743.08.04 | Introductions - I'vens - 05.Aug.22

Sleep had not been great. Sherekhath had done his best to try and help, pacing around his bed and promising to keep watch. But every time he did manage to drift off despite knowing how many other people were shoved into the same room as him, someone would end up waking up for one reason or another, or snore, or toss in their bed, or a dragonet would do something and he'd startle awake and have to wait for his heart to settle back down before he could try and start all over again. Maybe he'd get used to never really sleeping again. He somehow doubted he'd get used to it. Really so long as Sherekhath got enough sleep it would probably be fine. While I'vens could get loopy and silly when running on empty, the bronze seemed to have a much grumpier sleepy demeanor.

And at least he wasn't going crazy like that Harper. I'vens still wasn't sure if it was because L'ri was old, or just overly dramatic and already given to flights of near madness befitting someone creative. It was sometime in the morning he supposed, the assistants were handing whichever weyrlings were awake buckets of food and oil and water as needed, but otherwise it seemed that they were fine to just rest with no real stressful lessons yet. Not that getting used to this and being exhausted wasn't stressful enough. He wanted to try and go back to sleep but a quick glance around showed that the pretty goldrider was awake and I'vens decided that maybe being awake was fine.

He stretched and stood up before casually heading her way, Sherekhath walking along at his side curiously. Why are we going? "Just going to introduce ourselves Sher," he said softly to the bronze as he tried to remember the new goldrider's name. Mylorah. He muttered a quick thanks, reaching down to give the bronze's eyeridges a quick scratch before arriving at the woman and giving her a smile as she oiled her bonded. "Hello there, want any help? Or mind if I join you? I'm Qui... sorry, I'vens. You're Mylorah right? I just wanted to get to know you a bit, you seem interesting." And pretty, the bronze helpfully added. The fact that her mate was a gold made introductions and conversation acceptable enough for the hatchling so he sat down and waited for his rider to do whatever it was he was going to or for his golden sister to be finished with her oiling so that maybe they could play.

RE: 743.08.04 | Introductions - Mylorah - 05.Aug.22

Mylorah glanced up when she thought she heard her name but assumed it was done as part of someone else's conversation and not directed at her. Not even two full days and she was already exhausted by the voices and with a slight headache that came and went thanks to all of the weyrlings. V'ra had pointed out several times already that at least it was only twenty-three dragonets and not an Aradissicath clutch that could be roughly forty. She was fairly certain that was one of the big reasons V'ra stayed in Telgar so she could avoid teaching those classes.

But a moment later she did have someone approaching her and Mylorah smiled up at him, pausing in her tending to the cream puff. She had seen the handsome young man around but hadn't had the chance to properly meet him thanks to her busy schedule of catching up with her Telgar friends and then Gangleri arriving so she was pretty excited he had Impressed. "Nice to finally meet you, I'vens. And thank you," Mylorah smiled with a light chuckle chasing it as the dragon complimented her. She assumed that it actually came from the bronzerider but for some reason he didn’t want to lead with it. Amagrith nudged her hand with her nose and Mylorah turned her smile onto her. Right, the dragonets would be the reason and only casual comments allowed.

“But yeah! Just finishing up and then do you want to sit outside and let the kids play? V’lia is already out there babysitting a couple of pairs.” They were warned the early days would be a bit chaotic and not really any actual lessons happening as they just focused on the necessities and Mylorah was glad exercise was essentially play time with running around outside where she could flop and enjoy the sun while catching her breath.

That sounds like a lovely idea. Sherekhath, would you like to play with me? Mylorah likes to laze in the sun but I find it nice to play and pounce on shadows! Amagrith gave a small demonstration with a front paw slapping the stone floor since she couldn’t do a full pounce due to Mylorah finishing up on a back haunch.

RE: 743.08.04 | Introductions - I'vens - 06.Aug.22

"Outside sounds fine to me, what do you think Sherekhath?" He was pretty sure he already knew, especially as the bronze's tail gave an eager switch behind him. Pouncing sounds fun. The bronze tried to keep his voice calm and dignified, but he was already starting to wiggle a bit in eager anticipation. I'vens smiled. Maybe with the extra play time, it would help wear Sher down so much that he couldn't help but pass out too.

Out of habit he offered Mylorah his elbow once she'd finished her oiling, though remembering the lessons about how possessive the hatchlings could be he paused and turned to the gold, giving her a bow too before saying, "I lived in Igen Hold where it's polite to escort pretty ladies to fun places like play time. I don't have to if you don't want though." It would be so nice to just watch Sherekhath entertain himself with one of his siblings. He felt bad that he was too exhausted to participate in the pouncing games he knew his little friend wanted to play. Hopefully the sleep would catch up before Sher outgrew the playfulness.

In the meantime though, as they made their way outside, he couldn't help but casually flirt a little more, while also trying to be mindful of the current restrictions on them. "You're lucky you managed to get a gold dragon as pretty as you. Sherekhath is quite striking, I'm worried he'll just get all the attention for himself." Was that a good line? He wasn't entirely sure and he couldn't help but laugh a little at himself. "Sorry, I'm exhausted. I'm a very light sleeper, so I might be a little loopy, though I'm pretty sure you'll still be pretty even when I'm rested. So what do you think you'll be up to in four months or so?"

Sherekhath huffed as he took a moment to prance around the two before wiggling his rear a tiny bit to pounce at his sister. I don't see why you need to wait so long to play. If you want to, you should just do it. His rider was wonderful after all, he should be allowed to indulge. And if he should be allowed, then clearly Amagrith's mate should be allowed to do things too.

RE: 743.08.04 | Introductions - Mylorah - 07.Aug.22

Amagrith playfully swatted at Sherekhath when he pounced at her and gave a chirp before dashing away. She expected him to chase without being told to and didn’t look back to confirm if it was true. Mylorah laughed at the babies playing, grateful that they both seemed to be in good spirits and wouldn’t need too much hands on time for the moment. She sat down where she stood, happy with the sunlight hitting her and reached up to tug on I’vens hand to get him to join her. She took another moment to just smile and stare up at the sky and then turned that smile on her companion to answer everything he had been saying but she held off on as the dragons settled in.

“Not everything you say has to be a line, you know. At least with me. It’s flattering but not needed. I already think you’re attractive and I’m interested in knowing more from the little I’ve already seen,” He had the charm of a lordling, though not as powerful as Tazikel’s, and he was able to apologise and point out a flaw with how little sleep he was trying to function on. And then he gave up and was blunt without being too blunt for the sake of the dragonets, though the little bronze seemed to think he’d be fine with the humans playing. It really did make her wonder why they had to wait so long if a dragonet thought sex was playing and no real attachment was involved to make anyone jealous.

“Four months is a long ways away,” she confessed, already sad over finally be put in the place she and so many others dreaded. It had only been a couple of days since she last had sex so it wasn’t the longest she’d gone without but it was kind of the lack of any form of human contact that might actually be what got to her. She would have to try to ease Amagrith and some of the other little ones into the idea of cuddling is definitely okay so she could get cozy with her men again.

“Maybe, if you’re daring, you can ask about my plans in two or so months,” that might actually be her breaking point if she had to put a timeframe on her celibacy. But she wouldn’t be able to break it with Tazikel or Gangleri given all the feelings that came with them but there were a few fun friends in her class and a potential new one beside her. Maybe she was also a little loopy from not sleeping properly already but Mylorah decided her latest wicked idea was one to follow through on and glanced at V’lia who was currently helping a cute green pair with something.

“Y’know… it might be polite in Igen Hold to escort pretty ladies but amongst my friends in the Weyrs, it’s polite to greet friends with a kiss,” one more look at V’lia and then their dragons still pouncing tails and shadows, and Mylorah leaned toward I’vens to kiss him on the lips, tongue giving a teasing sweep against his once she was given the chance before pulling back and looking out at their dragons again. Amagrith looked at her with a little tilt of the head but seemed to think whatever she had done was fine and turned to swipe at the bronze that came dashing by again. “I look forward to becoming even better friends, I’vens.”

RE: 743.08.04 | Introductions - I'vens - 07.Aug.22

The swat was met with a rumbly growl that couldn't sound anything but adorable due to Sherekhath's size as he eagerly chased after Amagrith in a bouncy bounding gait. It was a silly youthful thrill that made it easy for I'vens to grin and forget how tired he was. He easily allowed himself to be tugged down, settling easily next to the woman and stretching his legs out enough that the side of his thigh casually rested against hers. This was nice, I'vens decided as he watched his little bronze get a swat of his own in before spinning about to sprint off for his turn being chased.

The sight of the scampering hatchlings and the excitement he could feel made him chuckle even as he glanced over at Mylorah and nodded. "It's not that not everything needs to be a line with you, but sometimes it's just fun, especially when someone's pretty enough to deserve it." He gave her a playful wink. "As far as knowing more, clearly the best way is to experience it for yourself," he kept his voice on the low side, not wanting to draw too much attention to them with the bit of flirting. With their teachers distracted and the babies also busy playing it seemed safe enough.

He'd nodded a bit at the four month reminder, a little distracted as Sher and Amagrith had another little exchange and swapped who was chasing again. And then he found himself quite distracted by Mylorah and he grinned, leaning a bit more in her direction as he turned his full focus back to her. "I think I could be daring, but at two months the real question is can you be sneaky?" There was a very playful edge to his voice that indicated he was certainly confident in his own abilities.

And then Mylorah kissed him and there was just a brief moment where he had started to kiss her back and try to deepen that kiss only to have her pull away, leaving him flushed and reminded of their current limitations as he quickly pretended he was more interested in watching the dragons in case someone looked their way. After a moment he laughed and cleared his throat. "Even better friends, indeed. Though I suppose since we have some time before I can give you a more personal experience I could tell you a little about myself. Not too much though, I have to leave some mystery to keep you interested."

Sherekhath's sudden stumble and fall as he was being chased made I'vens pause for a moment, frowning in both confusion and concern. He didn't think the dragon was hurt, but he also hadn't thought he was about to fall either. But then as soon as the gold got close, the bronze bounced up with a roar to pounce and tackle his playmate. With a sigh of relief and a chuckle, I'vens relaxed again and turned back to Mylorah. "So, my Uncle is Habraxel, Lord of Igen. He practically raised me. It meant I got to attend all of the best parties," that was an exaggeration, there were certainly some more private parties he knew his uncle threw that he and his cousins were absolutely not invited to.

"And let's see, what else... I like being outside and hiking." At that he stretched his arms upwards and lazily lounged back until he was lying on the grass and basking in the warmth of the sun as if he was some sort of lizard on a rock. "Think they'll just let me sleep out here? I might actually be able to get some rest that way. If they think I need company you could stay and tell them you'll keep me safe."

RE: 743.08.04 | Introductions - Mylorah - 08.Aug.22

Mylorah perked up considerably when she heard the family connection and the dragons were forgotten as she turned more toward I'vens. "Your uncle is Lord Habraxel? I adore him! And it explains where your charm comes from. I've met him a couple of times at parties that Tazikel took me to," she continued as a way of explanation. Lord Igen was a notorious flirt and she had heard some fun gossip about him but Mylorah didn't think his nephew would want to know all of it. But she did have a thought to get Geric and I'vens to meet before the Harper returned home.

"In a year, you'll have to show me around Igen Hold and your favourite hiking trails," assuming she'd be allowed to do such things. One of the biggest cons she could think of for Impressing gold had always been the lack of freedom. Goldriders weren't able to travel as much as others and definitely couldn't between a Flight and Hatching. She understood the reasoning and also believed gold dragons were important but it still sucked for the dragon and rider. She shoved that negativity away and stretched out beside I'vens. "I'm from Katila so being surrounded by trees all the time is something I miss but the Weyrs have their charms and a lot of space at least."

She laughed at the idea of sleeping outside and keeping him company. "That sounds nice but it wouldn't be just us for long. I think Ta--" Mylorah caught herself this time. Normally she found it easy to switch to honorifics soon after an Impression but her men were an entirely different story and it made for a struggle. "Z'kel and L'ri would find their way out here because it's where I am and Ch'es loves the outdoors and space." Just to name a few. A couple of other friends might tag along or a dragonet or two would like the idea and soon the whole class would be camping under the stars. That thought did make her want to have some nights out like that and had her excited for her own weyr and ledge to sit or sleep on at night.

Hearing a scuffle, Mylorah sat up and saw the gold and bronze tumbling together but the waves of pleasure coming from Amagrith had her relaxing. Just a little rough housing as they played and no serious injuries or viciousness involved. She laid back down and watched a cloud quickly blowing across the sky. "If you want to try napping while Sherekhath is distracted, I don't mind watching him."

RE: 743.08.04 | Introductions - I'vens - 09.Aug.22

"Ah you've met him? He's a very good man, took me and my mom in without hesitation after... well after we were alone and wound up at his front step." I'vens gave a small shrug at that, not wanting to dwell so much on unpleasant topics. "But I've been living with him for a long time, and he's practically been a father to me. He's just been very busy lately. When he found out about the Touching he was going to clear his calendar in time to come to the Hatching but..." he shrugged and gestured around in the vague direction of hatchlings as he said, "some dragons didn't want to stick to any schedules it seems."

The thought of going back in and seeing his family made him smile, especially a certain cousin of his. Nebraxin was the last person he should have been thinking of, but he couldn't really help himself. So he tried to focus on the pretty woman next to him instead and turned his smile to her as he nodded. "I would love to show you around." The mention of Katila wasn't expected but it made sense enough so he just nodded as he wondered if he'd known her once upon a time. "Just keep in mind it's quite hot during the day most times of the year, but it's very dry at least, not like the jungle, unless you head east towards the river, but that just gets more marshy. There are some fruit orchards but otherwise not a whole lot of trees."

Since Mylorah laughed at his suggestion they sleep outside, I'vens decided to rotate just enough to use the woman's lap as a pillow. It was perhaps a little bit personal, but it would be easy enough to stop if she or their dragons objected. "Z'kel and L'ri huh? They're attached to you?" He ran through his memory to try and place them. He was pretty sure both lord lings from the Stands had honorifics that started with Z, and L'ri... that was the old man if he remembered right, the Harper who kept chattering on and wouldn't sleep while he adjusted. Wouldn't let him sleep as a result either.

"A nap does sound lovely... if you're fine with it then that sounds rather good. Feel free to tell me some fun stories about yourself if you want. Or you can ask more questions. If I fall asleep then I'll just have to answer your questions when I wake up, or have you retell me a story or two." He yawned as he settled in, eyes closing as he smiled and listened to Sher playing with Amagrith. "I'm glad they're getting along. He really likes to play."

RE: 743.08.04 | Introductions - Mylorah - 11.Aug.22

“I’m sure once he’s allowed to visit that Lord Habraxel will clear his schedule for you. He must be so proud,” it felt like a safe assumption to make from what she knew of the Lord and the simple fact that he was fine with I’vens being Searched. The fact that his nephew was now a bronzerider as well would be worth boasting about, though Mylorah also suspected the man would have been fine with any colour with how cool he seemed and the gossip floating around about him. “And I love the heat so I’ll be very happy on the tour. I’m actually a little sad I Impressed here since staying in Ista Weyr would have been heavenly.” But she couldn’t turn down Standing for a clutch one of her brothers’ dragons sired! She was happy Amagrith was a child of Xyxyth but a Tiberuth baby would have been special just because of how extra happy K’dar would have been.

Mylorah laughed at having her men labelled as being attached to her. “Yeah, I suppose they are. I was worried I somehow caused their Impressions but Amagrith said that I don’t need them to get through weyrlinghood but keeping them close brings me happiness. She’s taken to that idea surprisingly well so far.” That was likely because she was doing her best not to think about how wonderful each man made her feel and how she might shatter if she never got to see either of them again. She didn’t want to test that theory with the dragonets still being ridiculously young so she tried to keep her feelings on lockdown and treat all of her classmates about the same.

It was why she started running her fingers through I’vens’ hair in a gentle touch to help him relax for that needed nap. She didn’t mind that he claimed her lap since others—including dragons—had already taken a liking to doing the same thing. “I’m sure I can think of some boring stories to help lull you to sleep. And maybe the playing will help Sherekhath tire out as well for a group nap.” It really was a nice morning and a good time to rest under the sun but she would hold out on that desire as she fulfilled the promise if watching the young dragons play.
