She dithered in front of the bulletin boards.  A small piece of parchment was held in one hand, pin in the other hand, but R'ana was having a hard time fighting her desire to hide from the eyes of the weyr.  She shook her self mentally for that.  Most would forget about her after dealing with her for this.  Really she had nothing to worry about and Shanith had played her last ball to bits held together by sewing and will.

The ad was simple, just a notice that she would be willing to trade labor or smoked meats for scraps of leather and cloth.  The condition and color of the cloth didn't matter over much.  She had placed similar ads in the past.  She had dithered such in the past.

She felt Shanith's attention slip from her and stilled, then felt the spike of excitement.  Shanith?

There was silence, and R'ana stepped back, focused on her dragon.  She closed her eyes and caught a flash of sky as Shanith launched herself into the air.

She turned, stuck the paper onto the board with the pin in a flurry of motion and dashed from the dining hall, dreading finding out what what Shanith was up to this time.  So focused was she on preventing mayhem she missed the slight sense of a task well done from Shanith.

She saw a ball soar, a bright splash of color agaisnt a blue sky.  Shanith dove for it and R'ana called her dragon's name again.  Shanith caught it, and landed, joy at the midair catch radiating from her.  The green landed before she could be told to, careful not to stir up too much dust.  R'ana shook her head as she saw the dragon trot over to the game she had interrupted.  Hi!  I'm Shanith!  May I play?

R'ana jogged to the game and spoke quietly.  "I hope you don't mind, she's a bit playful."  She turned to the dragon to coax her into giving up the ball and added, "I'll get the ball back, sorry about the dragon spit."  And the teethmarks.  Oops...

Just looking for something light hearted here
HL Edit: there wasn't a date, so I picked a date. It is set 5 days after Krypth's latest flight. Mostly irrelevant to the goldriders, but not to Indi hehe

When the ball was nabbed by a dark Green there was a sharp shriek from the ground; both human and dragonic. Several little girls were shrieking in pleasure at seeing the Green grabbing the ball in mid air, whilst a very tiny and very unmistakable Green was making her own glee extraordinarily clear.

Well. Grith couldn't really do anything not extraordinarily.

Quickly! Throw it again! She squealed, stamping her feet excitedly on the ground. A little cloud of dust went up around her and she squealed again, excited by her own doings.

Par'a was sitting off to the side, watching the game and occasionally reminding her dragon that squashing the girls with her tail was not optimal. Sure, she was the second smallest dragon in the Weyr, though certainly not as fat as Larrikith, but her enthusiasm certainly made up for that. From her voice alone one would surely think her the largest Gold on the planet!

Spying R'ana jogging over to the game she waved the younger rider over. "She can't be as playful as Grith. You're welcome to let her try to out-play or out-excite her though." She commented with a grin. "Though I do believe your Green has given her a new idea. We may need some new balls soon..."

Grith turned to Par'a, her eyes bright and swirling rapidly. Oh! More balls! Yes! Great idea Pell! With that she turned her head skyward and projected across the whole Weyr.

RA! RA! Bring balls and come play! She sent a vivid image of her location out with her call, no doubt bombarding and disturbing many a peaceful afternoon. Satisfied, she turned back to the girls and Shanith, dancing on the spot as she waited for the ball to be thrown again.

Ra is Indivara, so you know! She's not so good with names :P

Indivara was actually being a good girl, for once, and was quietly minding her own business in her room in her mother’s hut as she did some homework the Harper that was teaching her rag-tag class had concocted. Following Krypth’s latest flight, Indivara was still waiting to see what kind of handle S’kef would have on the Candidates that wanted to Stand – if he would follow the rules D’ren had put into place, or if he would just let them all go wild. While Indivara appreciated the lack of women on the Sands (in her opinion, it boosted her chances!) the girl was not pleased when it was pointed out that she was a childless Candidate.

She’d bloody well stay that way, too, if she had any say in it. Children were not on Indivara’s list of ‘to do’ and she did not feel she should have to prove some bullshit claim the Weyr was demanding when she was born and bred in the Faranth forsaken South! Children were for idiot women who had big hips, boobs and an inclination towards tiny humans. Indivara had none of that, and was – “Fuck! Grith!”

Despite the fact that it would do nothing, Indivara slapped her hands over her ears and glared at the wall as if the boisterous green dragon were on the other side of it. Indivara was very pleased that she actually wasn’t. Fuck only knew how much her head would pound if the green were! Groaning, Indivara frowned as the image of Grith’s location slammed into her brain, and Indivara rubbed at the bridge of her nose for a moment before sighing. Fine, the work she was doing was boring as shit anyway! Standing up, Indivara kicked her chair back into place and then laughed when her younger brother appeared in the doorway, offering her a large ball.

“Thanks! Are you coming?” The little boy shook his head, and Indivara ruffled his hair as she left. He was only six, and usually the boy would have been into the game. Indivara would ask him about his lack of interest – oh. He was helping their mother oil her dragon. That said everything then. The woman waved as Indivara jogged out of the hut, her firelizards swirling above her head as the girl made her way easily to where Grith was waiting. Judging by the added arriving children of various ages, she wasn’t the only one that had decided playing ball with a dragon was far more entertaining than sitting around at home doing Harper chores.

“Sup, Grith!” Indivara called a greeting, the girl holding the ball above her head and waved it from side to side. “Look what I got!” Bursting into laughter, Indivara brought the ball down, dropping it in time to kick it as it fell, sending the ball shooting toward the dragon in a high arc. “Catch!” Sometimes, it was fun to play silly games. Indivara, grinning, waved cheerfully to her once-babysitter and ran with the group of children to glomp the green dragon intent on the ball Indivara had just kicked.

“Hello Shanith!” Indivara had a great head for dragons, knowing the entire Weyr’s population by sight (and voice, in the case of the more talkative or – as in Grith’s case – loud) and the girl bounced over to R’ana, taking the ball with a grin. “She can’t be worse with a ball than Grith!” If the girl had any qualms about dragon spit, there was no sign of it as she threw the ball to a younger kid, cackling when it hit the child behind them in the back of the head when the catch failed.

R'ana recognized the draconic shriek and shook her head, laughter touching her eyes for a moment.  Grith.  She loved the dragon's zest for living...But didn't love the fact that she wound up Shanith even further than usual.  Then again, it would do Shanith some good to try and outplay Grith...a tired Shanith was one that made less mischief.

Hi Grith!  Let's play!  More balls is fun, that's a really good idea!

The two's enthusiasm was infectious enough that R'ana giggled a bit as she was waved over.  She nodded and padded to Shanith first, seeing children come to play as well, including one she remembered from one of the times her green had flown recently.

What was the name?  Attitude bigger than her body, mauled at...Indivara.  Shanith placed her R'ana did, and wriggled, her grip tight on the ball.  Hi Indivara!  Isn't this fun!  We have alot of people to play with now!

R'ana smile was genuine as she spoke.  "Indivara."  She said, "No, I don't think she is.  Just has a hard time remembering the difference between her own balls and other people's."  Shanith only needed a mental nudge to surrender the ball peacefully, and R'ana relaxed once Indivara had it.  She winced as the ball bounced off a kid's head, then shrugged when the child seemed to shrug it off and picked up the ball.

Since Indivara had gotten Grith's attention with her kicked ball, the child tossed the ball to Shanith.  The dragon understood that this was a game and gently batted the ball into play with a wing, tossing it to the one who had taken it from her, then pouncing on another smaller ball that someone had forgotten.

She rolled it around a moment, then when Grith let go of the ball tossed to her, cried out Grith!  Catch!  The ball was slapped her way with a deft tail motion, gaining just enough air to soar over the heads of the children.  Shanith tossed the next ball headed her way to more of the children, bugling her joy.  She loved to play!  She loved kids!  She loved balls!  This was funfunfun!

R'ana went to sit on the sidelines saying to P'ara, "I make some things for Shanith.  If I get enough scraps, I can give you a ball for Grith.  It's wonderful to see them playing.  Good exercise too!"

Par'a simply laughed as Grith shrieked to the entire Weyr, perhaps due to pleasure at others experiencing what she felt... every... single... day. She watched as the two Greens began to accommodate extra children and balls into their game. A grin lit up her face at Shanith's reluctance to drop the ball then quickly return to her joyous self.

Grith squealed excitedly as more children came flocking to play with them, jumping on the spot repeatedly. Hearing Indivara's voice she wheeled around, knocking two weyrbrats head over heels as she did. Grith... Par'a growled mentally, causing the tiny Green to look around herself wildly and knock a tiny boy over. Oh! OH! Sorry, sorry! Oh I'm sorry! She cried, fanning her wings straight up as much as she could and arching her back. The children giggled with glee and rushed underneath her, trying to see how many could get beneath her before she lowered herself again. She watched them with bright pink eyes for a moment then dropped her body down, earning a shriek of laughter from the two girls she had knocked to either side of her.

The ball Indivara had kicked went soaring back over Grith in the opposite direction, catching her eye with the flash of colour and movement. Slightly more mindful of the children milling about she bounded after it, flicking her snout underneath it as it bounced and sending it over her back. Skidding to a halt she spun, just in time to see Shanith whacking another ball towards her. She reached her neck up, deftly catching the ball in her mouth. Tossing it up above her she watched it, bouncing it on her snout a few times before aiming it off towards some of the children. Catch!

"I've never thought to actually give Grith a ball before..." Par'a mused. "If you have enough spare that would be a great! Then I don't have to borrow and return all the childrens' ones. Or replace them." Her eyes followed the myriad of balls that were now being thrown through the air, trying to identify the one she had acquired earlier that day.

"How long does she take to tire out?" She asked, watching the larger Green now that she'd found the ball.

Congratulations, you found a clue!

Clue 12:
You notice some bags of garbage sitting idly beside the edge of the square, waiting to be disposed of. A piece of paper with the Weyr’s seal can be seen peeling out the top!

If you are curious enough (and brave enough) to get close, you will see that it’s a sheet of crumpled paperwork. It seems to be the only piece of discarded paperwork in the garbage bag, but it’s sitting right on the top. Tyrrisath is sleeping close by, so if you’re going to take it, you better take it quick!

If you take it, you look it over (once a safe distance away!) to see what you’ve found. It’s a request form filled out by Wingleader R’nya and addressed to D’ren, asking that D’ren replace R’nya’s current wingsecond and promote S’kef to his place.

There are rumors of bad blood between S’kef and T’shiro, but if the rumors are true, it’s never come out in the open. No one has bothered to hide this form, though. It appears it was casually thrown away without a second thought.

Ryvian was bored thanks to Nyvian still playing the nicer and more dedicated twin as he continued to help someone with some chore or another. No one had come by the hut yet that day either which wasn’t entirely odd since the day was still young and his younger friends were probably still in a lesson or doing homework while his older friends were likely tending to their dragons. He supposed that was fine as well but didn’t they know he was bored and didn’t have anything to do or anyone to see? Well, he’d just have to change that!

Strolling between the huts with Tryst flying in lazy circles over his head, Ryvian had no real destination in mind as he simply went looking for familiar face that was fun to be around. He stumbled briefly when Grith’s loud voice aimed at ‘Ra’ hit him and Tryst squealed at the interruption of their peaceful meandering as if he could make the noise stop or attack it. When Grith did fall silent, Tryst gave a creel of victory and landed on Ryvian’s shoulder, earning a quick petting as the young man perked up. Grith was sometimes unpredictable in her playing but she was entertaining all the same and he knew Indivara was the girl that had just been contacted, which was even better!

Knowing his friend wouldn’t turn down a chance to play with Grith – mostly because the little green would make a larger fuss until she got what she wanted – Ryvian made his way through the rows of huts and finally out to the Square where two green dragons were playing with a bunch of kids and Indivara was joining them. He was about to call out a greeting to everyone when the idea to come up behind Indivara seemed far more delightful. Tryst was shushed so he wouldn’t ruin the fun though Ryvian barely held back a cackle of laughter when Indivara beamed a kid in the head with one of the balls.

Coming up behind the younger weyrbrat, Ryvian grabbed her by the upper arms and angled around a bit to the side to show who had just dared to grab her and grinned. “Hey!” His eyes sparkled with mischief and Ryvian let go of Indivara so he’d have enough space and time to dodge any flying fists that were likely to come his way if he startled her enough.

Laughing, a quick glance and a greeting were sent to the greenriders as well before he wisely turned his attention fully back to his spitfire of a friend. “Aren’t you too old to be playing ball, Di?”

Indivara’s brain hurt, but it hurt in that good way that was indicative of loud and hyperactive dragons treating it like a playground, and not in that awful way that was the result of putting up with stupid people and their idiot opinions. Indivara would rather spend her time being mentally bashed by Grith’s incredibly loud voice than she would putting up with the fools that ran around the Weyr voicing their idiot opinions on things that they had no right to voice an opinion on, and if they did, they were voicing the wrong one. Some people just didn’t get it.

Indivara laughed as a ball came her way, the girl catching it to her chest as Grith sent several children sprawling in every direction and Indivara laughed more, watching with delight as the children scattered from around the green, while other’s attacked the beast and climbed on her or tugged her tail. Children! Still giggling Indivara clutch her ball tight, but sent another one careening over head with a solid kick, bouncing it off Grith’s rump and hitting another child – a result that had Indivara laughing wickedly before she yelped in surprise.

“Ryv!” Indivara hissed, her elbow flying back with the intent to collect the older ‘brat in the ribs, but the bastard moved on her and Indivara spun around, throwing the ball in her hands at his head with as much power as she could put into it. “Fuck you!” She snapped, but laughter was still wrapped up in her voice, and brilliant blue eyes sparkled with her good mood, scarred features twisted into a cheerful and mischievous grin.

“Not as old as you,” she teased, long hair falling in every direction as the girl ducked to pick up a ball that had just rolled to a stop at her feet, raising an eyebrow at her friend as she brushed it all out of her face. Appearing from between, Blood Sucker gave a cheerful chrip of greeting before shrieking a warning as another ball came shooting through, skimming just barely over Indivara’s head as the girl ducked, still clinging to the one she’d picked up moments before.

Grith!” Whether the green dragon was actually to blame, Indivara was launching it at her as she spun around, drop-kicking the ball forcefully at the little dragon, and watching it bounce off her shoulder. “C’mon!” Grabbing Ryvian by the wrist, Indivara dragged him along with her until he gave in and joined her willingly, the girl dropping her grip to brag another ball and kick it over the top of the two dragons with a laugh.

“Catch, Shanith!”

The joy of her dragon pounded and thumped against her consciousness with all the force and glee of a small child pounding a drum.

R'ana reached for her flask, the barks she had added to the tea enough to dull the headache she knew would be form after this.

Thankfully, the children were used to being knocked around by an over excited dragon.  Shanith took a bit of care for the children, R'ana's caution tempering her sheer joy ever so slightly.

It meant she wouldn't actually trample any children, her eyes whirling a fast, excited pink.  She bugled happily, drawing more curious eyes and joiners into the game.

She watched her dragon trying to imitate Grith's trick of bouncing the ball on her nose, hit herself in eye and squeal a bit at the shock.  She shook it off instantly, nosing the fallen ball into the air and at someone.

R'ana pulled herself back to the conversation with Par'a.  She spoke her answer lightly.  "I should, I tend to make extras.  Shanith's generous and absentminded, so she's always destroying, giving away or simply mislaying her balls."  She dodged an out of control ball, and fell over.

She scrambled back up in an undignified heap of limbs, blushing.  "About two hours, maybe a little less.  I'll pull her earlier if I can."  She looked around her for the ball, hoping it hadn't hit Par'a.

As she did, she saw a bit of paperwork with the weyr's seal on it.  Head tilted, she debated going to grab it.

She was distracted by a bit of motion, seeing someone slipping into the crowd.  She stilled, not placing the person immediately, then realizing it was one of those twins...the Vians.

He grabbed Indivara and danced back,  greeting her and Par'a.  She waved back, caught a ball that Shanith tossed to her and tossed it to him.  "Catch!"

Shanith reared up then to catch a ball, wings flaring as she left the ground a moment.  She hovered a bare second and landed.  She used a wing to toss it to a weyrbrat, then nabbed another ball, tossing it at Grith.

Shanith let out happy, loud but happy, noises, R'ana tossing her head back to laugh with her dragon's joy.  She let go then, a grin playing around her lips, Shanith whirling in a circle and her tail swatting a ball Indivara and Ryvian's way.

If noone picks up the clue, R'ana will my next post

Par'a withheld a smirk as she saw Ryvian approaching, his gaze clearly locked on Indivara. She wasn't sure which twin he was despite having played a large part in raising the boy, but was quickly informed at Indivara's yelping. She eyed Tryst somewhat suspiciously but was quickly distracted by a wayward ball and a shriek from Grith. When Ryvian said hello she waved, shooting him a wide smile. It was good for Grith to play with some of the older children who could actually take a whack or two from the dragon without coming to injury. Not to mention, they easily outsmarted her.

Grith was busy tossing and bouncing balls in every which way and didn't notice Ryvian's approach. Spinning she spotted him just as Indivara yelped, Grith shrieking with joy. Vee! She called, throwing a ball up in the air and headbutting it towards him. Her aim was less than okay, with it hurtling straight towards Indivara instead. Pink eyes wide she turned away before the ball could hit her, nosing another one along the ground. She ignored the girl's shout, though the ball hitting her shoulder did get her attention.

I didn't do it, Ra! Don't be a meany! She squealed indignantly, even though she was lying through her teeth. Tossing her nose in the air she turned and trotted away from Indivara, making it clear she was 'snubbing' the girl. A very young girl ran in front of Grith, her tiny arms reaching as high as they could as she made grabby hands and demanded "Up!". Grith halted, snuffling the little girl for a few moments before hooking her snout underneath her and holding her head as high as she could. The little girl shrieked and laughed, earning an eyeroll and a stern mental warning from Par'a not to hurt her. Grith pouted a little but did as she was told, gently placing the child on the ground.

"Mm, Grith is the same. Well, less generous more hopelessly forgetful. If you distract her enough you could probably steal the wings off her back." Par'a laughed. Shanith and Grith were similar, though Grith was quite obviously the more boisterous of the pair. She stored quite a bit of energy in her little musclebound form!

Unlike R'ana, Par'a had seen the incoming ball and leaned to the side to avoid it. She couldn't help but laugh at the tangle of limbs the fellow Greenrider had gotten herself into, Grith's enthusiasm and joy was effecting her quite strongly today. "Are you alright?" She asked between giggles. "Oh, two hours?" Par'a gave a sigh. "I only wish Grith took two hours to tire out. How easy life would be! I hope Shanith doesn't ever learn from Grith."

Grith saw the ball coming her way from Shanith and turned slightly before bouncing her back legs, hitting the ball with her rump and sending it flying towards Ryvian and Indivara. Leaping aloft she rose a few winglengths before watching the scene from above. Bugling, she swooped down to catch a ball between her balls, dropping it down on another area and repeating the maneuver twice more before landing. As she landed she gave another flying ball a solid thump with her tail, sending it out of the group and into some piles of trash.

"Grith!" Par'a exclaimed. "Watch it would you!" She frowned and shook her head at the tiny Green, who crooned an apology before diving back into the fray again. "Come on, before it blows all over the Weyr." Par'a gestured for R'ana to follow her as she jogged over to the collection of garbage now fluttering in the faint breeze.

"Who leaves bags of garbage lying about in the middle of the gather square anyway?" Par'a said, shaking her head in disapproval. Picking up a few pieces she noticed the Weyr's seal on one of the papers. Why they bothered to have one she'd never really understood, but it piqued her interest. She didn't look at it further, instead she crumpled it and pressed it into R'ana's palm.

"Take this." Her mirthful eyes stared at R'ana's, hoping she understood not to make a big deal of it, yet anyway. If there was one thing Par'a was good at, it was gossip. But she knew that you kept away from prying ears and eyes, particularly dragon eyes.

Tidying the rest of the garbage up she tied the top of the bags closed so another ball wouldn't cause a repeat. Gently she linked arms with R'ana and guided her to the other side of the games, away from Tyrrisath's sleeping form.

"Open it!" She whispered excitedly now that she deemed the coast clear.

I figure Grith calls both twins Vee because like hell she can tell them apart. XD

“Hey, Grith!” Ryvian laughed as he tried to dodge the ball that Indivara was winding up for tossing at him but only managed to save his head as his shoulder took the hit instead. He winced at the connection and was quickly reminded about the strength the petite girl possessed. He’d do well to remember that along with her ability to strike fast with a punch or a kick to the junk! There was no denying her verbal attack either as even though he was several turns older than Indivara, Ryvian was still just as playful as her. He gave the obligatory protest as she grabbed a wrist and dragged him along before willingly following after several steps. No point in fighting the prospect of some fun!

Unfortunately while he caught the ball R’ana tossed his way – to which he gave her a smile and a wink – Ryvian missed the next one that had the force of a playful dragon behind it and ended up taking a ball to the head. He yelped and stumbled but kept his balance which he was proud of. The ball he had managed to catch was tossed back at a group of giggling kids so he could rub at the spot that had been introduced to the round object of doom. “That’ll teach me to take my eye off the – son of a wher!”

Ryvian suddenly found himself on the ground and clutching both sides of his head. He had visually missed Grith whacking the ball at him but his skull certainly hadn’t missed it! “I’m not the only one with a twin right now,” he told the two Indivaras before him. He shook his head hoping to clear his vision, rubbed at both locations, and got back to his feet. He wasn’t mad at any of his attackers and the laugh and shake of his head showed that clearly. “Wanna play Healer to all my boo-boos later?” He asked on a low whisper meant just for the young woman he leaned in close to before once more dancing away from Indivara with a grin.

Quite the contrary to being upset by Grith’s indignant and rather high pitched screech of objection, Indivara laughed delightedly, before kicking another ball at the green dragon’s rump when she strut away from her, nose in the air like a gold. “Snot!” Indivara yelled back at her, doing her best to also project the thought as loud as she could into Grith’s brain, like the creature seemed to so enjoy doing to her.

Delighted blue eyes watched another ball bounce off the green dragon and come careening in her direction, the girl clearly poised to pounce on the item, when it flew just past her and she heard the solid thwack of leather on flesh. An abrupt laughter tore from her lips as Indivara spun around, blue eyes sparkling with delighted amusement as she laughed gleefully at Ryvian, giggling manically.  Her amusement was only beginning to diminish as the boy complained, before Indivara startled, and then burst into a whole new wave of laughter when he was suddenly tumbling over like a tree in one of their summer storms.

Indivara stepped closer as Ryvian climbed to his feet, small hands tugging the other’s out of his face so she could examine the areas where the balls had hit him, frowning thoughtfully as she checked the damage, before freezing dangerously when Ryvian made his comment. Indivara leaned up on her toes, getting right into his space so their noses were almost touching. “You wish,” she whispered back, giving him a solid shove the same moment Ryvian skipped backwards, the girl’s eyes sparkling with satisfaction as she tossed her head, hair flowing down her back.

Then there was the crack of leather on bone, and Indivara face planted at Ryvian’s feet with a grunt, the back of her head throbbing from the blow of the ball.

I love karma LOL

R'ana pulled a mock pout when Par'a laughed.  She lifted nose into the air and hmphed, her eyes showing wicked laughter.  "I see how you are, laughing at poor clumsy little old..."  She dissolved into giggles then and shook her head.  "Fine, nothing hurt but my pride and that gets dinged all the time."

R'ana shook her head.  "She probably will learn.  Regards Grith as a smallish big sister."  She shook her head at that.  Her dragon called everyone friend, even the dragons R'ana would really rather she wouldn't, like Tyrrisath.

She stood to gather the trash with Par'a, one eye on the sleeping Tyrrisath.  Thank god the ball hadn't hit him!  R'ana gathered pieces quietly, curious about the piece handed to her directly.  It was clean so she tucked it into a pocket, hiding the motion by picking up more trash.

She nodded a bit, and finished helping gather the trash, then followed Par'a back,w alking easily witht he woman, alert for misguided balls as both dragons got more and more into the game.

She settled close to  her, shielding her from view as she unfolded the note, read it and blinked.  She closed her eyes, placing both men and hmming a bit.  Odd...

"I heard of bad blood between those two, but am surprised R'nya would want to promote S'kef..."  She spoke softly, To Par'a only.  "But....he did seem to work well in R'nya's wing.  I kinda watched some of the practices...I struggled in my own wing and wanted to see if I could learn from others and help myself a bit."

Ryvian and shortly after that, Indivara fell.  Shanith shifted a bit to shield them from incoming balls a moment since she was closes dragon.  Vian, Indivara, are you okay?  I didn't mean to hit you Indivara!   Her eyes whirled in a distressed fashion, but if reassured they were okay, she would move aside, rejoining the play with a happy bugle her eyes turning pink once more.

He was a horrible man but he couldn’t help it; he laughed at Indivara getting hit by a ball. Ryvian didn’t even try to stifle the loud bark of amusement as he stared down at her by his feet even though laughing seemed to make his head pound a bit due to a lightly forming headache. He’d live as it wasn’t anything serious just like he knew Indivara wouldn’t be seriously hurt either. Her ego might be and Ryvian was sure he was playing with fire by still snickering at her but that was the way of their friendship. Since Nyvian and him had crossed paths with the young girl early on, they teased each other as often as they defended each other. It was a fun mix up. “No worries, Shanith! We’re both fine. Indivara has a hard head,” he spoke cheerfully to the green dragon and smiled when she turned back to join the game.

Ryvian crouched down and extended his hand to Indivara with an attempt at a concerned expression in place. “May I help you up, my lady?” His did his best impersonation of R’nd by mimicking his manner of speech and the tones of his voice though it was hard to keep it up as Ryvian wanted nothing more than to grin and laugh again. The bluerider was a good guy but that was why he was fun to pick on! It was all innocent teasing, as everything was with Ryvian and while R’nd would probably pout at first, he’d still see the humour in the moment as well.

"A big sister... That is not a role I think Grith should ever be in." Par'a said with a laugh. "It might go to her head... If she remembers being told about it." She glanced over to the boisterous Greens, shaking her head as several balls went pelting wildly in every direction including Indivara's head. She watched for a moment, just long enough to ascertain that the small girl was alright, or at the very least being looked after. Par'a probably should have gone over to help, but not only would that put her within the dangerous ball-assailing zone, it would keep her from her precious gossip! Sometimes, her priorities were as messed up as her dragon's.

Once R'ana had finished reading the letter she took it to read for herself, her face expressionless as she did. "Hm." She crumpled the paper up and shoved it into her tunic, it could be disposed of later. "I heard T'shiro was an entirely different person as Wingsecond. All over the place, you know?" She tutted to herself. "I don't think anyone ever found out why D'ren demoted S'kef. Maybe R'nya didn't know and just liked his work ethic?" Par'a rolled her eyes. S'kef's work ethic was pretty foul in her opinion, but who knew what went on amongst the Bronze and Brownriders when it came to such politics? Par'a tended to ignore them, not only was the gossip tedious and boring but a Greenrider sticking their nose into their business never ended well. Especially a female Greenrider. "I don't like any of them. Idiot men with brains in their cocks." She snorted.

Were Grith a sensitive dragon she would have heard Indivara's mental insult, but as it were she simply continued to trot away. It was probably best for the world at large that she wasn't in the very least sensitive. Sending a dragon like that on Search? She'd return empty-pawed and with angry holders on her tail, no doubt.

Grith let out a mirthful bugle as she saw the balls hitting both Ryvian and Indivara in succession. Catch the balls with your hands! Not your heads! She announced, whacking two balls away with her wings. She bounced about, buffeting the weyrbrats with air as she beat her wings and trilling as they giggled and squealed. Shanith! She called, sending a ball and an entourage of squealing children chasing after it her way. With the immediate space around her cleared she dropped to the ground and rolled onto her back, much to the glee of the children who noticed. Within seconds she was crawling with little children, each trying to get to the top of her chest and up her arms to be the highest. Along with that she waved her tail back and forth along the ground, a game the children instantly recognised. Her tail, now a snake, had to be jumped over, or else they would be eaten! Come on dozybrains! She demanded impatiently of Ryvian and Indivara. How dare they stop playing for five seconds!

Indivara groaned, shifting enough to slap her hands over the back of her head and her arms to block her ears as she buried her face in the summer grass with a scowl. Her head was pounding, and all she could hear was the sound of Shanith, followed hotly by Grith’s exuberant voice. Why, oh why, were these greens so determined to rattle around in her brain?! “Gofuckyourself,” Indivara muttered into the ground as Ryvian ushered the dragons off. The girl grimaced into the dirt, and slowly pulled herself up onto her hands and knees, flopping backwards to kneel in an inelegant pile as her fingers played over the back of her head with a frown.

“Fucking hate dragons.” Indivara grumbled, taking Ryvian’s hand without comment and allowing him to haul her to her feet. It was a comment often slung around by the girl, usually at times following Hatchings or – such as presently – when one of them had done some type of damage to her small and apparently target painted body. Indivara hoped dearly her own dragon wouldn’t thirst for her blood like every other cunt in the Weyr seemed to! Taking her hand back from Ryvian, Indivara pat him condescendingly on the chest once before brushing both hands through her hair, removing some of the dirt and grass that had taken up habitat there, and shook her head. There was a headache blooming, but nothing life threatening; she’d been punched harder by her friends. Unlike being hit in the head with a ball, however, Indivara usually saw the punch coming.

Turning to see where the dragons were, Indivara gave a soft bark of laughter at the sight of Grith covered in children like ants on a piece of fruit. Blue eyes sparkled with amusement as she picked up one of the forgotten balls that had come to a halt near the pair, and tossed it lightly into the air, catching it with a sly, mischievous smirk given sideways to Ryvian. “Bet you can’t knock one of them off.” With a positively evil smirk, Indivara pelted a ball at one of the older children (one she knew wouldn’t bawl like a baby) and watched the child topple off the dragon’s stomach and land on the ground with a shout of surprise. A smug, challenging look was given to Ryvian. A lot of the kids were too young to be any fun, but a handful of them were old enough to pick up on the game – a given from the way several were now dancing mockingly on Grith’s stomach and daring the elder Weyrbrats to knock them off. Most of the little ones fled to play the game of jumping over Grith’s tail.

She grinned at Par'a's words.  "That is the good thing about riding green.  Short attention span and short memory.  Bites you in the ass alot of the time, but...I'm really glad that Shanith forgets having her feelings hurt as quickly as she does."  R'ana didn't and anyone who mucked with Shanith found out they got an angry rider who forgot to give a damn about anything but her dragon.  Thankfully most slights to Shanith were accidental.

Shanith's curiousity about Indivara's insule and the fact that for an instnat she had treated it as a command has R'ana diverting her mind to the game again and the green was distracted enough to leave Indivara alone after a concerned nuzzle and croon an apology.

She didn't know much about T'shiro, other than he was high up in the weyr's hierarchy and seemed nice enough, though he did disapprove of Shanith's antics.  She listened quietly, teasing Par'a a bit.

"I'm startled you didn't find out, lord knows if anything happens, you know about it first..."  She hmmed a bit, thinking a bit, though Par'a's comment drew a snort of laughter.

"That's the problem with men.  They only want sex, or power."  Remembering a time when she had thought otherwise, her mood darkened for a bare instant.  No, leave the past in the past.

She saw Grith lay down, sending the children Shanith's way first.  Shanith saw the new game and bugled with joy, laying down herself on her stomach and wriggling as small hands used the dragon's riding straps to cling to as they climbed aboard.

Shanith!  NO FLYING!  The dragon, who had been considering taking off, instead rumbled and stayed laying down.  Then she got a new idea, turning her head and licking a leg.  The child squaled and jerked back and Shanith chased him with a long draconic tongue, licking any part of any child she could reach, those who didn't want to be licked fleeing to Grith!

Those that did stay got ideas though and launched an ambush on Indivara and Ryvian from behind, tossing balls at them and taking shelter behind Shanith's wings!  Shanith got that new game and rumbled happily, helping by shifting her wings to serve as shield and to occasionally whack balls back at the the pair with nose wings and tail, though trying to be more gentle for now.

Ryvian pulled a R’nya by arching a brow in response to Indivara’s bet and he watched her expertly toss the ball at a brat. Her aim was spot on and the child went toppling down which was entertaining enough to get him to laugh. “Not bad. But I have a feeling that not only can I knock one off, I can knock off more than you.” He wasn’t really one to get into serious betting like some of the dragonriders they hung out with but if it was all in the name of fun, like now, Ryvian was all for it. There wasn’t any harm in something so playful – unless you were one of the kids that were now seen as moving targets anyway.

Ryvian scooped up a ball that came rolling back to him and tossed it back and forth between his hands as he eyed up the children, trying to pick the best target. No way was he going to pick one of the clever brats that would dodge in time! With his target sighted, Ryvian wound up and let the ball fly, catching the child on the shoulder with enough force to send him staggering. For a moment Ryvian didn’t think he would fall over but finally the boy went sliding down Grith’s side with a shout. Smug, Ryvian turned back to Indivara.

With arms crossing his chest to stand in a confident pose, Ryvian opened his mouth to offer his friend the next toss when a ball came sailing towards them and hit his shoulder, much like he had done to a brat. Glancing back at the dragons and children, the older weyrbrat spotted the boy he had hit copying the smug stance he had held a moment before, and then he waved. “He fought back!” Ryvian stated the obvious, clearly shocked by the turn of the events before the real barrage began with kids hiding behind Shanith started throwing balls at them.

“Playtime’s over for us, I think!” Ryvian managed with a laugh as he dodged one back and was hit in the knee by another. They may have been older but they were clearly outnumbered and they didn’t have a dragon to hide behind so there wasn’t any shame in calling for a retreat. Ryvian grabbed Indivara’s hand, not caring if the girl would protest or punch his arm later for doing it and gave her a tug before leading them away from the children and out of the Square, still laughing the entire time.
