743.05.26 | Just String and Bones - T'cai - 26.May.22

I want a puppy. Toynolth cracked an eye open as he glanced over at T'cai who was sitting shirtless in the sun on a grassy patch in the bowl as he deftly wrapped and knotted strands of red and gold thread around bits of bone. The man paused just long enough to glance back at his dragon who was laying down in his familiar loaf formation, tail wrapped snuggly around and legs hidden away under him in a fashion that made him look quite pillowy. You realize that puppies cannot fly? They also aren't always quite as good at not falling off things, like ledges. The blue closed his eyes and considered for a moment. Then I want to visit with some puppies. I'll see what I can do after the class graduates.

That satisfied the dragon for the moment at least, and T'cai got back to work. It was nice that the weyrlings were older now and more independent; sure he still had to get on a few of them to finish their studies or show up to training on occasion, but he had a bit more free time to work with his bones again. A flash of bronze out the corner of his eye made the bluerider look up, huffing slightly in amusement as he saw Hispidath waiting outside the entrance closest to the infirmary again. You should remind Hispidath that with how large and fast he's growing he should probably fly more than just once per day during formation practice. That and Rh'us really should run once a day. I don't care if he thinks he's too old to bother. Toynolth didn't budge from his comfortable and cozy loaf as he passed on the message, though T'cai could feel his dragon's amusement. Sometimes it was just easier to get a dragon to comply than their rider. Sometimes.

With that little distraction handled, T'cai held up his tangled pile of strings and bones as he tried to decide if he wanted to add anything else to this particular windchime. He didn't have an owner in mind for it yet, but sometimes he could just pick one up and know that it needed more or less bones. This one definitely needed a few more. He grabbed the bag lying next to his shirt and dug through it until he found a few chunky vertebrae to add in. They'd hopefully add a nice hollow thock to the overall piece. A small surge in curiosity from his dragon was enough for T'cai to know someone was probably approaching, but since the blue didn't bother to move he decided it wasn't anyone terribly important or one of the students so he didn't bother to either look or pause in his work yet.
