One of them rises.
Rhaedalyn frowned as she looked up from the shirt she was mending. Who is what? The screech that soon filled the peacefulness of the day sent a shiver through the young woman’s body and she understood then without needing specifics. One of the other gold dragons was taking to the sky. Given the tone Aradissicath had used and how they knew the older dragons’ schedules to some degree, she knew it was one of the younger dragons.
Panic set in as Aradissicath’s mood grew sourer by the second. Her sweet girl was currently anything but and if she were a feline, Rhaedalyn had no doubt she’d see the fur standing up while the gold hissed. As it was, Xyreith earned his tail almost being nipped at as Aradissicath snarled and tried to snap her jaw on the offending bronze’s appendage. How dare he chase one of those creatures! Xyreith wasn’t technically hers but in a way, he was. They were friends to some degree and he had won her maiden flight while he barely looked at the other golds in such a light. Who did he think he was chasing after one of the rude babies that had no place amongst civilized dragons?
Rhaedalyn frowned even more as the implications finally set in and she watched from across the table R’nya clean up his paperwork before his expression seemed to go blank as the flight lust took hold. “R’nya? Can’t you ground him?” The nod she got in response indicated the bronzerider hadn’t heard her at all. The look she gave him wasn’t exactly encouraging and probably would have been aligned more with disproval. Like their dragons, she didn’t have any sort of claim on R’nya outside of friendship and that was all this was. She was a concerned friend that knew R’nya would be upset with himself for losing control and potentially bedding some goldrider.
She was jarred out of her wandering thoughts by Kahleena as her friend reminded her that all the other gold dragons had to leave the area. It was already growing to be too close for comfort with the way Aradissicath was behaving and eyeing the rival gold that shot into the sky with her trail of suitors. With a squeak and a nod, Rhaedalyn dashed over to her dragon and mounted without a care for riding straps or even her gear. There wasn’t any time for such things! Now, where to go? They were too close to the lake now with the new Weyr location so that was out. Suddenly, the image of the ledge she had sworn to avoid since finding Z’ia skydiving off Aveleth came to mind. She had no idea if it was even still there given the landslide that struck but she ordered Aradissicath to fly that way all the same.
Aradissicath was less than pleased with everything going on, including the increasingly muddled thoughts of her rider. Rhaedalyn could have a wild imagination on a good day but the gold lust was starting to sink in and focus was a thing of the past. If for no other reason, Rhaedalyn’s clear mind that wasn’t being infected by Mizeath’s dirty lust was motivation enough to leave the area. She willingly went to the designated spot and sent out a forceful request to someone else that could help keep them company while the mess over the Weyr took place.
Aveleth. We go to the ledge clearing we once found you at. Take your rider and join us. The image of the location that had survived the devastation was passed on as well in case the blue couldn’t recall what she was talking about. As Rhaedalyn trembled slightly atop the dragon as she did her best to hang on for the journey. Rhaedalyn was not prepared for this. Bring a blanket as well. The sweet dear is a bit chilled from the flight.
“I guess we wait.” There really wasn’t anything else to do except speculate on who would win and what would happen after.

Z’ia was far from pleased; in part, this was from being drawn away from a pending gold flight, which meant more than his fair share of randy bronzeriders to take his pick of. In part, it was because the harsh demand from Aradissicath had his dear Aveleth trembling on the spot as he reached for Z’ia to both pass on the message, and seek reassurance. The young blue’s opinion of the gold tended to rise and fall much like the tides; he wanted to like her, but she so regularly frightened him that he instead held a distant, trembling wariness of her as he waited for her to snap at him once more. The fac that she had never been more than mentally sharp with him was the only reason Aveleth did not respond to her by flying into a full on panic attack.
For his part, Z’ia could still feel the tingles of gold induced lust curling through his blood and making the little hairs rise up on end over his arms, and down his back. He was more than a bit grumpy at being taken away from the fun that would have resulted when he picked a loser (or one picked him!) and his expression was sour as Aveleth ghosted on the breeze, angling gently for the location Aradissicath had indicated they were to meet her at. The pair had avoided the place, since being found in it, and Aveleth’s rapidly swirling eyes were an alarming array of discomfort and distress, as he located Aradissicath and began the process of landing.
As Aveleth landed gently, Z’ia cleared his own expression, putting aside the visual cues that he was pissed off with the woman, and especially her dragon, in exchange for his usual airs of playful abandon and good natured smile. Inwardly, he was seething, and as he slid down Aveleth’s side and bounced to the ground, the little blue tossed a fearul look towards Aradissicath before retreating carefully backwards. Within a couple of breaths, Aveleth had successfully wriggled under a low hanging tree, and hidden himself from view. What Z’ia made of this was anyone’s guess, for his face was clear and bright as ever as he half bounced, half skipped towards Rhaedalyn with a cheerful smile.
“Hello!” The cheerful greeting was called out with a happy wave, before Z’ia appeared to notice Rhaedalyn’s unhappiness, and her dragon’s grouchiness. Z’ia paused mid bounce, rocking forward and then backwards again on his feet, and pursed his lips thoughtfully. “Are you okay?” He tilted his head, curls dancing and blinked owlishly up at Rhaedalyn. “She should be fine out here, you know. Far enough away not to be affected.” He smiled reassuringly, and moved closer, though with less bounce now. Aveleth remained hidden in the tree branches, his only move being to keep the three green firelizards with him when they reappeared, rather than allowing them to ambush Z’ia and Rhaedalyn.
Unless stated otherwise, Aveleth never speaks to anyone but Z'ia

Rhaedalyn did her best not to gawk when Aveleth was seen coming towards them and blinked in disbelief when Z'ia dismounted and came bouncing up to her. He had come to see her? How did he know where she would be or that she really wanted to see him? I called for them, my dear. Who better to keep us comfort and won't betray us by chasing some hussy? Rhaedalyn ignored the anger that still radiated from her dragon and sent her gratitude for being so considerate instead.
"I'm fine now. A little shaken since I don't like riding without the straps, especially," Rhaedalyn leaned in to whisper though Aradissicath would always hear if she wanted to thanks to the bond, "since Dissi's landings are still a bit rough." Being so close to Z'ia brought multiple things to mind. The first was how easily everything else could be forgotten. The second was something she often noticed and always enjoyed; his scent. It was something she'd never be able to explain to another but it was just very Z'ia and it was wonderful. It was actually a bit of a turn on and Rhaedalyn found herself lifting a hand to brush lightly over one of Z'ia's cheeks and lightly run fingers down his chest.
Rhaedalyn glanced away, slightly embarrassed at her actions but also in an attempt not to do more. She wanted more, had for quite some time, but Z'ia was so honourable and never made a move that she might not want yet. It only made him all the more perfect in her eyes. Aradissicath bristled again at knowing the flight lust still lingered in her rider despite being away from the cause but it was for the man she loved and not some random man Rhaedalyn would regret later so nothing was said or done to intervene.
Instead the gold dragon focused on the blue that was trying to hide amongst the trees. You are far too bright and blue to find camouflage there, my friend. Thank you for bringing your rider. Rhaedalyn is calmer already and very happy. As if wanting to show their appreciation as well, two of Rhaedalyn's firelizards appeared by Aveleth. Whisper and Rumour chittered happily at him, for the most part ignoring the green flitters that didn't always get along with them. Muffin was nowhere to be seen but he was far more excitable than the other two and had stayed in the Weyr to play during the flight

The girl’s surprise at seeing him was not missed, but it did go without comment as Z’ia peered up at Rhaedalyn, head tilting slightly to one side and curls dancing around his shoulders. His eyebrows furrowed, then widened with amusement as Rhaedalyn whispered to him about her dragon. Z’ia nodded, lips curling slightly. A cheeky response was lingering on the tip of Z’ia’s tongue, but it was swallowed without seeing daylight as Rhaedalyn’s fingers touched his cheek and trailed down his chest. Z’ia blinked, dark green eyes searching the goldrider’s turned away face in silence.
Z’ia’s hand lifted, splayed fingers capturing Rhaedalyn’s where it lingered to lift it back up a little and hold it gently over his heart. Z’ia waited for the girl to look at him once more, before stepping forward slightly, bringing them closer together. He studied her face carefully, not unaware of the flightlust that still lingered in her, nor that in himself, but also aware that the girl would have enough sense about her to know what she was asking. It was the first time she’d made a blatant pass at him – something Z’ia had been waiting for with much irritation – and he wasn’t about to let it go without acting upon it. It was about time the idiot girl stopped prancing around him like a high-strung green.
The distance closed between them, Z’ia’s free hand tilted Rhaedalyn’s chin gently, drawing the girl in so the inches that separated their heights were made irrelevant. Carefully leading the kiss, Z’ia let his hand release her chin, and trace lightly up the side of her face, following her jawline, to weave his fingers gently in the short curls left behind after the landslide. Breaking the kiss with a somewhat bemused smile, Z’ia licked his lips, and puffed out a gentle sigh.
The energetic little bluerider did not speak (and was praying to Faranth between that Rhaedalyn would follow his lead and keep quiet) as he leaned back just a little, head tilted to one side looking for all the world like he couldn’t believe his good fortune. He brushed a thumb lightly over Rhaedalyn’s bottom lip, before leaning up to kiss her gently again. With one hand snaking around Rhaedalyn’s neck to play with her hair, the other rested gently at her waist; low, but not quite pushing past boundaries of good manners. He was still waiting to see if Rhaedalyn would invite him further, or not.
Aveleth’s wide eye peered out from between leafy branches as Aradissicath spoke to him, and he shrank back a bit, despite the kind words and the appearance of the firelizards. He shifted anxiously, gaze flickering from the gold dragon to the pair of humans, and back again. Z’ia’s emotions were almost strange; Aveleth could tell he was playing a game, but it was not his usual game, such as he played with the greenriders, and it confused the young dragon. He crept out of the tree carefully, as afraid of being scolded by Aradissicath as he was of interrupting the lip locked couple.
I’m glad, he whispered the words to Aradissicath, returning his gaze to their riders, and wondering if Aradissicath would still be pleased about him bringing Z’ia out, when Z’ia finished whatever game it was he was playing. His goals were lost in the recesses of his mind, and Aveleth had no idea what his end plan was. Only that his desire to have the man help the girl was going to backfire. Aveleth would have sulked, but the emotions charging from Z’ia were too pleasant to allow the mellow dragon any opportunity to wallow in self-pity. His eyes swirled soft purple-y hues, echoing his human’s lust and pleasure.
Unless stated otherwise, Aveleth never speaks to anyone but Z'ia

Rhaedalyn’s breath hitched after the first kiss and she nearly swooned against Z’ia after the second kiss that left his hand resting in far too gentlemanly of a location. Normally she loved how sweet and well-behaved he was despite his vast majority of life spent growing up in the Weyr culture and the influence of some of his friends. Everything was always taken at the appropriate pacing she was bred to believe was proper even when her own desires wanted more. Rhaedalyn knew they were both dragonriders now and her old life was exactly that but while she had adapted to everything else, it was nice to have one thing that fit in with her dreams and expectations of what her life should have been.
Now, however, Rhaedalyn wondered why they had waited so long when it was clear they were not only attracted to each other but in love. She hesitated only a moment before setting a hand on Z’ia’s that rested on her waist. Again there was a pause but then Rhaedalyn found her courage bolstered by her love for the bluerider and the flight lust to gently nudge his hand down lower. It was a silent invitation to take the lead and guide them wherever it was they would end up together. She didn’t know what to say and didn’t have much experience in such things but she trusted Z’ia completely. He wouldn’t do anything to harm her and she knew he’d never take advantage and toss her aside afterward.
Aradissicath watched the humans for a moment, wondering if they were okay to leave alone but despite Rhaedalyn’s random moments of doubt or hesitation, the girl seemed happy with everything so the gold turned back to the blue. She was still angry at Xyreith but as she moved to settle down beside Aveleth, Aradissicath knew it wasn’t done to get back at the bronze dragon. She was partial to the blue thanks to Rhaedalyn’s fondness of the man and dragon and Aveleth was hard not to have some level of affection for as well with his sweet demeanour. It was only when he cowered so easily that Aradissicath became a bit annoyed but it wasn’t anything to hold against the pretty dragon she laid down beside, resting her head on her front legs. Rumour and Whisper took up their favourite resting places on her as Aradissicath rumbled her pleasure over the current situation.
