Dragonbath in the Rain [Open!] - T'ken - 06.Nov.13

Shirt off and pants rolled up to the knee, T'ken ignored the rain that drizzled from the sky as he set up for the enormous task of washing Indrith.  The brown wriggled in anticipation of the bath, even happier that Kela had been left with Ravana and Berani than he was at the prospect of a bath.  He knew it would only be a spot oiling today but his bonded was wonderfully particular about oiling him often.

Seeing the bruises on his rider's toned body, the brown paused and lowered his head, remembering where they had come from.  He should have been able to protect him.  He shouldn't have obeyed Berruth's order to freeze...The brown lifted his head when hands touched his browridges, giving a good scratch.

Stop it.  You were overpowered, that's all.  I don't blame you.  T'ken patted his brown, wishing he could get him to stop brooding.  Finally, the dragon turned his head to face his bonded.  T'ken stepped forward, wrapping his arms around his dragon's head.  He soothed away the worry and hurt he felt from his brown, struggling with the task.

He was better at understanding the physical aspects of the bond between him and the brown.  Taking care of Indrith was no problem.  He was good at keeping him fed, oiled and bathed.  He was even good with the drills and lessons they practised.  He still struggled with things like blocking the brown, looking through his eyes and letting Indrith look through his eyes.  Half the time he didn't know when the brown was pawing through his memories...and while he'd been told that it would come with time...he knew he was behind his class on that part of the bond.

T'ken felt his brown cheering up and smiled.  Looked like this time, he'd gotten it right.  Deliberately keeping his thoughts off yesterday, he spoke softly.  "How about we go for a run after this, hmm?  Work on our ponyrides?  I seem to remember a lecture because I fell off last time."  The dragon perked further and T'ken gave him a fond scratch.

Quietly he begun bathing the dragon, working on the hardest part first.  Indrith's face was always trickiest for T'ken, and he would always take care with not getting soap in his dragon's eyes and making sure he rinsed all the soap sand off the various crevasses of the brown's head and muzzle.  When he was done, Indrith dunked his entire head in the lake, and let his rider clamber onto his back and up his neck.  Working with generous handfuls of soapsand, he began scrubbing down Indrith's neck, feeling the dragon pressing into his touch whenever T'ken hit a spot that was tense.

Company.  Turning partway, T'ken saw the company.  Not really in the mood to socialize, he nonetheless gave a wave and turned back to washing his brown.  He had hoped the rain tumbling from the sky would have discouraged most from coming here...but it looked like some people needed the lake, raining or not.
