An Awesome Discovery. [Solo] - Zelina - 27.Nov.13

Zelina had managed to beg and plead enough to be let outside. She had
been stuck indoors for far too long with all the rain and she just
needed to play outside. It didn't take her long to find herself
along the river's edge near the weyr, a place where she normally went
to swim. The water's weren't as inviting today however, being cold
from all the fresh rain.

The river seemed to be over-full, the waters reaching much higher than
where Zelina had remembered them being, and because of this, she felt
the need to explore. She walked looking down so that she wouldn't slip
into the waters, or step into some of the deeper mud, and as she
walked she searched for anything that might be turned into a game or
toy. Suddenly something white caught her eye, a little bit further
from the water's edge, and she wouldn't have seen it had she not been
where she was. It seemed strange among all the brown of the mud, and
when she got closer, she saw that it was an egg, well one egg and many
shells that were also once eggs. It seemed that they had been ravaged
by some animal that had had it's fill before finishing the last one.

Without thinking, Zelina reached down and picked up the little egg,
and thrust it into her pocket. Surprisingly, the mud had somehow kept
it warm, that or Zelina had scared the mother away from the egg
unknowingly.  She began her trek back home, excitement overflowing and
already planning to brag to her parents about what she had found.

Her pocket moved.

It took her several minutes to realize that the egg was hatching, and
by the time she realized it, the little green had already started to
come out of the shell. Zelina reached quickly into her pocket, and
carefully pulled the cracked shell out along with the baby that was
fighting to be free of it's shell. Soon the shell was burst through
and the green firelizard, seemed a bit dazed in her hand to be suddenly free. It wasn't long until the little thing began to keen in hunger, and suddenly Zelina realized that she could feel the little one's hunger. With haste, she began to resume her trip back to the weyr, this time, though angled towards the kitchen. Her own urgency increased by the mental push from the little green's hunger. Zelina hadn't even thought about trying to decide a name for the little green.  As she walked, she cupped the baby in her hands both carefully and protectively. Already feeling deeply attached to her.
