742.06.28 | Sewing in the Sun - Vondal - 29.Jun.21

It was a bright and warm day and Vondal hated working inside, or at least he hated working inside now. He wasn't sure if that was always the case or if life on the ship made him appreciate being above deck out in the open, either way he couldn't resist the lure of a nice sunny day and so he was out at the edge of the bowl, sitting down shirtless with some clothing that belonged to some rider and needed mending. It wasn't the most exciting work, but it was useful, and more importantly he could do it.

At least most of the time. Vondal let out a curse that would make any of his fellow sailors back on the ship proud as his hands began to tremble again. This wasn't good, half the time the tremors would go away, the other half they'd get worse and then the headaches would hit. A twitch in his eye did not bode well and he carefully fumbled his needles away into their pincushion and made sure to scoot them a little further away as he moved to hold his head in his hands for a moment, palms covering his eyes as he waited for the first stab of pain.

And then he waited... and waited a bit more. With a sigh of relief Vondal released his head only to get a small aching throb. That was fine, this was fine. It was better than the usual headaches, so he could probably work through it. He took a few deep breaths to steady himself, grabbed his waterskin for a long drink, and then grabbed his needles again, sticking one in his mouth as he threaded the other and got to work stitching the rips and tears closed while he hummed a shanty.

He was so absorbed in his work that he didn't notice someone approaching and when they startled him with a greeting he nearly spat out his needle. Instead he grabbed onto it and squinted up at the silhouette of a person. "Hello, something I can do for you?"
