Born and raised a Holder, Aili tends to wear skirts when she can't wear dresses. She was raised to be modest and proper and takes a quiet, demure pride in dressing as is 'proper' for a woman, especially one of her rank. Born and raised in the generally chilly climate that is Fort Hold, she is most comfortable in heavy woollen skirts, stockings, sturdy winter boots, and cloaks that keep her warm and dry when she is forced outside.

Aili's summer attire tends to still run in the form of either ankle-length skirts, or those that sit tea-length - made of cotton now, rather than wool - and elbow-length fine cotton shirts that she has decorated herself with embroidery. Most of her embroidery centres around flowers, the scenery from around the Hold, and occasionally dragons.

717.xx.xx - Aili's parents were married when Edison was 22, and Aileeanna was 19; the marriage was one of love and affection, rather than political - a bonus for their being general Holders - and not for political reasoning. Edison's parents gave them the money to start the little herbalist store, "Thistle Do Nicely". The couple worked hard to make it a financial success; it was slow going in the beginning, but as they grew to know their plants and their uses, and what people wanted, the little shop - excuse the pun - bloomed.

720.xx.xx - The couple had their first son; he is set to inherit the family herbalist store when the couple are ready to retire.

722.xx.xx - The couple had their first daughter.

724.02.15 - Deeanna, their third child, and second daughter, is born. She passed away from pneumonia before the year was done (24th of month 09).

727.05.22 - Aili is born, the fourth child and third daughter of her parents. Her parents weren't sure they wanted more children, especially after the loss of Deeanna, and Aileeanna was taking a herbal concoction to prevent pregnancy; unfortunately, she had to stop when they were unable to get the herbs in question, and Aili was the result of that. While not planned, she wasn't unwanted, and her parents took delight in having another infant in their lives again.

729.xx.xx - Aili's younger sister is born. She is the fifth child and fourth daughter of the couple. Aili, who is only a toddler, isn't overly impressed by this new addition, but as a generally quiet and placid baby, she is easily placated.

735.xx.xx - Dragons return to the Northern and take up residence in Telgar Weyr. Seven-year-old Aili has never seen a dragon, obviously, and only hears about the return when she catches snippets of the adults' conversation, mostly her parents late at night when she should be sleeping, or while helping out in the store when the more open individuals come by. She doesn't know why, but all the adults seem to have varying opinions on the dragonriders, and many of them seem angry, while others seem excited. Aili isn't sure what this means but keeps her questions to herself.

736.xx.xx - The dragonriders have repopulated the Fort Weyr, and Aili sees dragons for the first time, first from a distance as they fly over the Hold, and eventually up close when the dragonriders and weyrfolk visit the Hold for a Gathering. To the young girl, they seem very regal and impressive, and she finds herself awed by them, and more than a little intimidated by the presence of their riders though she has little enough to do with them.

738.xx.xx - Aili's brother is engaged to a young lady from a family that lives nearby. Aili finds her nice and thinks her pretty. She's happy for her brother, who seems quite content with the arrangement. He doesn't say anything to her, of course, but Aili is pretty sure they were secretly courting long before either set of parents are aware of the arrangement. The pair are married after a short engagement, and decide to travel for a year or so before returning home to settle down and have children.

740.xx.xx - Aili, now in her 13th year, begins to help out in the store more, assisting with stocking the shelves, tending the plants that they grow themselves, and helping with customers. She's shy, but engaged and intelligent, making her a worthy assistant. Her mother takes up teaching her to read, write and do math so that her daughter can help with the bookkeeping side of things when needed. It is during this year that Aili meets Rhaedalyn for the first time, and while she is incredibly shy and awed by the woman she soon discovers is not only a gold rider but also the Weyrwoman, she takes to her and enjoys Rhaedalyn's visits.

742.xx.xx - Aili's older brother and his wife return from their adventures. The pair take up jobs in the herb store, and Aili finds she has a lot more free time now. Her brother isn't particularly keen on her being there, feeling like she's always underfoot instead of being useful. Aili is far too sweet-natured to object, but she feels great disappointment at being unwanted. She begins spending more time in the Hold streets, moving between stores. When she's not wandering the streets exploring, Aili spends time at home, working on her embroidery and embellishing her clothing. At some point in the second half of the year, she meets up with Rhaedalyn in passing, and ends up telling her about the change in circumstances with her family. Rhaedalyn asks her if she would like to come to live with her in the Weyr.

743.05.05 - While Aili expressed an immediate interest in moving to the Weyr with Rhaedalyn, she was too scared to bring it up to her parents for several weeks. She finally did, and they were... reluctant. It took them meeting with Rheadalyn and R'nya before they agreed to release the fifteen (almost sixteen!) year old Aili into their custody. Aili arrived at the Weyr a few weeks before her birthday, where she was given a weyr of her own a little down the hall from where the Weyrleaders lived. Now she spends her time assisting Rhaedalyn with whatever she can, including babysitting her daughters, and sitting in Candidate classes, wide-eyed and filled with awe.

743.05.22 - She was gifted a Firelizard egg for her 16th birthday, it has yet to Hatch.
