A party needs a good dessert, and that meant berries but not those tiny little terrible blue things that make me uncomfortably itchy, so instead I decided to go pick my own with Quil...

And then I proceeded to get uncomfortable and itchy. At least she waited to laugh until after she made sure I was fine. Fell into some thorn bushes and now my arms and part of my face are all scratched up in time for the upcoming celebration. But that's fine, students and peers have made fun of me for both worse and less tragedies than my dashingly handsome face getting a bit scuffed.

A Master! Part of me is still surprised it's happening. Now to just slap as much cream from the healer as I can on all of these annoying and itchy little cuts and scrapes in the hopes they heal up faster.

I should work on a new play, probably something about all the drama that the dragonriders are dealing with in the Weyrs.

I accidentally found Geric's diary. I wasn't snooping, I just had dropped something and noticed the floorboard was loose and there was a small simple book under it. It wasn't labled so I cracked it open, then saw it was in code, then of course I had to keep looking at it to figure out what it was, and then Geric snatched it from me and ran. Before I could apologize he'd thrown it into the fireplace. He insists it was just a mild panic about he'd written something about a girl in there, and sure he's a jumpy fellow when it comes to... interpersonal matters, but even that seems a bit extreme. Maybe he's worried I'll "find out" he's talking about a man instead? At least, I'm pretty sure he's attracted to men. Eh. I'll try to encourage him to talk to me later on, otherwise I'll just try to give him some space to calm down.

Someone poisoned Mylorah. I'd been researching the attacks that have been popping up in the Weyrs, but finding out she'd been affected hits... differently. I'm a bit upset I didn't find out sooner. Hopefully she's recovering well.

I'm just glad Mylo's doing well. She was her bright and jubilant self which... well. It was quite the eventful party once the hatching was over. Her brother was certainly friendly.

Oh! I did run into Ulliendis! He seems to be enjoying his assignment with the dragonmen. At least that's what I'm assuming he's doing since he was delightfully twitchy.

I have the best wife and she brings me the best things like this most delicious pie. I'll have to figure out what I did to make her love me, since clearly she didn't before this point or I'd have already had this pie before. I should learn to cook a special treat for her too, something nice. Geric can help.

Had to remind a journeyman that unlike some people I'm quite fond of my wife and any comments made to disparage her will not be taken in the kind and joking manner they may think they intend. I'm the only one who gets to villainize my dark and powerful queen and only because she has me wrapped around her little finger.

Sent Geric to the market and he came back looking like he'd seen a ghost. He's clamming up, but I wonder if someone at the Hall is picking on him again... maybe that Vandrelic fellow. I'll keep an ear out at the Hall. Can't just ask, I know better than to just put a bigger target on his back by being the older brother threatening to beat someone up.

Took Quil out and had her ride Bart through the snow. They both had a good time. Bart looked like a young stallion the way he was carrying on, prancing about in the snow with his hooves high and his head tossing about like he was showing off. And atop him Quil just looked majestic and beautiful as she laughed at his antics. I keep wanting to get her something nice to spoil her, but she keeps telling me no. At least I can give her moments.

I'm worried about Geric. Something's wrong, but he says he's just tired, hasn't slept well. I'll have to see if Quil will talk to him, he likes her.

There's been demand for another play about the dragonriders and the evil Lord Ashcobble. I might have to pay a visit to the Weyrs soon for ideas, see if there's been any news they've tried to keep under wraps. Mylorah hasn't mentioned anything in her letters though so probably not.

When I talked to Quil, she was delightfully vague about it all, but had insisted that Geric was handling it himself so I let it be for a few days and just kept a closer eye on him. He actually did visit a girl in a public place to have a very quiet talk that I couldn't hear (and he has this annoying habit of scratching at his face when he's nervous so I couldn't even try to read his lips). She didn't slap him, so I'm going to just let him be.

It's not that I don't trust my wife, it was more I wanted to make sure my baby brother wasn't going to disappoint her. Anyway, I suppose I'll see how things go.

Well that was just a lot of poor timing. First Geric has a fainting spell because Mylorah walks in on him during his letter writing with someone presumably about that baby. It's taking longer than I thought it would, you'd think he knocked up some foreign holder's child. Anyway, first the fainting spell, then the skeleton closet incident. I'm sure there's some third calamity that's going to happen soon, but not sure what it is. At least Mylorah still managed to have a good time at the party, it really was the best I could hope for after that bit of business.

Well now I can't sleep, though I still replied thanking Mylorah for letting me know what had happened promptly. I hope Tiberuth recovers well, and I hope... well it'll take time and who knows what else for that bit about his girlfriend. He was expecting to be a father too. I remember what it was like to lose ((there is a scratched out word here)) my wife. I needed time, a change, and I was lucky enough that I managed to meet someone who brought me peace. She was also an amazing bartender. I hope K'dar doesn't take as long as I had to to find whatever will bring him peace when this is over with.

I'll be heading to Telgar Weyr tomorrow, managed to find transportation. Geric will be coming with but only staying for a few days to help me with the interviews I think. I doubt he'll stay for the hatching and I'd rather not leave Quil alone for that long anyway. Brought some books for K'dar, managed to get a trade for a flute too but I think I'll also bring this little mandolin along for Mylorah as well. If she wants she can regift it to someone else but I'm going to see if I can teach her a tune on it. Though from the letters I received Orgailian is getting my first night there. It seems he liked the guitar I sent him.

Someone tried to poison Mylorah. Good thing I was there to just playfully steal a sip or who knows what could have happened... well I know what could have happened. THEN SHE TRIED TO TAKE IT BACK TO DRINK IT AFTER I TOLD HER IT WAS POISONED! As if she could somehow detect it better that way. I swear I do not know how she can be so clever and vibrant and full of life and then just ((there's a frantic mass of scribbling here))

At least once she'd calmed down I convinced her to report the issue to the Weyrleader, but discreetly and suggest he keep his discretion too. It might help them ferret out whoever did this if they announce the crime with no details and see who either knows more than they should or comes around asking awkward questions of the healers.

I'm still so angry that I'm shaking, but at least I held things together until she left to go speak with S'far. Shit. What if they're still out there watching? I should have gone with her. Fret will help me catch up and we can make sure she gets there unharmed. After that I'm just going to hold her and she can fight me all she wants about it.

Talked to S'far, that asshole he is beneath us at least willing to do something but I don't remember what. He didn't seem too bothered by it, but I am still trapped here and I have a household to move in a panic AFTER I talk to my wife who doesn't matt-NOW LISTEN HERE YOU LITTLE SHIT YOU STOLE MY NAME YOU WILL NOT STEAL MY WIFE DON'T THINK I'M NOT WILLING TO GO INSANE I AM A MASTER OF THEATRICS IT WILL ONLY HELP MY GRAND WORKS!

I still haven't had much time to even think about Geric's odd behavior at the party a couple days ago. I still think I might have just dreamt the whole thing except Mylo saw it too. Anyway Oncaeth, that little Maestro of Mischief and Misery, has been especially sulky since I scolded him about insulting Quilriana. Or yelled at him. Threatened? It doesn't matter, I was not in a good mental place and he's a child. Dragon. Dragon child. He still doesn't quite understand how relationships work, but I've at least convinced him that he doesn't have to fight anyone to keep me. We're stuck together even if I already have a wife and a life beyond here. Just have to figure out how to adjust. I even read him the letter that Quil wrote back to prove that she wasn't upset and didn't want to fight him about it either. Hopefully he gets more secure as he gets older (and hopefully before the baby is born).

I'm going to probably take another nap with him, he likes it when I cuddle him and it's the least I can do to try and reassure him that things will be okay. Maybe I'll read some stories to him later, he really liked just having the letter read to him so getting him a proper story should be quite mind blowing.

I never imagined it would be so incredibly lonely to be so close to Mylorah. At least she has her knight.

Hopefully I'll be able to at least see Quil soon. Fret has been spending more and more time with her since I've been here, probably because he can tell I miss her.

I miss her too much. At least I get to write letters to Quil. But... well it would be incredibly juvenile to just... pass a note... Huh. Maybe the Maestro is onto something.

Fuck it, juvenile or not I can at least talk to her this way. Fret will probably think it's ridiculous but I don't care.
