Re: Cross-hatching [Future Designs Hatching] - B'jin - 30.Dec.12

Waiting for the remaining eggs to Hatch was painfully boring, and more than a little stressful as B'jin watched Talian try not to fidget. B'jin was leaning lazily against R'nd, one hand sharing woven fingers while he rested his head on the bluerider's shoulders, half dozing as Larrikith kept watch over the Weyrling Barracks and the young pairs she had guided there. B'jin hoped they managed to sleep for a long while, it was such an exhausting ordeal to start with, and the hour was doing little to help. Sighing softly, B'jin shifted his weight and stepped in front of R'nd, lifting their arms lazily over his head so he could lean back against his lover's chest. His chin dropped to rest on his own chest, the greenrider returning to his lazy dozing while the eggs bored them with their lack of activity.

Wake up, love, Larrikith's voice was a gentle brush against the edges of B'jin's mind, and brown eyes fluttered open and a fuzzy and entierly asleep protest was sent back to the dragon, he wasn't sleeping... much. Wriggling against R'nd where his shoulders were slump against R'nd's legs the greenrider realised with a scrunch of his nose that he'd slid down to a sitting position at some point and lost his grip on the bluerider's hand. Blinking blearily, B'jin tilted his head back and frowned up at R'nd before shifting his gaze back to the Hatching Sands. Yawning, B'jin rose gracefully, then slumped back against R'nd.

Ugh, how long? B'jin poked his dragon, even as two of the eggs finally succeeded in escaping their shells, tumbling across the sands and dashing for their new rider to be. He'd barely managed to shift his gaze back to the next dragonet that had made an appearance before Larrikith was shrieking so loudly he unintentionally slapped both hands over his ears and stared with horror at Talian. Talian! TALIAN IMPRESSED! B'JIN! TALIAN IMPRESSED! HE IMPRESSED A BROWN! B'JIN! Anyone that had an ounce of empathy was bound to be assaulted by the squealing joy of Larrikith's voice as the octave went up by several levels. "ENOUGH, LARRIKITH!" B'jin, hands still slammed over his ears, snapped viciously and slowly lowered his hands as her voice (which was echoing!) slowly faded from the confines of his brain.

Wide brown eyes stared over the Sands, staring at the silhouette of Talian clinging to his dragonet, and B'jin's left hand searched for and snagged one of R'nd's, the fingers entwining as the trembling greenrider pressed back against his lover. B'jin watched Talian and his dragonet approach similarly as he might a ticking bomb about to explode, the greenrider jumping slightly when Talian spoke his name, noticing the boys tears even as he was oblivious to his own. Most dragonriders were moved to tears at Hatchings - all the joyful memories of their own Impression. All B'jin could feel was the impending doom of deja-vu, and the quiet assertion of Talian's love for his little dragonet had the greenrider's entire body seize in a dry heave.

It was better, of course, that Talian should feel a connection more positive than B'jin had when he had Impressed, the greenrider going for so long refusing to even acknowledge his dragonet's name, let along speak it or tell her he loved her. Even now, the endearment came most often from the dragon herself, rather than her human, whom they both knew - on some deeply hidden level - truly did hate her for ruining his life. B'jin swallowed, tearing his gaze from Talian to focus on the next two newly Impressed that made their way over, his voice coming clear and without a hint of the turmoil that was otherwise obvious (at least to R'nd, through his insistent trembling) as he instructed the newest little group to feed their dragonets.

"When they're full, put some oil on any spots they complain to being itchy. We'll bath them properly at a more decent hour. Then head over to the Barracks; the front most rooms will likely be occupied by the rest of the group. Find a room and go to sleep - It's too fucking early, and you won't be able to walk straight in another twenty minutes anyway, from half asleep dragons." The greenrider puffed out a breath, turning slightly as a green dragonet choked on her food, B'jin scowling as the young rider to be flushed crimson at letting her eat too much at once and getting caught.

"Get fucked, S'kef," B'jin snarled, lip curling as proverbial hackles rose, the greenrider glaring at the wanna-be weyrleader as he slunk off with J'ver in toe, unconsciously stepping just slightly so he was in front of both R'nd and the kneeling Talian. Brown eyes were narrowed, but the stance gave no indication of any desire to attack. Protect, certainly, but never attack. In the back of his mind, B'jin heard Larrikith rumble unhappily as she paced before the Barrack's main entrance.

The greenrider watched S'kef and J'ver for a moment longer, before offering a hand to Talian to assist with hauling the young man to his feet. His attention shifted almost immediately to the others, as oil was given to those that were full, and B'jin sighed melodramatically as one of the kids appeared to have forgotten everything he and Larrikith had told them about oiling and B'jin went to help the boy.

Two turns. How was he going to survive two turns?! Desperate eyes sought out R'nd over the top of the tiny blue dragonet and the kneeling rider-to-be. Dear great Faranth, help. B'jin gave his not-weyrmate a wry smile, and then answered a question. "Yeah, like that."

Hyper dramatic emotional rollercoaster B'jin, anyone?
>> He's totally ignoring and pretending he's not really ignoring Talian. Sorry kiddo, your daddy has issues XD *snuggles Talian* he'll get over them <33

ALSO - ONE OF THE BABY BLUERIDERS IS TOTALLY THE KID THAT THINKS BROWNS FLY BLUES. ^ that bluerider, to be precise. *annotates him*

Re: Cross-hatching [Future Designs Hatching] - R'nd - 30.Dec.12

R’nd would have been more than happy to fall asleep where he stood as well with the way B’jin rested against him and the quiet that took over the Sands as they waited for the rest of the clutch to hopefully break shell. He was excited about the event and couldn’t wait to see the rest of the dragonets and new pairs but he was tired and being used as a pillow – even vertically as they were – had started to become somewhere down the line a comfort thing where it relaxed him and it felt oddly right to have the greenrider tucked against him. Thankfully his mind wasn’t entirely turned on to catch the deeper meaning behind that revelation and R’nd continued to exist in blissful obliviousness.

When B’jin started to slink down, clearly having given in to the wonderful urge to sleep, R’nd briefly wrapped his arms around his lover’s waist to hold him upright. All too soon, however, it became clear that’s what he was doing and he had no choice but to let the greenrider slide gracefully down to sit on the hot sand and R’nd’s toes. He didn’t need feeling in them anyway! The look he received when B’jin woke was somewhat precious and R’nd gave a sheepish grin in response. He’d explain later how B’jin looked like a ragdoll and sitting was the lesser of two evils.

No sooner had B’jin settled back in against his chest and R’nd had made a grab for hands again did Larrikith start her shrieking of joy. Hands were pulled away to copy B’jin in covering his ears; something both men knew was pointless since the voice was inside their minds and couldn’t be shut off with the force Larrikith hit them with. “Thanks, Larrikith!” R’nd yelled in time with B’jin’s order for the dragon to stop. If he ever needed a reason to regret letting the spunky dragon hang out in his mind, that would have been it though the bluerider suspected from reactions around him that it wouldn’t have mattered anyway.

Once the ringing stopped, Larrikith’s words sank in and R’nd sought out Talian and saw him hugging a dragonet and getting to his feet. That was good, right? No, bad? Talian was a Healer and his knowledge invaluable, that was something most would agree on. R’nd remembered their awkward chat in the Bathhouse and how he had told Talian exactly that and he wished the younger man could avoid Standing and be their needed Healer. But any Impression was a good one, especially with their low population. R’nd was a man that believed things happened for a reason. He hadn’t Impressed at his first clutch in Benden because the plague hit soon after. The exile made him stronger as a person and more open in other areas. Impressing Ayyonth completed him and made all the trials before worth it. Even B’jin’s Impression happened for a reason and like R’nd had tried to point out once in a silly moment of sappy flirting, if Larrikith hadn’t chosen B’jin, they wouldn’t have met and wouldn’t be canoodling on the Sands as dragonets burst free of their shells.

So R’nd believed there was something to Talian Impressing as well. He didn’t know yet, he didn’t even know the colour as the Healer made his way slowly towards them, but R’nd knew they would find out soon enough. For now, he’d take the colour of the dragon and when he could see clearly, his jaw dropped in disbelief. Brown? B’jin would already be losing his mind over the Impression in general but now he had to see a brown dragon hanging around his son’s ankles. It was going to be hard adjusting over the next few months, R’nd had no doubt. Like with most of the weyrlings, Talian addressed B’jin but B’jin was still a bit dazed and was suddenly barking out orders to the group at large and crushing R’nd’s hand as it was captured in a death grip. He said nothing but only gave a small smile to the new brown weyrling. “Congratulations, Talian. Let us know if you need anything else and we’ll… B’jin will talk with you more after everyone’s slept.” They may have been on better terms but R’nd didn’t want to assume they were best of buddies or that he was even seen as a minion to the Weyrlingmaster and should be spoken to.

R’nd barely managed to brush a kiss against B’jin’s neck before S’kef and J’ver slithered up to them and made their dig at Talian. Any time the brownrider was near was enough to make R’nd see red but when he addressed B’jin in any way was enough to make him wish for a rematch from their last fight. He stayed still though, only tensing in body and then placing a hand on B’jin’s hip when he saw the greenrider take up a protective stance. That was something he adored about the greenrider and that they had in common. Both of them would put themselves in the line of fire to protect those important to them.

Once again his efforts to draw B’jin in close, this time for a little post-S’kef comforting, were blocked as B’jin moved to help Talian up and then went to the kid that was going to be a nightmare to deal with. R’nd rarely did any sort of betting but he didn’t need to be a bookie to know that kid hadn’t been marked down to Impress. Browns flying blues, indeed!  Still, he was a good kid and a dragon also saw the potential in him so there wasn’t a chance R’nd could turn his back on the kid. When B’jin gave him a look over the boy’s head, all he could do was smile and nod in understanding before crouching down to take over helping him so they could all get to bed a few minutes sooner. And bed was definitely his current goal!
