It wasn’t a dud after all - S'jin - 16.Nov.12
The next morning after the other egg had hatched reveling a lovely little green fire lizard. Seijin though the egg he found with Echlerov wasn’t going to hatch at all. He had checked on the egg throughout the night and even went for food but it didn’t hatch with the first one. He decided to get some rest and laid down on the cot with little Lana curled on the pillow above his head.
He got up kind of early in the morning but this time he didn’t check on the other egg just fed Lana and started to get ready for the day. That is till Lana started to chirp and fuss and pulled at his hair till he followed her to the pot where the other egg was. He approached the table finally after much coaxing from Lana to come look and he glanced into the pot. He couldn’t believe his eyes. The other egg was hatching he saw lots of tiny cracks all over the egg. It looked like he missed most of the hatching already with so many cracks in the egg already. But at least he didn’t miss the baby coming out of the shell. He watched as the cracks got bigger and bigger till finally a tiny head pushed it way out of the cracking shell. The tiny brown head looked this way and that.
Lana greeted the new arrival with soft chirps and trills. The brown wiggled more out of the shell till finally all the cracks gave way split in half freeing the little brown. Seijin jumped up and went to get the meat he had saved from last night when he was hoping the second egg would hatch. He smiled as the brown attacked his hand for the food. He moved his hand back quickly as the firelizard snatched up the meat coming very close to his fingers. “Careful my fingers are not food.” He watched the brown eat. It dropped the meat on the table and then picked it up in his claws again to eat. “I know what to call you I’ll name you Claus.” Seijin said happily. He now had a green and a brown firelizard. His life had defiantly become much more interesting with Lana and Claus in his life. He picked Claus up and carried him back to the bed and watched as Lana joined them as well He curled Claus against him cradling him in his arms as the hatchling sleep after filling his belly.
