From A Friend [Solo] - T'lian - 15.Apr.13

T'lian woke earlier than normal, roused from pleasant dreams by Fellis' chirping. The young man's eyes opened slowly, watching with some confusion as the tiny blue hopped eagerly on his chest, eyes racing with yellow and orange. Tal's forehead furrowed with concern and he quickly sat up, cradling the little blue in both hands and frowning.  He couldn't exactly sense fear in his little friend, but there was a touch of confusion and anxiety that he didn't quite understand how to deal with.

"Shhh, be quiet little friend," he urged, petting the little beast with one hand while holding him close to his chest with the other. "What's gotten you so upset?"

More squeaks.

He sighed and rose to his feet. It was nice to be in his own room again, though he'd almost had a heart attack over people touching his things while he was trapped in the weyrling barracks. Most of his classmates had huts by now, but T'lian had been thankful when he was told that he could stay in the Hall once more. Khaduceth insisted, knowing well that the Hall was where his bonded was happiest. Khaduceth himself was going to be sleeping outside either way, so he hardly saw how it mattered. T'lian liked the hall and Khaduceth had no attachment to anywhere else, so this this arrangement was best.

Right now, Khaduceth was asleep. T'lian reached out for him, but when he found him unresponsive, he had to deal with Fellis blind. Too bad. Khaduceth might have seen something. T'lian concentrated, trying to find the source of his pet's discomfort. He soon determined that Fellis had been woken by a presence lingering outside the door, but had been too frightened of it to investigate.

Well, that wasn't so unusual. Fellis was indeed timid and shy around strangers, but who could it had been? Fellis liked B'jin and V'ler, and who else would visit this early? If it had been an emergency, he'd have been woken...

T'lian rose to his feet and scooped Fellis into one arm. He walked over to his door and peered outside, where he was greeted by something quite unusual. There was a small iron pot on the floor. He frowned and bent down, touching it lightly to find that it was warm to the touch, as if it had been recently taken off heat.

He opened it up and was unsurprised at the contents, at least at first. The pot was filled with sand, and as T'lian dusted it off a bit more, he found the smooth surface of a fire lizard egg. That was the expected part. After a moment of study, he found that the eggshell had a faint golden luster about it.

A queen? Someone had left him a queen fire lizard?

He blinked a few times and lifted the pot. A queen fire lizard? He hardly needed another pet, but what would he do with it?

He turned around to take it inside and immediately noticed a a note on his door. It was brief, but terribly sappy. He found himself blushing and immediately wondering if V'ler had left it for him, but a moment of careful thought made him realize that it was wishful thinking. V'ler may have been a close friend and a likely candidate for generous gift-giving, but he was hardly the 'romantic note' type...and Fellis wasn't afraid of him.

The little beast seemed to be guilty for his failure to glimpse the gift-giver. He crooned and crawled onto T'lian's shoulder before projecting the only memory of the visitor that he could: the scent.

T'lian couldn't exactly decipher the scent and didn't know what to make of it, but something about it made his stomach churn. It was familiar in some way, and it recalled some vague, hazy memories that must have been bad to make the bile rise in his throat like they did.  He shuddered, then walked inside.

Fellis was probably just confused. Tal would figure it out later...for now, he needed to keep this little girl warm.
