Ista is heating up swiftly, and preparing for a rough summer - hopefully nothing like the one from a couple turns before with the wildfires! The rest of Northern Pern is warming upsomewhat slower, but with no less gusto as summer begins to creep into the sky, keeping the sun awake longer, warming the ledges of the weyrs. Rainstorms are sporadic, but keep the world well watered, despite the heat of the days.

The Red Star can be seen by those who choose to see it, causing no shortage of whispers that Thread will return - and just as much dismissal from those who do not believe. After all, it's been so long, surely it is no longer a threat! Weyrleaders are, regardless, beginning to put together wings in their Weyrs, if only to keep troublesome and bored riders busy.

Month 12, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Winter -3 - 2 C | 26 - 35 F
Fort is already home to snowfalls, though early in the month they fade away when the sun rises. As the month progresses, more snow stays on the ground, ending up with several feet of snow before the month is over. The areas around homes and populations has the snow shoveled away or trodden down. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove some danger and are routinely removed.

Ista Boundaries:
Winter, 9 - 21 C | 48 - 69 F
Generally warm enough to go about without a jacket on, Ista has low humidity but high chance of rain, generally in the form of vicious afternoon thunderstorms. The storms wash away any bite of heat the day had, and leave it feeling fresh for the night. The days are short, but grow bright quickly and the afternoons seem to be particularly short when heavy thunderstorms roll in and cover the sky.

Telgar Boundaries:
Winter, -5 - 0 C | 23 - 32 F
Bitterly cold, with icy winds constantly flowing down from the mountains. Freezing rain is almost constant; the sky always a murky grey and the ground slippery with slushy refrozen ice. The days are extremely short, with the nights dropping a good number below the daily average. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove a major danger, and are checked upon every day, with anything bigger than a fist being removed.

Month 07, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Summer 27 - 38 C | 80 - 100 F
Light breezes down from the mountains tot he North keep the temperature comfortable, even when the sun can bake an egg on the edge of a weyr. Sunburn is common.

Ista Boundaries:
Summer, 34 - 43 C | 93 - 110 F
A very dry, dusty heat. Little to no rain, causing more than some to worry about the drought not breaking and the rest of the Isle being at risk of fires. Many seek the depths of weyr, hold or hall during the midday and early afternoon heat.

Telgar Boundaries:
Summer, 26 - 35 C | 79 - 95 F
Muggy, sticky and generally just plain humid. Thunder storms are regular occurances, often happening in the early afternoon or evening, with heavy rainfall before drying off sometime in the night. Mornings are usually crisp, but warm up swiftly.

Month 04, 740 AL
North: Early Spring | South: Early Autumn
−1.9 C to 4.7 C | 20.0 C to 29.0

Spring has sprung, with the snow slowly melting in much of the North, creating mushy grounds and greyish, icy snow piles that are doing their best to melt. In comparison, Ista finds itself naturally warmer, (~10C / 50) and many people who can find rides are making their way to the Island to spend some time in warmth and sunshine, away from the lingering touch of winter.

Katila is beginning to cool down to more reasonable temperature, but is no less muggy and uncomfortable to those who are not used to the seasons. It is still a good place to escape to when seeking a warm day or a nice swim at the lake, though.

Winter has come slowly to the Northern lands of Pern, with more rain and cold winds than snow. As the month progresses, more and more snow will fall, with frequent blizzard-like storms towards the very end of the month. Telgar and Fort will in particular become burried under mountains of snow, while Ista is sunjected to frequent icy rainstorms, and heavy winds coming in from across the ocean.

Following the disastrous fires (sometime in around the 28th of Month 08), Ista Isle has found itself suddenly in the midst of constant rain; not enough to flood, but a steady, dreary downfall that seems to only take a time out for a couple of hours here and there, before coming back again. Its cast the entire sooty Isle into a sombre and depressed mood. Alongside the rain, the weather is muggy and while not hot, is not particularly cool, either.

The rest of Northern Pern is getting their usual weather, though they, too, have been called to action following the wildfires that savaged Ista. Many individuals who called Ista Island home have been relocated not just to Ista Weyr, Ista Hold or Sea Cliff Hold, but also to other areas of Pern, whether with family or friends.

Month 08, 739 AL
North: Late Summer | South: Late Winter
17.4 to 25.5 C | 10.8 C to 23.2 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm - 37 to 45 C - has resulted in an incredibly dry summer, with little to no rain. This was climaxed by a dry thunderstorm, the results of which caused three fires to start across the Island on the 24.07.739 in the early morning hours. While the results of this are yet to be played out, the events will no doubt leave more than just the scarring of the land.

North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter
18.0 to 26.6 C | 10.2 C to 21.9 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm, with average weather being in the 37 to 45 C range, making it now a more than slightly undesirable escape for the rest of the Northern population from the more enjoyable early summer weather. There has been very little in the way of rain, though the coastal areas are no stranger to the salty wind. Ista's limited farmlands and fields are dry and dusty, with golden straw instead of grass where there is any growth at all.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Northern areas are still getting a lot of evening rain and the occasional thunderstorms, which cools down the populus and allows them to sleep easily without sweating their brains out like the Istans.

Month 11, 738 AL
North: Late Autumn | South: Late Spring

Autumn is coming to an end, with the days slowly becoming shorter still, with early nights and late mornings. The temperature is getting very cool, with jackets being more required, but it has yet to actually snow. Despite this, it is often raining and miserable.

The Southern contient is in full bloom, with flowers coming to life in the grasses and on the trees. The skies are bright blue with fluffy clouds, and occassional sunshowers bringing a dampness to the day. The nights are still crisp, but not cold. The ground is starting to dry up as water is absorbed by the blooming flora.

Month 10, 738 AL
North: Mid Autumn | South: Mid Spring

Autumn is in full tilt, with the leaves a shocking array of orange and red, and more of them on the ground than on the trees. The skies are often a clear and crisp blue, with a cool breeze flowing, shifting the leaves and sending them scattering. Rain is not common, but when it does roll in the skies are dark like night come early, and thunderstorms are not uncommon, though they don't last for long and the amount of rain that falls isn't too heavy.

Month 09, 738 AL
North: Start Autumn | South: Start Spring

Nothern regions are entering into Autumn, with the trees beginning to change to their reds and oranges, while the air is beginning to feel more crips. There are still more warm days than cool, and the nights are mostly warm enough for light bedding still. Rain has faded away and most days are clear and bright.

The Southern contient finds itself heading into spring, with rain and flowers vying for attention. The ground is often muddy and squishy, while the skies are either bright and blue, or overcast wtih fluffy clouds.

Month 08, 738 AL
North: End Summer | South: End Winter

Summer is winding to an end in the Northern hemisphere, with the weather slowly cooling and the trees beginning to turn their leaves. The days are still long and bright, but the sun is beginning to lose some of its strength.

The coastal Weyrs are falling victim to coastal storms, strong winds and heavy rains with thunder and lightening.

The more inbound Weyrs and Holds find themselves drier, not getting nearly as much rain or storms, they find themselves on the end of a long drought.

Month 07, 738 AL
North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter

Summer is in full spring in the Nothern hemisphere, with the bulk of each day being unbearbly hot, followed by vicious thunderstorms and heavy humidity in the evenings and at night.

The coastal areas are experiencing monsoon like weather, and spend a lot of their time locked away in Hold, Hall or Weyr.

The more inner locations find themselves faced with more dry heat during the day, and horrible humidity in the evening and at night while the thunderstorms rage.

General Description:
Madiquel is made up of long limbs; long arms, long legs, and a long torso that all form into a tall teenager. Despite her youth, she is not coltish at all, but instead maintains well defined muscles of legs and arms, with a flat stomach – but also a flat chest and narrow hips. Puberty hasn’t really hit her yet, and doesn’t appear it will anytime soon.

Her face is oval of shape, with a slightly pointy chin, the shape further defined when she smiles – which she does often. Her teeth are white and straight and her smile is large and cheerful; her lips are full and pink. Madiquel’s nose is proportioned nicely for her face, and her large green eyes almost seem to pop against the pale olive of her skin and the honeyed brown of her hair and eyebrows.

Madiquel’s long limbs extend to long fingers, which are nimble and quick with small knots and trinkets, the girl often seen untangling nets and fishing lines, as well as threads for weaving and sewing. Her body claims no real freckles, but she has a few oddly placed moles; there is one on her left hip in the shape of a heart, and a trifecta of freckles on her right shoulder, forming an upside down triangle.

Overall, Madiquel is a pretty child, who promises an elegant and conventionally beautiful woman when she reaches her full growth.
General Dressing Style:
Born and raised a Weyrbrat in Katila, Madiquel spent most of her life wearing hand-me-downs from all the other Weyrbrats within Katila; some of the items were very well loved, heavily repaired, but still functional. It wasn’t until the Weyr began to look to moving North again that she found herself with more viable options of clothing.

As she aged, Madiquel developed a taste for tidy clothing; things less worn and repaired. With choices being given to her, Madiquel took to wearing fitted leather pants and cotton blouses with rolled up sleeves; things that were function for a life around dragons, and chores. Solid boots and a pair of gloves tucked into her belt completed the ensemble of clothing.

On days where getting dressed up is the code to go by, Madiquel has a few special dresses she’s managed to obtain since the Weyr moved North. They’re long and flowing, with an excess of lace and short sleeves; the skirts fall to mid-calf and she wears small heeled boots to complete the look. Her hair is often styled appropriately when she dresses up – lots of braids and pulled back from her face but falling long and loose down her back.

Personality
Likes:
Flowers: Madiquel has a fancy for flowers, and had her own little garden near her mother's hut before the landslide took everything away. Most of the flowers she grew were weeds, but they looked and smelled pretty and she cultivated quite the little garden, and inside the hut there was always a vase or three filled with fresh blooms.

Rain showers: Gentle rainfalls are Madiquel's favourite; they bring a freshness to the air and a dampness to the garden that do the flowers well. While Katila wasn't known for its gentle rainfalls, it just made Madiquel that much more appreciative of those that did come around.

Poetry: There wasn't a whole lot of poetry - or good poets - during her youth in Katila, but since coming North, Madiquel has found a couple of youthful Harpers who have been willing to retail their poetry to her, and she has found herself enamoured by it, if not by the young men. Madiquel hasn't had much success with creating her own poems, but she finds it entertaining to try.
Strengths:
Cheerful: Madiquel is a naturally sunny girl, with an easy smile and a bright personality. She’s one of those that is capable of brightening a room just by entering; her smile is big and never forced. Madiquel gives off all appearances of being someone who is never down, and indeed, she’s never one to display her displeasure or depression to those around her, keeping it private and to herself.

Brave: Madiquel has an inner strength that keeps her standing tall, against almost all odds; she is not easily cowed, and even when frightened, does her best to meet that fear head on and overcome it. While she doesn’t always succeed, she does come out above more often than not.

Loyal: Naturally a shy child, Madiquel doesn’t surround herself with countless individuals; instead, she maintains a handful of true and tried friends to whom she is intensely loyal. Madiquel considers it a paramount requirement of friendship to be unquestioningly loyal, faithful, and trustworthy. Thus far in her young life, Madiquel hasn’t had anyone betray her, so she hasn’t felt the sting of a broken heart, but it is something she fears in her heart of hearts.
Dislikes:
Downers: Madiquel does not enjoy being around individuals who are sour, complainers or people she calls ‘downers’ – the type of people who make others miserable, just being around them. The ones that suck the joy right out of the immediate area and leave even the brightest day feeling overcast and unpleasant. Madiquel doesn’t mind people who are genuinely upset – indeed she goes out of her way to brighten those folks up – but she will turn on a heel and abandon anyone who is sulking for the sole purpose of sulking.

Judgement: Madiquel is not a fan of judgemental individuals. This isn’t to say that Madiquel is above having judgemental thoughts herself, but rather that she keeps such things to herself, and is of the opinion that everyone else should, too. Madiquel dislikes being judged, taking such things with a grain of salt for all that she appears to accept any such comments.

Spoilt: Growing up in the communal ways of the crèche, being spoiled was not something Madiquel was subjected to; she had hand-me-down clothing, and enough attention to get her by but never more than that. As a result, she came to appreciate anything and everything she did get or have, which causes her to be rather disgusted by those who are spoiled, and cannot appreciate that fact.
Flaws:
Private: Madiquel is intensely private, keeping any negative emotions to herself and never one to dump her baggage on the doorstep of her friends. Both her fears and her dreams are kept close to the chest where she can guard them with a vengeance.

Timid: Perhaps Madiquel’s biggest flaw when it comes to making friends and socialising is her natural shyness and timidity. She is not one to put herself in the spot light, and certainly not one to do anything to draw attention to herself. While Madiquel won’t fall to pieces in the event that she becomes the centre of attention, she will certainly be incredibly uncomfortable.

Squeamish: Bugs and blood and all things gooey and gross are quick to turn Madiquel from poised and proper to green and sickly. She has no stomach for gore and blood, and has been pushed to be physically sick when she’s injured herself, as well as fainting. Bugs, on the other hand, are more inclined to make Madiquel squeal girlishly and flee in terror.
Habits & Mannerisms:
Madiquel has a habit of giggling when nervous or unsure of herself, soft little bubbles of laughter that are more adorable than anything else. She additionally smiles a lot, both when nervous and when excited. Madiquel wears a leather bracelet on her left wrist, and fiddles with it gently when anxious.
General Personality:
An inquisitive child, Madiquel has a curious streak that would get her into trouble if she weren’t so aware of avoiding trouble. As a result, Madiquel often looks in the direction of things she longs to explore or poke at, but never actually moves. Her eyes often dart about, looking at everything to be seen around her and curious about the ways work, her lip being chewed upon and her fingers wrought together.

Naturally shy, Madiquel isn’t someone who will put herself in the spotlight, and indeed, those times the spotlight is brought down upon her, she becomes a giggling and uncomfortable individual, stuttering slightly but mostly giggling between words or shy glances away. When put on the spot, Madiquel has a habit of focusing her attention on the small leather bracelet she has around her wrist, her fingers, and her feet rather than meeting the eyes of the many.

Due to her shy nature, Madiquel only has a handful of friends; it isn’t that she’s not a good friend – indeed, she is fiercely loyal – but because she isn’t comfortable going out and making them. Raised in Katila, she never had that many people around her to draw from, and since arriving North has found herself to be somewhat of a novelty to the other children her age. She was, after all, born in the mysterious South, in a Weyr, and her father is a dragonless dragonrider.

Madiquel is fiercely protective of her father and his reputation, never standing to hear gossip about the man that lost his dragon and is now assisting the Weyrleader in his job. She knows that the dragonless are something of a curiosity to people, both from within the Weyr and those outside it, but feels that that isn’t a good enough reason for people to ask insensitive questions. Not that it seems to stop them. Madiquel does her best to champion her father, but she isn’t a hot headed child and tends to fall short at simply glaring and huffing inelegantly when people start asking questions, as well as refusing outright to answer any that might be asked of her.

When her limits aren’t being tested, Madiquel is a bright and sunny child, with a bright and easy smile that is warm and welcoming. With a skip in her step and a generally cheerful demeanour, Madiquel is easy to spend time with; she isn’t someone to ask countless questions, but nor is she against sharing companionable silence. On that thought, Madiquel is a private youngster, who prefers to keep her hopes and dreams close to the chest, and rarely shares her secrets with anyone. This has made her a good candidate for friends who need an ear to hear them out, without a wagging tongue.

Important History:
724.07.20 & Birth: Madiquel was born to a woman in her early thirties - Elmadira - who had flightmothed a green flight and found herself in a tumble with bronzerider J'jin. Knowing the ways of the Weyr, Elmadira made no play for J'jin to claim her child, though she did mention it to the man during her pregnancy that he was the father, and left it at that.

728 & 4 Turns: Madiquel had just celebrated her fourth birthday a month prior when the Renewed Hope clutch cracked shell. She was too young to really remember the joy at Nirinath finally flying, and the sorrow that there was no gold in the clutch, or the harsh whispers that followed blue Rayrayth between. The child found the baby dragons to be incredibly fascinating and would have been constantly underfoot had her mother not made sure she was instead cooped up in the crèche.

730 & 6 Turns: Too young to really understand what is going on, Madiquel is fascinated by the sudden arrival of the young men and women who were Stolen by the Searchriders. She doesn't really understand why they are unhappy about their arrival in her home, and she is too young to do more than question them and be confused when they stalk off without answering.

731 & 7 Turns: Even young as she is, Madiquel is swept up in the excitement of a gold egg being laid; she is as curious and delighted as her fellow Weyrbrats, and often creeps as close as she can to see the egg without getting growled at by Nirinath or Tsuen. Comparably, the public lashing of a greenrider is something that Madiquel is sheltered from, as are the other young Weyrbrats in the crèche.

732 & 8 Turns: Even the children such as Madiquel are startled by the very young Krypth taking flight, but the implications of it are vastly lost on Madiquel. Instead, she celebrates with her friends over more eggs on the Sands, and begins to talk of someday Impressing herself. Madiquel mourns with the rest of the Weyr when green Unowth of Iruvia goes between for no apparent reason, though the loss is quickly over cast by the second flight of Krypth's. Madiquel is vastly unaffected by the poisoning of D'ren, focusing more on her studies and playing with her friends.

733 & 9 Turns: The flights of Krypth are mostly ignored as common grounds now, with more attention being put upon the execution of bronzerider T'shiro and his dragon Cucluith, though Madiquel doesn't really understand why the man was executed, until her mother sits her down and explains that he was responsible for the poisoning of D'ren, an event that surprises Madiquel, her childish attentions being oblivious to the nature of Weyrleader D'ren's health.

734 AL & 10 Turns: The landslide destroyed everything Madiquel took for granted in her life; her family, her safety, and the power of the dragonriders to be stronger than anything the world could throw at them - after all, they kept Thread away! In the aftermath of the landslide, Madiquel had lost her mother, her father had lost his dragon, and she had lost everything she had come to associate as being the norm. As the Weyr is rebuilt in New Katila, Madiquel finds herself attached to what remains of her father, doing her best to keep things normal in her own small world as she brings him food and begs him to eat, before she cries herself to sleep at night.

735 & 11 Turns: The move to the North is an exciting time for Madiquel, who sticks by her father but watches everything with open curiosity and excitement. She doesn't care where they go, so long as she is still with Jajojin, whom she has come to deeply care about since the Landslide, in more of a mothering way than as his daughter. The new living arrangements mean Madiquel is able to get her first real dresses and better clothing over all than the hand-me-down rags she's grown up in.

736.07.20 & 12 Turns: For her twelfth birthday, Madiquel received a gift of a firelizard egg from some of the creche staff. To all their surprise the egg Hatched on the day, spilling a little green firelizard Madiquel called Clover, into her delighted hands. Madiquel, who lives most of the time with her dragonless father, does her best to keep the little green away from the man when it becomes apparent that he dislikes her Impression.

Madiquel is both sad and excited when the Weyr splits, with dragonriders and Weyrfolk alike moving to populate Fort and Ista. She's proud that the dragonrider population has reached such a state that it can spread out, but sad to see some of those she knew move to a new location. Once again, she remains with her father, and does her best to help out in the creche where she is still spending a lot of her time, despite her twelve Turns. She currently plans to assist the women there with the young weyrbrats, rather than take on more mundane tasks such as cooking or sewing.

Weyrlinghood
Like her clutchmates, Zezeth escaped from her egg malnourished, and ridiculously skinny. With her head too big, her body too bony, and her energy non-existent that first day, Zezeth was assumed dead for far too long.

As her health improves, and her hide follows suit, Zezeth goes from a sickly yellow-green to a beautiful olive green. Zezeth's legs are a hint darker than the rest of her body, and if one really looks, there are hints of paler green mixing with the deeper green, marbled together.
Zezeth
Adulthood
Zezeth grows into a delicate dragon; she loses the horrifying appearance of being underweight, but retains the delicate, incredibly fragile build; Zezeth looks like a strong wind will break her in half, and it probably wouldn't be far off. All of Zezeth's growth went into her height and length, her wingspan, and didn't leave a lot left for bone growth. She's light, and delicate. Her bones are smaller and break easily, as will likely be discovered as she grows. She will never be able to fight Threadfall, and she will quickly learn to hunt smaller prey, as her first tangle with a full grown beast will be a terrible experience for her, and her friends.
Mindvoice
Zezeth rarely speaks, even to Madiquel; she prefers to communicate through emotions and physical expressions, as well as occasionally images. When Zezeth does speak, she has a very low, rumbling and gravelly voice. It's in the deep registers, and soft and soothing to listen to - a kind of calm like waves breaking on the shore before a long awaited storm.
Personality
Zezeth is a sassy dragon with an amusing sense of humour, and a deep desire to learn everything about the world around her. She enjoys listening to others speak - human, dragon, it doesn't much matter - and she loves spending time just curled up in the sun and watching the clouds float by in the sky.

Dedicated, Zezeth can also be very stubborn and disinclined to take 'no' for an answer. There is no obstacle she cannot overcome somehow, and her health is something she scoffs at - not in a dismissive way that implies she has no respect for her personal limits, but rather in a way that it is part of the challenge, not a reason to quit before she has even tried.

Resignation is something Zezeth is not immune to. Mostly she feels this in regards to Madiquel and the girl's constant vigilance when it comes to Zezeth, especially when Zezeth was an infant and Madiquel wouldn't even sleep for fear of Zezeth suddenly up and dying. As if she'd just up and die. Really!

Intelligent, almost to a fault, Zezeth enjoys puzzles and being smarter than her brothers. Which she is quite sure she is, thank you very much. She isn't afraid to pit her mind against anyone who challenges her, for while her body cannot be guaranteed to hold up, Zezeth's mind has never let her down, and it gives her a haughty arrogance not often seen in greens. The fact that Madiquel is an intelligent human and they can - together - puzzle out better answers to even more difficult questions just makes Zezeth that much more smug.

Zezeth is a fiercely protective dragon of her rider. It didn't take her long to see the innocence in Madiquel was something everyone saw, and that everyone wanted to protect. Zezeth sees no reason to let her beautiful, innocent human become something like - gasp - Sh'ran. That hussy! Not that she thinks there is anything wrong with it, perse (if only because Sh'ran's woes cause Dyoricath to have meltdowns and that amuses Zezeth to no end) but she isn't exactly in any rush to force Madiquel to 'grow up'. If she were to be frank, Zezeth's own infrequent sexual urges are as much of a relief to her, as they are to the world of horrified friends of Madiquel's; there is just something not right about the thought of Madiquel being wild with flight lust...
Quirks
Staring. Zezeth stares. A lot. She is a watchful, quiet dragon that takes in the world around her with a curious and often slightly discomforting stare.
