RE: Territory Descriptions - SunsetWay - 18.Feb.23

Submission: Hidden View Hold
Board: Fort

Description:
Located to the west of Fort Weyr, Hidden View Hold is exactly that. It lies along the mountain range in the valley that separates it from the range the Weyr is a part of. It is most easily reached by dragon or the river that flows through the valley and out to the Western Sea. Because of this, Peyton Hold to the south along the river, is one of their biggest trading locations aside from the Masterweaver Hall which is happy to take their wool as Hidden Valley specializes in breeding sheep along with a few other livestock.

The Hold also has a tragic past that most are no longer aware of. It used to be called Retallek Hold until a harsh winter late in the Second Pass wiped out the population. It was eventually resettled and renamed, though trouble still seems to follow the Lords of the Hold--most recently, the Lord Holder was removed by Lord Fort and the Hold was gifted to a young and untested Lord.

Submission: Misty Hold
Board: High Reaches

Description:
A minor Hold beholden to Tillek Hold and located to the east of it, Misty Hold is nestled into an alcove of the mountain range along the Western Sea. Due to its isolated position, Misty doesn't have much to offer in the ways of trade and export, relying more on fishing to further support Tillek and the Fishercraft Hall. However, in recent years, they have gained a reputation as a good place to foster sons at and have proven to be strong in social and political environments, making Misty Hold a worthy ally.

Submission: Ice Ridge Hold
Board: Benden

Description:
Located to the east of Benden Hold and along the Benden Range, Ice Ridge Hold faces out into large open plains with a river that leads from the mountain out to the Eastern Sea. It is known more for their breed of work horses but they also have a successful apple orchard. The current Lord and Lady also have strong ties to the Weyrs and are vocal supporters that have hosted yearly winter festivities for dragonriders since their return.

RE: Territory Descriptions - SunsetWay - 09.Apr.23

Submission: High Reaches Hold
Board: High Reaches Hold

Description:
Due to its northwestern and isolated location on a peninsula, High Reaches Hold is windy and often cold. Because of this, the Hold itself is nestled deep into the mountain, with not as many windows as other Holds on display overlooking the ocean. It only has a few small cotholds in the immediate area that lend to its isolation, though they do have their own weaver Hall that is highly skilled and use llama hair to create soft and warm cloth. Knitting is also a popular practical skill with gloves, sweaters, and leggings for under leathers being top items. Their other main industry is shipbuilding, second only to Tillek Hold.

Llamas also serve as their pack animal of choice due to the climate and terrain. Fortified/mulled wines and fruit brandies are popular in the region to help against the long and cold season, which a portion of their vast importation of spices goes to--the rest going to preserving meat and fish.

Leadership:
Lord: Jaetyn
Lady: Domilla
Heir: Jadoan

Submission: Nabol Hold
Board: High Reaches Hold

Description:
Nabol has rich grasslands, on which ovines and domestic wherries are raised. Nabol also has a lucrative expanse of woodland filled with popular and valuable soft woods popular for furniture-making as well as soil perfect for lavender fields in one area and growing root vegetables and greens in another. Their land can also host grapevines though apple trees for cider is more preferred. It is because of all of this that Nabol has a reputation for greed as they do not part with their items easily or cheap.

They don't often host Gathers due to this, though they do have a beautiful area for it in a meadow with mountain water flowing through. The Hold itself shares that flow of water with a large courtyard paved with flagstones that even hosts a kitchen with an entry to the Great Hall. It is carved into a mountain and still maintains a low overhang that used to be for sheltering animals during Threadfall but is now simply an entryway.

Lady: Haleah
Heir: Jaleahridan

Submission: Tillek Hold
Board: High Reaches Hold

Description:
Located on the most western peninsula, Tillek is not only known for its dry red wine and fishing endeavours. They are also the best at shipbuilding, which they get the wood from their expnasive conifer forest in the warm months. During the cold months, they preassemble aged wood to be shipped off to the shipwrights when the weather breaks. Knitting is just as important and done by the fishermen in the cold months and storms as they work on hardy mittens that fetch a good price at Gathers and their uniquely stitched fishing nets.

Leadership:
Lord: Barenkel
Lady: Tamzarra
Heir: Batenkel

Submission: Ista Hold
Board: Ista Hold

Description:
Ista Hold is in a tropical region that never goes below 55F/13C during the day, though it is typically very hot. Because of the heat, many sleep on hammocks and dress in thin to little clothing at all. Its major exports are fish, gems and gem dust, herbs, and their most popular export of citrus fruits as it can't grow in most northern regions. Healers will also often travel to the region to harvest needlethorn.

The largest draw to Ista comes at Turnover where they host a large outdoors Gather thanks to their still hot climate. Guests and Harpers come from all regions for what is a celebration that lasts for several days straight through the nights.

RE: Territory Descriptions - SunsetWay - 16.Apr.23

Submission: Igen Hold
Board: Igen

Description:
Igen Hold is located on the eastern edge of the great desert where it overlooks a rock high above the wide yet shallow and muddy Igen River. It is due to this terrain that rice is one of their largest exports with ovines, horses, tropical fruits, and a few types of gems close behind as they are also a major trading hub. Population in the region is sparse and mostly found along the coastline or to the northwest of the Hold in the grassy plains with no cotholds directly near the main Hold due to the river flooding regularly.

Due to the dry heat, burnoose robes and broad-brimmed hats are popular, with some holders adding veils to block the sun and dust. Like Ista, hammocks are popular and furs are not needed. There are also deep caverns under the Hold that are filled with ice and snow regularly once more by dragons to help keep food from spoiling and to create frozen treats like sorbet and ice cream. Gathers at the Hold are slow during the day but pick up at night when it is cooler and enjoyment can be had.

Leadership:
Lord: Habraxel
Lady: Kessenica
Heir: Firaxel

Submission: Keroon Hold
Board: Igen

Description:
The Hold is located in a mountainous outcropping on the southeastern tip of the region. The land is grassy plains with only a smattering of trees which makes it perfect for raising large herds. They specialise in horses, bovine, porcine, and to a lesser extent, ovine.

It's most famous landmark is the Red Butte, an igneous and ridged dome of massive size. Dragonriders took to using it to help weyrlings learn how to travel between.

Leadership:
Lord: Raidan
Lady: Melisadae
Heir: Unnamed b.691
