wanted to be honest with himself, there really wasn’t a need to win gold flights anymore. It didn’t bring along the status of Weyrleader, not that he wanted that job anyway. It did, however, still earn some bragging rights and Kovith would end up the proud papa to a clutch of no doubt strong and hardy dragonets. Kovith deserved a gold flight win more than S’igi really wanted one, though the bragging in general would be fun. He’d had a couple of goldriders since Katila formed but that was without flights and merely an easy conquest to add to the list.

He decided today’s goal would be Oenthi. He recalled her being at Katila and saw her in passing but he had never given her much thought at the time given her age and how fragile some of the Stolen ended up being. Now, though, she was in her twenties and Impressed to a gold. Seemed like a good time to introduce himself properly and leave her swooning over him.

He debated bringing wine or some sort of gift but then felt that’d be too obvious in what he was doing. What he did do, though, was tie a braided bracelet of vibrant colours around his wrist. At the Gather that just passed, he bought several with the sole intention of giving them away as little gifts to whomever tickled his fancy at the time. Oenthi might be the first lucky lady to receive one.

After gearing them both up, Kovith dove from their weyr and within seconds, they were circling above Fort Weyr. S’igi gave a little shiver as a chill ran through him both from between and emerging in a cooler location. He hoped he’d be in front of a warm fire soon enough but first he had to find Oenthi and hoped she wasn’t in her room. There would be plenty of time to get her alone and in her bed but he didn’t think it’d go over well meeting her there for the first time.

Once Kovith had landed, S’igi slid to the ground with ease and told the bronze to mingle as he saw fit, or to find a warm spot to nap. For his part, he headed first to the dining area, hoping Oenthi might be there. If not, maybe he could ask one of his friends still here if they knew where she’d be.
