With their clutchmates spread across all of the Weyrs, R’vi hadn’t really thought too much on doing a large celebration for Vydoriath’s special day. He was always up for a good party and his dragon was of the happier variety, which meant he should have had the entire tiny population of Igen Weyr in party hats and downing wine with cake, but R’vi was still getting back into the swing of things after the move and readjusting of everything. So a quiet day together had been decided on, at least, until Venseth informed him he had been summoned to meet Indivara at Ista and with a pie, no less.
It was an odd summons but one R’vi wasn’t going to turn down. Given the day, he knew why she wanted to get together, despite her own odd behaviour of ignoring her own birthday. If memory served him correctly, R’nd did that as well. What was wrong with them? Why not soak up the extra attention a day dedicated to your existence would bring? Then again, Indivara wasn’t one to crave that much attention and R’nd got it on a daily basis so maybe there was a strategy behind what they did.
Either way, he had a small party to attend to! He hadn’t missed the way Venseth had mentioned the bubbly pie should be for two people. Unless V’ler was on a diet – he did kind of look like he was putting on weight the last time they crossed paths – or it really would only be the two of them with their dragons. R’vi was fine with the invitation list, though he now had the fun task of finding a pie. While he had decent cooking skills, there definitely weren’t enough within him to produce an edible sweet pie. Luckily, he did know the right person to ask and was gifted with a pie in time to get to the meeting place at the requested time.
Dragon and rider popped out from between as Indivara headed for the water. Vydoriath gave a cheerful greeting to his fellow blue before touching down on the sand not too far away from where Venseth was. R’vi took a moment to admire his friend in her undergarments, smiling as he did so. He was still attracted to her but he had realized some time ago that they weren’t meant to hook up and to let go of wishful thinking and simply enjoy life as it’s given to him like he used to.
“Hey, Di!” R’vi called as he carefully made his way down to the sand, careful not to drop the pie he soon held up as proof he got the entire message and even retained it all. The pie was set down on Indivara’s collection of items and R’vi cast a look around him. Igen was great but Ista definitely had the better beaches and couldn’t fault his friend for wanting to come here instead of his turf.
A few minutes later and R’vi was out of his riding gear, left only in a pair of shorts. He was the sort not to wear underwear but had slipped on a pair of swimming trunks under his pants before leaving. He had no qualms with swimming nude but that didn’t mean other people felt the same way. Though, they should, given the body they’d be looking at.
Your mood has brightened considerably since this morning. I like it, Vydoriath always seemed to worry about his mood, which was appreciated, but R’vi wasn’t going to get into any serious conversations with his dragon while at the beach.
“Must be the sun,” he replied with a smile and took off running for the water and his friend.
