Ista is heating up swiftly, and preparing for a rough summer - hopefully nothing like the one from a couple turns before with the wildfires! The rest of Northern Pern is warming upsomewhat slower, but with no less gusto as summer begins to creep into the sky, keeping the sun awake longer, warming the ledges of the weyrs. Rainstorms are sporadic, but keep the world well watered, despite the heat of the days.

The Red Star can be seen by those who choose to see it, causing no shortage of whispers that Thread will return - and just as much dismissal from those who do not believe. After all, it's been so long, surely it is no longer a threat! Weyrleaders are, regardless, beginning to put together wings in their Weyrs, if only to keep troublesome and bored riders busy.

Month 12, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Winter -3 - 2 C | 26 - 35 F
Fort is already home to snowfalls, though early in the month they fade away when the sun rises. As the month progresses, more snow stays on the ground, ending up with several feet of snow before the month is over. The areas around homes and populations has the snow shoveled away or trodden down. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove some danger and are routinely removed.

Ista Boundaries:
Winter, 9 - 21 C | 48 - 69 F
Generally warm enough to go about without a jacket on, Ista has low humidity but high chance of rain, generally in the form of vicious afternoon thunderstorms. The storms wash away any bite of heat the day had, and leave it feeling fresh for the night. The days are short, but grow bright quickly and the afternoons seem to be particularly short when heavy thunderstorms roll in and cover the sky.

Telgar Boundaries:
Winter, -5 - 0 C | 23 - 32 F
Bitterly cold, with icy winds constantly flowing down from the mountains. Freezing rain is almost constant; the sky always a murky grey and the ground slippery with slushy refrozen ice. The days are extremely short, with the nights dropping a good number below the daily average. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove a major danger, and are checked upon every day, with anything bigger than a fist being removed.

Month 07, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Summer 27 - 38 C | 80 - 100 F
Light breezes down from the mountains tot he North keep the temperature comfortable, even when the sun can bake an egg on the edge of a weyr. Sunburn is common.

Ista Boundaries:
Summer, 34 - 43 C | 93 - 110 F
A very dry, dusty heat. Little to no rain, causing more than some to worry about the drought not breaking and the rest of the Isle being at risk of fires. Many seek the depths of weyr, hold or hall during the midday and early afternoon heat.

Telgar Boundaries:
Summer, 26 - 35 C | 79 - 95 F
Muggy, sticky and generally just plain humid. Thunder storms are regular occurances, often happening in the early afternoon or evening, with heavy rainfall before drying off sometime in the night. Mornings are usually crisp, but warm up swiftly.

Month 04, 740 AL
North: Early Spring | South: Early Autumn
−1.9 C to 4.7 C | 20.0 C to 29.0

Spring has sprung, with the snow slowly melting in much of the North, creating mushy grounds and greyish, icy snow piles that are doing their best to melt. In comparison, Ista finds itself naturally warmer, (~10C / 50) and many people who can find rides are making their way to the Island to spend some time in warmth and sunshine, away from the lingering touch of winter.

Katila is beginning to cool down to more reasonable temperature, but is no less muggy and uncomfortable to those who are not used to the seasons. It is still a good place to escape to when seeking a warm day or a nice swim at the lake, though.

The Red Star can be seen by those who choose to see it, causing no shortage of whispers that Thread will return - and just as much dismissal from those who do not believe. Winter has come slowly to the Northern lands of Pern, with more rain and cold winds than snow. As the month progresses, more and more snow will fall, with frequent blizzard-like storms towards the very end of the month. Telgar and Fort will in particular become burried under mountains of snow, while Ista is sunjected to frequent icy rainstorms, and heavy winds coming in from across the ocean.

Following the disastrous fires (sometime in around the 28th of Month 08), Ista Isle has found itself suddenly in the midst of constant rain; not enough to flood, but a steady, dreary downfall that seems to only take a time out for a couple of hours here and there, before coming back again. Its cast the entire sooty Isle into a sombre and depressed mood. Alongside the rain, the weather is muggy and while not hot, is not particularly cool, either.

The rest of Northern Pern is getting their usual weather, though they, too, have been called to action following the wildfires that savaged Ista. Many individuals who called Ista Island home have been relocated not just to Ista Weyr, Ista Hold or Sea Cliff Hold, but also to other areas of Pern, whether with family or friends.

Month 08, 739 AL

17.4 to 25.5 C | 10.8 C to 23.2 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm - 37 to 45 C - has resulted in an incredibly dry summer, with little to no rain. This was climaxed by a dry thunderstorm, the results of which caused three fires to start across the Island on the 24.07.739 in the early morning hours. While the results of this are yet to be played out, the events will no doubt leave more than just the scarring of the land.

18.0 to 26.6 C | 10.2 C to 21.9 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm, with average weather being in the 37 to 45 C range, making it now a more than slightly undesirable escape for the rest of the Northern population from the more enjoyable early summer weather. There has been very little in the way of rain, though the coastal areas are no stranger to the salty wind. Ista's limited farmlands and fields are dry and dusty, with golden straw instead of grass where there is any growth at all.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Northern areas are still getting a lot of evening rain and the occasional thunderstorms, which cools down the populus and allows them to sleep easily without sweating their brains out like the Istans.

Month 11, 738 AL
North: Late Autumn | South: Late Spring

Autumn is coming to an end, with the days slowly becoming shorter still, with early nights and late mornings. The temperature is getting very cool, with jackets being more required, but it has yet to actually snow. Despite this, it is often raining and miserable.

The Southern contient is in full bloom, with flowers coming to life in the grasses and on the trees. The skies are bright blue with fluffy clouds, and occassional sunshowers bringing a dampness to the day. The nights are still crisp, but not cold. The ground is starting to dry up as water is absorbed by the blooming flora.

Month 10, 738 AL
North: Mid Autumn | South: Mid Spring

Autumn is in full tilt, with the leaves a shocking array of orange and red, and more of them on the ground than on the trees. The skies are often a clear and crisp blue, with a cool breeze flowing, shifting the leaves and sending them scattering. Rain is not common, but when it does roll in the skies are dark like night come early, and thunderstorms are not uncommon, though they don't last for long and the amount of rain that falls isn't too heavy.

Month 09, 738 AL
North: Start Autumn | South: Start Spring

Nothern regions are entering into Autumn, with the trees beginning to change to their reds and oranges, while the air is beginning to feel more crips. There are still more warm days than cool, and the nights are mostly warm enough for light bedding still. Rain has faded away and most days are clear and bright.

The Southern contient finds itself heading into spring, with rain and flowers vying for attention. The ground is often muddy and squishy, while the skies are either bright and blue, or overcast wtih fluffy clouds.

Month 08, 738 AL
North: End Summer | South: End Winter

Summer is winding to an end in the Northern hemisphere, with the weather slowly cooling and the trees beginning to turn their leaves. The days are still long and bright, but the sun is beginning to lose some of its strength.

The coastal Weyrs are falling victim to coastal storms, strong winds and heavy rains with thunder and lightening.

The more inbound Weyrs and Holds find themselves drier, not getting nearly as much rain or storms, they find themselves on the end of a long drought.

Month 07, 738 AL
North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter

Summer is in full spring in the Nothern hemisphere, with the bulk of each day being unbearbly hot, followed by vicious thunderstorms and heavy humidity in the evenings and at night.

The coastal areas are experiencing monsoon like weather, and spend a lot of their time locked away in Hold, Hall or Weyr.

The more inner locations find themselves faced with more dry heat during the day, and horrible humidity in the evening and at night while the thunderstorms rage.

They’re home, Larrikith told B’jin quietly, before greeting Ayyonth with a croon and a nuzzle against his neck. She sat back so R’nd could remove the riding straps, and then curled up snugly against her mate with another soft croon of satisfaction. The blue pair had been gone for most of the evening, and Larrikith had been put on watch for when they returned so she could alert B’jin. Which she had done, and which resulted in the man coming bouncing out of the weyr proper, and throw himself at R’nd with a bright smile.

“I have a surprise for you,” B’jin said mysteriously, leaning up to press a warm kiss to R’nd’s lips, nipping softly as he pulled away. For once, his breath wasn’t rich with the smell of alcohol, and his eyes were bright and clear as he grinned impishly. He’d been too busy to drink, and he trembled with excitement as R’nd finished putting away Ayyonth’s straps and came back. B’jin took both his hands, and squeezed them. “Close your eyes, and no peeking!”

Once R’nd had complied, and B’jin was content that his mate wasn’t peeking, he walked backwards, leading R’nd by both hands into their weyr. His breathing was shallow and full of excitement, biting his bottom lip as he turned to glance around the weyr one more time, making sure everything was just right – it was – before turning back to R’nd and leading him a little further, before gently forcing him to stop. “Okay,” he whispered, sliding his arms around R’nd’s waist and leaning in and flush against the bluerider, nuzzling at his neck. “You can open your eyes.”

B’jin had been busy since R’nd had told him he’d be away for most the day. The greenrider had cleaned their already tidy weyr, making sure it was immaculate before he sought out every lightstone they had, and carefully set them all around the weyr, filling it with soft warm light. It was lit further by a low burning fire, and an assortment of candles placed strategically around the weyr (B’jin had moved them and moved them again multiple times before he was happy with the way they looked). Like everything else B’jin collected, the candles were scented with lavender, but there were some vanilla thrown in as well.

Before the fire, B’jin had set out a pile of their blankets, spread out with a quilt on top to make a warm and inviting fireside bed. There was a bottle of frosted Benden wine on the far side, with two glasses beside it but the bottle was unopened and – shockingly – opening it wasn’t at the top of B’jin’s todo list as he peered up at R’nd adoringly, watching him take in the scene. He leaned up again, and pressed a warm and lingering kiss to R’nd’s cheek. “I love you,” he said softly but firmly, hugging R’nd tightly for a few seconds before loosening his grip. It had been a while since he’d done something to show R’nd how much he meant to him. Especially after their last fight and B’jin’s misunderstanding of everything and making a mess.

It was belated, but R’nd hadn’t given B’jin a lot of time to work on his surprise before that day.

R'nd did as he was told and closed his eyes so B'jin could lead him inside. A part of him worried, wondering what his mate had gotten up to. It didn't seem like it would be anything bad given the excitement B'jin was barely keeping contained. But that didn't mean there wouldn't be something one of them loved and the other was left confused over.

Oh no. Had B'jin adopted a kid from the creche? B'jin had been thrilled by T'ryn's announcement his mate was pregnant--R'nd had blanked out for a few minutes and couldn't recall what happened next as he processed becoming a grandfather. But B'jin wouldn't do that, right? No doubt they could take his...grandchild... sometimes when the greenrider wanted a baby around.

He waited a heartbeat or two before obeying the order to open his eyes, preparing himself. To his relief, R'nd didn't see a child anywhere but found a rather romantic set up. It still made him suspicious that B'jin wanted to ask him something huge but he shoved that aside to just enjoy the moment. "I love you, too." The words came a lot easier now--which he supposed they should as they had been together for over a decade.

"You didn't need to do all of this," R'nd kissed B'jin's forehead before taking his hand and leading him over to the blankets. "Though it's appreciated."

“Of course I didn’t,” B’jin said, clearly amused as he wove his fingers between R’nd’s and followed him placidly over to the blankets. “That’s supposed to be part of making it special.” He grinned, kicking off his shoes and dropping to the middle of the blankets, sitting cross legged for a moment while R’nd settled himself, and then practically climbed into the bluerider’s lap so he could cuddle up against him. He hummed to himself, nuzzling against R’nd’s neck again, dropping soft kisses above the collar of his jacket. “You smell so good,” he purred, stroking one hand down R’nd’s chest. He sighed contentedly.

“Did you have a good day?” B’jin asked, voice soft and attention focused on unhooking the clasps of R’nd’s jacket. It was much too warm in their weyr to keep it on, of course, so he had to help make sure his mate was comfortable. Absolutely no other motivation there at all! B’jin’s lips twitched, but he busied them with kissing his mate’s neck again as he gently pushed the jacket off R’nd’s shoulders once he’d won the battle against the clasps. B’jin’s nibbling lips then travelled up to nip at R’nd’s earlobe, while one hand tugged his shirt free and slipped under it, splayed fingers exploring abs he knew so well. His other hand was splayed on R’nd’s thigh, helping him balance, as he listened to the answer to his question.

While he was interested in what kind of a day his mate had had, he was also invested in making sure it ended on a high. A breathy high that featured his name. The best kind of good day.

“I did,” R’nd replied and went into some of what he had gotten up to that day. He’d mostly went to visit some of his kids and then caught up with a friend he hadn’t seen for a while. It had been a full day of socialising—surprising no one—but R’nd didn’t go into too many details before he gave a laugh. “Not that you really seem too interested at the moment,” he pointed out with a laugh once a hand slipped under his shirt.

“You don’t need to go to such elaborate lengths to seduce me, B’jin,” R’nd teased as his hands busied themselves with slowly undoing buttons on B’jin’s shirt from the bottom up. It was a bit odd to be on the receiving end of such a romantic set up. Normally he would have been the one to do some over the top gesture while doing his best to make his lover feel special and desired. It didn’t bother him that it wasn’t ever done for him and now R’nd wasn’t quite sure what to do in the situation. Did B’jin have anything else in store for him? He didn’t want to say or do anything that might ruin the plan or any surprises and he almost laughed again as he realised how much stress he may have accidentally put past lovers in with his gestures.

“Spoil me too much and I may want this all the time,” R’nd’s eyes danced with the merriment he was feeling before finally being able to catch B’jin’s mouth with his own. All the little nips and kisses were nice but he wanted that mouth locked with his to properly show his gratitude and love. They were both skilled with words yet when it came to each other, sometimes they failed or they were never enough. Actions worked better.

“I’m always interested in what you get up to,” B’jin pouted lightly, when the kiss had broken and he had a chance to relay back to R’nd’s explaining what his day had been filled with. That wasn’t to say his fingers weren’t busy taking in every inch of R’nd’s torso, however. He loved the feel of R’nd’s skin under his hands; and of R’nd’s hands on his own skin – B’jin shrugged out of his shirt once his wonderful bluerider had finished unbuttoning it, reluctantly withdrawing his hands from R’nd to be rid of the shirt.

“I just want to make sure it’s a day I can top,” B’jin said, then paused. “Figuratively speaking,” he added playfully, brown eyes bright with amusement. He had no desire to top, thank you very much; never had and probably never would. The very idea gave him anxiety, so he didn’t linger on it, and instead shifted his seat so his legs were either side of R’nd’s hips, and he leaned backwards, gently pulling R’nd down with him as he fell to his back. His breath puffed out in a soft giggle.

“You’re worth spoiling,” B’jin said softly, reaching up to wrap his arms around R’nd’s neck and pull him closer, kissing him deeply. He wished he’d thought to do something like this years ago, the way it seemed to bring R’nd such delight delighted B’jin, and he hummed, secure under the weight of his lover in a way he hadn’t been back in the beginning. They were still half dressed, but he knew they wouldn’t be for long and wasn’t worried about rushing the evening. “I love you so much,” B’jin said softly, brushing the back of his knuckles gently down the side of R’nd’s jaw. His gaze was gentle but filled with his deep love as he closed the gap between them again, stealing R’nd’s mouth in a heated kiss.

"I love you, too," R'nd replied, finding it easier to say the words each time they wanted out. It had scared him once as he had it in his head that everyone he loved vanished from his life in one way or another--a fact B'jin had proved a few times over the years. R'nd realised years ago that he was afraid of love because he loved too deeply and the pain of loss was devastating. The last time B'jin had left and spent days with D'hys had nearly broken him and their relationship. R'nd had been close to ending it all, unable to worry if it would happen again or what he meant to the greenrider. But he'd given it one more chance and his mate seemed happier than he had been in a long while and it gave R'nd hope.

A hope that he expressed with gentle kisses as he took the lead to switch who was actually being pampered. B'jin setting up such a romantic atmosphere and showing his feelings so openly was wonderful but R'nd much preferred being the one to spoil someone. He didn't even tell people his birthday to avoid gifts and well wishes. He was happier making others feel special.

He continued with the gentle caressing, drawing out their playing while still mostly clothed. There was something about the way they moved against each other with fabric still in the way that excited the bluerider. It was like a slow burn that took its time before becoming a raging passion. That was what this night called for. Everything was set up perfectly for that build up and R'nd intended to take his time pleasuring and enjoying his mate.

B’jin murmured sleepily as he curled into R’nd’s warm body, caressing touches tinged with laziness and soft kisses. Nuzzling R’nd’s neck, B’jin rested his cheek against his mate’s shoulder, legs tangled and hand gently resting on the bluerider’s stomach. “I realised something the other day,” B’jin said softly, his voice as lazy and sated as his movements. The candles had burned down low, but the glowstones kept things lit well enough. He shifted his head, gaze lifting to look at R’nd from his comfortable perch of head on shoulder.

“Since Larnell abdicated, that means Malarid will be next, right?” B’jin didn’t really wait for R’nd to answer his question as he shifted again, folding his hands over R’nd’s shoulder and leaning up to peer down at the bluerider, eyebrows furrowed slightly and head tilted just a little to one side. “Do you think they’ll keep the betrothal between him and Amorandii?” B’jin was genuinely concerned it would be cut; after all, Amorandii was only the daughter of a dragonrider – and not even a politically influenced one. It wasn’t like B’jin was a bronzerider or even a brownrider. He was just a greenrider, and he had no illusions about what Holders tended to think of them.

While B’jin had never gotten a straight answer out of Amorandii about her opinion on the betrothal, but he knew she – at the very least – loved being a lady and a private assistant to her aunt and Lady Amarilla. The prospect that her future held her as the Lady a Hold, even a minor one, was no doubt something she would be vibrating excitedly about; to have that taken away because B’jin wasn’t a prestigious enough father was rather disheartening. The resentment his precious daughter could potentially hold against him if that happened made B’jin’s stomach feel like ice.

“She’d make an amazing Lady,” B’jin said softly, pouting slightly as he laid down once more, cuddling against R’nd with a sigh.

“You have always had a way with pillow talk,” R’nd laughed softly at the first question to come out after their lazy cuddling. But he frowned when B’jin continued, voicing his concerns that the bluerider took seriously. They hadn’t spoken of it since he returned with Larnell but it was only a matter of time. R’nd had realised instantly what Larnell’s actions meant and the trickling affect it could have on Amorandii but he didn’t know how to bring it up with B’jin to prep him, just in case. He also hadn’t had the chance to speak with his sister about it but no doubt Eridella and Malarn would need time to have that discussion as well.

“I know she would. She’s always been a little Lady and she’s growing into a wonderful adult Lady as well,” as much as it pained him to say. Amorandii wasn’t his child but he’d always been fond of her since he started spending time with B’jin. Perhaps the fact that she wasn’t his had made it easier for him to be mostly at ease around her and the fact that he could try to be a dad to the kids that came forward as his was due to her as well.

R’nd sighed and adjusted his arm as B’jin shifted again to get comfortable. “Eridella wouldn’t change the arrangement, I’m sure of that. She adores you and Amorandii. Not to mention Malarid seems fond of her as well. But it will depend on Malarn. He does have to think of his Hold and people so if there’s a strong alliance out there for him, he might try to take it.” There was a chance Larnell’s late wife had a younger sister that could reunite the families. It didn’t seem likely since Larnell hadn’t mentioned that as part of the reason for the fighting.

“Believe in my sister, love. It’s always worked for me,” R’nd stated with all the conviction of a little brother that idolized his big sister. “If she wants it to go through, then I’d put marks down on it happening.” They were a small Hold that traded in horses. Surely Amorandii wouldn’t be a hindrance to that. She also brought a connection to Telgar Hold, even if it wasn’t through blood, so that had to count for something.

B’jin gave a soft snort of amusement, and leaned up to lick R’nd’s cheek, giggling to himself as he curled back down, chewing on his tongue absently; R’nd was a little scruffy and tasted of clean sweat. B’ijn’s eyes sparkled, but his thoughts were interrupted by R’nd answering his question, and he grinned at the affirmation that Amorandii would be an excellent Lady. It was nice to know he wasn’t being completely biased, though R’nd probably wasn’t quite as impartial as he might have been ten years ago.

Chewing on his bottom lip, B’jin nodded slowly to what R’nd was saying, frowning slightly at the mention on Malarn, before his expression smoothed into fondness at the mention of Eridella. “Yes, Rell has that affect on people,” B’jin laughed softly, shaking his head, his lips quirked playfully as the blue firelizard perked up and appeared at his name, causing B’jin to smirk. “Between her and Amarilla, and Andii’s own spunk, that girl will be a powerful woman to come against.” Hopefully Malarn wouldn’t be so obnoxious as to put her aside because of that. But, like R’nd’s unspoken thought, Amorandii did have strong ties to the Lady of Telgar, which was likely to benefit the much smaller hold a lot more than any blood ties from second or third daughters.

Shifting, B’jin leaned over R’nd and peered down at him playfully, stroking his hand along R’nd’s side. “So my love,” he purred, leaning down to press a warm kiss to R’nd’s lips. “Ready for what’s next?” B’jin sucked his bottom lip between his teeth and bit it as he lifted his eyebrows at R’nd. Neither of them were important enough for their own private bathing room, but there was a public one near by that most people avoided as a rule because they’d claimed it since moving in. B’jin had stuck a note on the door just in case, anyway, but knew it would be empty by the time he had teased R’nd into streaking through the hallway. Mischievous grin broadening, B’jin leaned in to kiss R’nd again, and then climbed to his feet, tugging on R’nd’s hands to help him to his own.
