734.12.12 | where there is smoke there if fire - Flora - 11.Apr.14

Flora hummed softly as she headed to the kitchen it was really early in the morning no one really was up yet and no one else seemed to be in the kitchen.  Well that should of been no problem for this adventurous girl. She would just make her own breakfast.   She heated up the stove  and turned to  gather up supplies not knowing that a cloth was to close to the heat and it sparked into a tiny flame.

She heard the blue firelizard cye start to squawk and looked up at him. " what is the matter?" she asked puzzled and  he sent her a vision of a flame. Flora at first didn't' get what he was trying to tell her. But then her eyes widened in  fear as she turned to the  now sparking flame as it began to spread a little further.  "Oh no no no Stop" she cried  looking for a pitcher of liquid to throw on it.   She squealed in fright when that did not work  but least it was still a small fire.
" Help " she cried out  weakly then grew in strength as her fear multiplied. " Hellllpp"

Re: where there is smoke there if fire [T'vor] - T'vor - 13.Apr.14

Early mornings were routine for T'vor after a few months of being a rider. Estelth liked to be up with the sun and left on his own for too long tended to end up getting into some sort of mischief or letting his curiosity get the better of him. He honestly didn't mind too much, at least once he'd had his morning klah. After making sure Estelth wasn't doing anything that would get either one of them in trouble he began his morning walk to the kitchens for his before breakfast klah.

The Weyr was generally quiet this early in the morning, which was likely the only reason T'vor noticed a faint cry for help soon followed by another more frantic call. The voice sounded female and young and he covered the rest of the distance to the kitchen at a run. Memories of the landslide flashed through his head and his heart pounded in his chest as he dashed into the kitchen.

His gaze went from the frightened young girl to the flaming clothl. "Shit!" The fire was still small, but still dangerous if it got the chance to really get going. "Get back!" He said, waving the girl toward safety as he looked around for something to douse the flames with. Fire was always a risk in the area and a nearby bucket provided a quick solution. Filling it from the nearby pool he dumped it over the cloth. That did the job, but left a lovely dripping mess of water and burnt fabric bits pooling on the counter and running down onto the floor. "T'vor what's wrong? The blue fear and worry mirrored his rider's and T'vor quickly sent his dragon soothing thoughts. "I'm fine Es, just a little fire in the kitchen. Nothing to worry about." "Well as long as it was just a little one." He answered wryly.

Now that the crisis had  passed he turned back to face the girl. Flora, that was her name. "Are you okay? What happened?" He asked gently, setting the bucket aside. She was one of the younger candidates, and perhaps a bit to young to messing about in the kitchen without supervision. He didn't want to consider what might could have happened if he hadn't come along. One disaster was enough for a lifetime.

Re: where there is smoke there if fire [T'vor] - Flora - 19.Apr.14

Flora  shrugged her shoulders. " I really have no idea how it happened.  One minute i was  turned around  and grabbing some stuff and the next i looked back and it was a flame. I guess i didn't notice it was to close.  Didn't think it could just ignite like that.  " Flora still looked highly upset about it all. She knew that without help it might of spread further and people could of got hurt.

She nibbled her bottom lip warily.  "umm ya won't tell anyone about that will you." she wondered how much trouble she would be in for  starting a fire even though it was a accident on her part. She defiantly would get to work in the kitchen anymore around the stove that was for sure. They would never let her near one again.

And worse she was still hungry and was now to  nervous to try and make something so she was gonna have to wait till breakfast.  "Thank you for helping me, I'm sorry to of been such a bother. " She though maybe she'd go out in the forest and find some berries that would be safer in the long run for her.

Her explanation covered what he'd already surmised about the event. A moment's distraction and inexperience combined had nearly caused a disaster. The girl already seemed plenty upset over her near miss, and T'vor had gotten into enough trouble as a child that he didn't feel the need to chastise the girl further. She was lucky though he'd foudn her and not one of the older riders or one of the kitchen staff.

T'vor gave a quick shake of his head. "No real harm done and as long as we get this cleaned up no one will find out." He said, giving Flora a reassuring smile. "But, no more cooking unless someone else is around." He cautioned, glancing toward the mess the incident had left behind.

"Well lets say we get this cleaned up and then we can pretend it never happened." He offered. Keeping his mouth shut would be much help if one of the kitchen workers wandered in and demanded to know what had happened. He had no desire to be around if that happened and doubted being a Weyrlings would spare him a scolding. "I'm T'vor by the way. Your Flora right?" He asked, crouching down to pick up some of the larger pieces of blackened fabric from the floor.

flora set about  taking care of the mess she made. She was glad not to get scolded for she knew that she really did have a great blunder but least it didn't end up to bad and not to bad of a mess to clean up and soon she was done. she looked around once again to see if she had missed anything but she couldn't find a things wrong.
She smiled up sweetly at T'vor " Thank you so much for your help Sir. I promise no more cooking without someone who knows what they are doing.  "
