Latest Updates

2023/08/04 Hello loves! While I haven't been writing, I have been working on updating some issues that have been hanging around on the layout! The Character change box is now at the bottom of the page, beside the up/down arrows! Green and Gold dragon flight dates have been shifted to the bottom of the page, where the (useless!) discord widget was located. Where the dragon flights were in the header, is now replaced by a Monthly Event box! This will be updated at the start of each month, with a fun mini-event you can take part in, if you want to! Thistle!

Young as he was, N’mor was man enough to admit when he had a crush, and he definitely had a crush on the Weyrwoman of his Weyr. He didn’t expect – nor want – something to come of it; he was quite content with his position in the Weyr and would have died if Rhezalth had decided to give chase to Mizeath (not that he expected anyone but Mosiath would ever win) but that was all neither here nor there. In the end, N’mor appreciated Ameris, respected her greatly, and wanted to let her know that she was doing a fantastic job… Not that he didn’t expect M’ris to tell her frequently how wonderful she was but as a future Weyrleader (he had his eyes on the prize!) N’mor felt it was important to tell people they were appreciated.

You’re rambling, the bronze dragon inserted, sending N’mor’s thoughts scattering with a laugh. The young man huffed a sigh and chewed on his bottom lip. Your gift is thoughtful. She will appreciate it. So give it to her. The dragon was both amused and exasperated by his rider’s hesitation; N’mor was a couple of corridors away from the Weyrleader’s quarters. In his arm, he was carrying a carefully wrapped gift, the wrapping made of a soft baby blanket that he figured she could use for her daughter or any future children she might have. The gift inside was more focused on the woman than her child or partner; as much as he respected her, he didn’t really know what she liked. Therefore, he got her a little bit of everything.

There was a bottle of fine Benden wine – which N’mor had not bought; he had actually stolen it from his father’s weyr, much to the amusement of Larrikith who had kept Rhezalth company while N’mor snooped. There was something thrilling in stealing alcohol from his father that N’mor hoped he’d never grow out of it. It was such fun, and he figured it was probably not something Ameris would treat herself to, though he knew his father would be quite happy to go and buy several more bottles. In addition to the stolen booze, N’mor had found some nicely scented bath oils that his aunt seemed to favour (not stolen, but her suggestion) and a simple necklace he’d found at a Gather, with a dragon pendant cast in sparkling stone with a green gem for the eye. N’mor thought it was pretty and figured she’d like it.

What if it’s too much? N’mor fretted, shifting the small package slightly and frowning uncomfortably. The wine was the most expensive item, by a fair shot, but since he’d stolen it off his dad he didn’t think it really counted. Would you just go give the stuff to her? I want a bath. N’mor sighed, but smiled slightly and shook his head. Useless dragon! Licking his lips, N’mor made his way to the Weyrleaders’ weyr, and knocked on the door, carefully balancing the gift as he did so. Is she even in?

How should I know?

Ameris laughed at the antics of her children. Rislan would do anything to make his little sister laugh and the serious little boy was playing the most ridiculous game of peek-a-boo possible. It was working though, the small girl giggled and laughed loudly. It made Ameris' heart sing with the love she had for her children and possibly the love she had for Eris' father. Without M'ris and his bronze, Eris would not exist and Ameris' life wouldn't be as full as it was now. She would have to thank the bronzerider properly at some point. I would think, Ameris dear, that it would be I that deserved the thanks. After all, if I had not taken such a shine to Mosiath none of this would be possible, her dragon told her with such put out tones that Ameris laughed again. It was true enough, Ameris was quite proud that Mizeath had finally chosen a suitor for keeps this time. The goldrider had despaired that the gold would ever settle on a single bronze before settling on Mosiath. None were really worthy, you know, none until him.

Chuckling Ameris scooped her little girl up from where she sat panting with her laughter and tossed in the air amidst more giggles and laughter. Oh yes. Her heart was full. You have a visitor, dearest, Mizeath informed her from where she lounged on her couch, trying to entice Rislan into playing with her flipping tail. It would be better suited to do such enticing for Eris you know, Rislan has become a serious boy and not one given to flights of fancy anymore, she told the gold as she waited for the knock against her door. Mhmm...If you say so, was Mizeath's only reply as she snatched her tail from the grip of the boy who'd been so enticed.

The knock came and Ameris shifted her still giggling daughter onto her other hip and made her way to the door. Swinging it open she stopped and gaped for just a moment. Definitely not the visitor she'd expected. One she'd truthfully forgotten had existed, though she shouldn't have, the bronzeriders were something she should always know. In her defense, M'ris was generally the only one that concerned her. "N'mor!" she exclaimed to cover her disbelief, "What brings you by? Nothing's happened has it?" She moved back to allow the boy in, trying to remember everything she knew about B'jin's son. It wasn't much. "Come on in," she told him politely, "Mind the mess though, the kids have been on a terror lately."

N'mor

(I am all the awful!)

It took a great deal of inner strength not to fidget as he waited for his knock to be answered. It wasn’t even that the time between knocking and Ameris opening the door was a long one – it couldn’t have been any longer than it likely took her to walk to the door form wherever she’d been – but with his discomfort over giving the gifts to the woman, N’mor felt like it was an eternity. When she did finally open the door and stare at him, he stared right on back.

A frown furrowed his eyebrows at the question of something happening, and he shook his head slightly. “No ma’am,” he replied, giving a slightly crooked smile as he answered, and his attention being diverted by the toddler on her hip and the warning of a mess inside. “For all that she is a proper lady now,” N’mor said, stressing the words and stepping inside when invited, “Amorandii was an absolute terror.” He tossed a wink at the little girl on Ameris’ hip, and looked around the weyr curiously but not with enough attention to be invasive.

“I hope I’m not interrupting?” N’mor asked with a slight frown. It was obvious Ameris wasn’t busy with Weyr work, but he knew family time was just as important – especially to those who couldn’t always wrangle it. “I have some things I wanted to bring you,” he said after a slight pause, giving a slight lift to the small package.
