2023/08/04 Hello loves! While I haven't been writing, I have been working on updating some issues that have been hanging around on the layout! The Character change box is now at the bottom of the page, beside the up/down arrows! Green and Gold dragon flight dates have been shifted to the bottom of the page, where the (useless!) discord widget was located. Where the dragon flights were in the header, is now replaced by a Monthly Event box! This will be updated at the start of each month, with a fun mini-event you can take part in, if you want to! Thistle!

Malvayth let out a happy chirp as she lifted off the ledge, spiraling up into the sky as Cazan held onto the straps with a vicelike grip until the gold levelled out with a few strong beats of her wings. Was that really necessary? Cazan did her best to not think grumpy nauseous thoughts and to look like everything was completely fine on her end. Yes, because it's a fun way to get high. I'll be more careful next time though to not shake up the eggs in your belly. Need to make sure they're safe until you clutch. Cazan did not want to mention for what was probably the millionth time that human pregnancies were different and that was not at all how things worked, so instead she just nodded and gave T'ryn a wave to try and reassure him everything was fine.

And everything was fine for quite a while, other than the sheer length of the trip. Mal was encouraged to fly straight and steadily but would occasionally veer slightly to a side to better catch a draft that would let her glide even more smoothly for the sake of her rider. It had been over a year since Cazan had ridden a horse, and while she'd ridden on Mal's back on the ground and in the air it had been a few months since she'd done any regular riding. And certainly never for this long. And never while this pregnant.

Cazan kept reassuring the gold that she was fine though whenever she was relayed concerned messages from T'ryn or K'dar checking up on them. It wasn't until they landed down at their first campsite for the night that she started to grumpily curse, tottering about on wobbly legs as Malvayth watched her with concern. I tried to keep the ride gentle. "I'm fine. I'm just... I was already sore and I don't think I realized how much sore I was getting until after I got off. You're fine, Mal. Go have fun with your entourage." The gold stared at her for a moment before she finally chirped, OH! My pretty bronzes! "Yes. Go on and relax. I'm going to go find T'ryn and ask him why he thought putting a baby in me was a good idea."

Once Cazan had waddled away, Mal stretched her wings and took back off for another quick burst of flying, twisting and turning for fun and to show off for all the pretty boys who had made the trip with her. She kept the display short though, with the light growing dim, and soon found herself back on the ground. After making sure her rider was safely in the care of her mate and the fire lizards, Malvayth stretched out to lounge and mingle, chattering happily away about how much fun it was to fly and how this was clearly the best adventure.

She does look so lovely up in the sky. Tiberuth kept to the ground as he watched the gold take her lap about the sky over the campsite. What, you're not going to try and show off too? K'dar asked as he grabbed his fishing pole and made his way to the creek they'd camped by. No, if I'm going to show off I want more time to make it worthwhile. Perhaps after we've gotten home. K'dar cast out into the water and stifled a small chuckle. I'm surprised you're still interested after she tagged you. She seems to have forgotten she was upset with me and that suits me fine. Just make sure you don't ruin the next time I give chase.

K'dar rolled his eyes, turning his attention back to his fishing. They'd brought supplies and enough food to last them, but if he could catch enough for dinner then that was just more food they could save for later, or more smoked fish for him to snack on or bring back to friends. He glanced over to where Cazan was settling down with T'ryn and realized the goldrider was moving a bit gingerly. Hopefully she and the baby were fine.

After he'd managed to catch a few fish (such a good fishing spot, he would have to remember to come back later), K'dar made his way to go check on the pair. "Hey, everything okay? Will we be going for the same distance tomorrow or..." his voice faded as Cazan shot him a withering glare. "You know I think the next camping spot is actually closer than this one was."

Tiberuth tilted his head curiously, shorter flights between stops would mean a longer trip, but that was more opportunity to try and make sure he was properly on Malvayth's good side. He waited until she'd settled down after her flight and was happily babbling before he curled up near enough that he could brush a tail against her. You handled the trip really well. Such a fantastic flyer. A bit of flattery couldn't hurt.

T’ryn gratefully dropped down to the ground and gave a large strength before quickly moving to remove the straps from Syrendryth. “You did good, boy. That was some solid flying and you deserve a rest. Remember, we’re keeping a low… profile…” T’ryn sighed as he saw Malvayth jump right back into the air. It was unlikely there were others around but there was still a chance a group were out hunting or travelling as well. He didn’t want to attract attention if they could avoid it. He also wasn’t even sure where Malvayth was getting all of that energy from after Flying all day.

“Go find a meal if you need it and rest. Another big day tomorrow.” T’ryn continued, giving Syrendryth an affectionate pat to the side before the bronze ambled off to stretch and relax for a bit. T’ryn laid out the straps to let them dry before running some maintenance and checks on them and smiled when he saw Cazan approach.

“Hey, so how many of your ‘I’m fine’ replies today were lies?” He asked as he pulled her into a gentle hug. He was feeling a bit stiff so he could only imagine how much worse it was for Cazan and took her hand in his to walk around a bit to loosen up. “Just one more time I want to point out I didn’t know half the Weyr was coming with us.” When N’mor had mentioned interest in the journey only two days ago, T’ryn couldn’t turn him away. They were practically brothers and N’mor had expressed an interest in getting to know Cazan better. He hadn’t known at the time that K’dar had decided more bronzes for the small travel party was needed and added in two more. That was a surprise when they all popped into Fort that morning to escort.

After the short walk, T’ryn led Cazan over to a tree so they could settle down under it and relax for a bit. The ground was cold and a fire would be nice but he’d let one of the others worry about that. He had his mate to check in with first and they fell into an easy conversation, discussing some of the sights they had seen that day until K’dar came over.

T’ryn smiled when he saw the fish. Of course K’dar had instantly gone fishing--that was one of the only things he seemed interested in when it came to down time. But his concern about Cazan wasn’t needed and T’ryn shot K’dar a warning look that he better back out of that line of thought before the pregnant woman raged at him. “The current plan should be fine still,” he agreed and once K’dar went off to prep the fish, T’ryn lowered his voice for Cazan only. “But promise me you will tell me if you at least need more breaks. Please? I’ll take the blame for them. Tiny bladder. Need constant stops.” He grinned and kissed her cheek.

N’mor slid from Rhezalth, landing with a grunt and then leaning back against the leg of his dragon, rubbing his hand over his face. His butt hurt from being dragon-back for so many hours, and his knees felt slightly like jelly, which was uncomfortable. N’mor brushed his hair back from his eyes and yawned. Damn it had been a day, and N’mor was more than ready to set up his tent and get some rest.

Pushing off from Rhezalth’s leg, N’mor turned and began to undo the special clasps that held his dragon’s straps on, removing them from the big bronze who stretched out and shook himself. N’mor took the straps, and the luggage Rhezalth had been carrying, and found himself a nice spot to flop down, setting the bags to one side and leaning back against the trunk of a solid tree, the branches were well and truly high up, and with the sun setting, he was in the warm ray of light before it would eventually vanish.

N’mor watched his companions quietly for several minutes, T’ryn and Cazan not far away and settled under their own tree, K’dar fishing, of all things, and the others milling around. When K’dar went over to the couple to show off his catch, N’mor hauled himself to his feet and brushed off his arse as he wandered over to the little group, and gave T’ryn’s feet a kick with one of his own. “C’mon,” he said easily, hand in his pocket. “We better set up the tents before we run out of light entirely.” The sun was almost entirely set, which meant light would be running out pretty soon.

“And get a fire up, so we can cook those fish.” He nodded at K’dar.

"All of them and none of them and why did you have to do this to me?" Cazan grumbled before flinging herself against T'ryn in a tight hug. She considered trying to object to the walk but knew it would do her good to stretch out and get moving again, and she had been sitting for so very, very long and with nothing to do except hold tight and not fall off. She took a look at the gaggle of bronzes that were accompanying them, watching as Malvayth soaked in the attention (though Cazan wasn't sure if any of the dragons were actually trying to flirt with her or if Mal was just happily babbling and imagining that's what was going on). "Well, at least Mal seems happy enough for the company."

By the end of the walk she was grateful for the chance to sit again, though she curled her legs under her so that she could mostly lean against her mate. Maybe she would try to pad her seat in the morning, or at least try to adjust so that she could change how she was sitting on occasion to make the long ride more comfortable. Her thoughts were interrupted by K'dar and she could feel herself tensing up, ready to snap at him. But luckily T'ryn managed to handle him well enough, and he retreated to go handle the fire when N'mor showed up. Though now she wanted to just glare at him for trying to take T'ryn away to do silly camping things.

Except it wasn't silly, Cazan reminded herself. They didn't want to freeze in the night after all. She gave her mate another squeeze before relenting, "Fine, go and get the tents handled. I'll probably get up in a moment to help." Or would she? Her hands were already drumming on her knee and as nice as it sounded to relax she knew she couldn't. Not after sitting on a dragon for hours without being able to do anything else.

So while everyone else busied themselves with setting up camp and making sure the dragons were comfortable, Cazan slowly got up and plodded about, grabbing her own things before going to help K'dar tend to the fire and cook the fish. At least cooking while camping seemed easy enough, hold the fish not too close but not too far from the fire. Another glare made sure that he didn't try to fuss too much over her and instead focused on cooking some of the other food they'd brought along as well to make sure everyone was fed.

Malvayth, meanwhile, was having the grandest time, basking in Tiberuth's praise of her flying, chattering away with the other bronzes as well (except for grumpy Syrendryth) and ultimately declaring them all (even grumpy Syrendryth) excellent escorts. She even thought the oldest of the bronze escorts was absolutely adorable with how small he was in comparison, declaring that he was perhaps the cutest because of it.

With the food finished, the fire roaring, and the tents finished enough that T'ryn had returned to her, Cazan leaned back against him for comfort and additional warmth. "I'm fine," she stubbornly said. "This is great. We should do it again sometime..." she smirked, realizing that while she was trying to be sarcastic there was something nice to camping and despite the hormones, the soreness, and the grumpiness she was actually rather thrilled with how things were going. And at the end she'd be home with T'ryn. She shook her head smiling as she more seriously added, "But maybe we can wait until I'm less pregnant."
