Please submit for updates: here Flight InformationFlights, particularly those of green dragons, are a common occurrence at any Weyr, and here is no different; there are approximately enough green dragons across the populated Weyrs for a flight to occur at least several times a week. As a result, there are often hormonal (or ‘proddy’) greenriders running around a Weyr at any given time. ‘Proddy’ is the term used to explain a greenrider’s temperament when their dragon becomes hormonal – often making the rider obnoxious, emotional or excessively flirty – shortly before their dragon rises. This attitude is rarely an indication of the man’s usual personality; Proddy is a dragonrider equivalent to PMS. A greenrider usually only becomes Proddy a few hours before – a day at most – his dragon Rises. Goldriders, in comparison, can become Proddy up to a week and a half before her dragon Rises. One with experience can also tell when a dragon is due to Rise by the enhanced colour the female dragon will usually take on, as well as her own boost in confidence and sultry attitude. Like her rider’s short Proddy period, a green dragon will only ‘glow’ shortly before she Flies, very rarely will this occur up to a day before, but usually it is something that happens a few short hours before the Flight. In comparison, gold dragons are more likely to display their upcoming Flight by glowing a week or so before she Rises. However, this is a general rule, and exceptions have occurred. Most dragons can be easily predicted; some few are very unpredictable and seem to Fly without any warning at all, and while most onlookers can pick a Proddy green or her rider, a lot of greenriders aren’t always aware that they have become Proddy, despite the unreasonable attitude they often display. The manner in which a Player may RP their dragon’s Flight is up to them, and we encourage Players to avoid situations in which they would become uncomfortable; however, it should be noted that our canon does not allow for Stand-Ins, but rather we strongly believe in the dragon completely over ruling the human in this area. As such, it should be noted that flights are an extremely emotional time, as the dragon’s desires and thoughts conquer anything going on in the rider’s mind – fear, anticipation, anxiety, joy – all of this is overrun by the single most basic need the dragon has: to copulate. This results in flights that are often rough, and occasionally messy. It is common occurrence for greenriders in particular to come out of with nasty bruises, fractured ribs, or messy faces – especially if they or their dragon is considered a ‘fighter’. Uglier results are less common, but hardly unknown; no one comes out of a Flight without marks to show for it. Because of the nature of Flights, Stand-Ins are considered dangerous and are heavily discouraged. Punishment can, and will, be bestowed for endangering someone in such a manner. Additionally, it is impossible for a Rider not to partake in their dragon’s Flight. They have no choice in the matter, and while they may resent it before and/or afterwards, for the duration of the Flight – when their mind has become one with their dragon – they are as willing and receptive as their beast. With all that said, a dragon – male or female – will NEVER rise or give chase if their human partner is incapable of handling the emotional strain. For example, a green dragon would not fly if her rider was mentally too young to enter into a physical experience such as that – whether her human is thirteen or twenty-three; this helps keep maiden flights at an agreeable age for those under-age characters that Impress, while also allowing freedom for writers to play a character safely. So said, as a general rule, all Characters under the age of sixteen will be considered ‘immature’, and only those characters of the age of eighteen may play in a descriptive thread. We understand that our Flight system is not for everyone, and you are encouraged to forgo RPing any situations that make you uncomfortable – but this is how Flights work on this forum. |
