2023/08/04 Hello loves! While I haven't been writing, I have been working on updating some issues that have been hanging around on the layout! The Character change box is now at the bottom of the page, beside the up/down arrows! Green and Gold dragon flight dates have been shifted to the bottom of the page, where the (useless!) discord widget was located. Where the dragon flights were in the header, is now replaced by a Monthly Event box! This will be updated at the start of each month, with a fun mini-event you can take part in, if you want to! Thistle!

Casa slipped lightly through the hallways, nodding or greeting those that she passed, or that passed her, but didn’t linger or chat for long when she was pulled up, instead excusing herself and quickly making her way down the halls, closer to her goal. She’d put this off for far too long as it was, and now that she’d finally built up the courage to correct that, she couldn’t afford to be distracted by others. As it was, she’d already spent far too long visiting the Weyrleaders and playing proper political respect before being told to enjoy her stay. Casa snorted. She knew what they thought she was about to get up to.

Casa wished that was what she was about to get up to.

Sighing, and resisting the urge to pinch the bridge of her nose as her thoughts exploded behind her eyes, Casa lengthened her stride, her heeled boots clicking on the stone halls before becoming muffled as she turned down a new hallway, the floor covered in old rugs, the runners slightly threadbare but clean and well looked after, considering they lived their life being walked on. From there it only took a few more moments to reach the doorway of her destination. Casa paused, taking a deep breath, and ignoring her dragon.

Smiling slightly at the nameplate on his door, Casa raised her fist and knocked solidly a couple of times, then lowered her hand and stepped back once, a frown marring her features and her lips pursed as the door finally opened – not that it had been a long wait – and Casa offered a small smile. “Hey.”

It was odd living in Telgar again. He'd always thought Ista would be his permanent home after moving there for the constant warm days with his friends. But then Cazan Impressed in Fort--not that he ever thought she would have stayed forever in Ista Weyr--and N'mor moved to Benden, and of course, Syrendryth found his mate in Telgar. It seemed a simple and peaceful life wasn't meant for him no matter how hard he tried.

It wasn't that he didn't like Mulrissa and Bedith--he found them both lovely. But he didn't feel the same way about Mulrissa as his dragon felt about hers. He had quietly been hoping that Syrendryth would take a shining to Malvayth, not that T'ryn knew what his relationship with Cazan was and if it would develop into anything more than 'mouth friends'.

He found it almost comical how he had a reason to move to every Weyr and at night when he thought about those people and reasons, T'ryn started to feel like he was being pulled in four directions. But in the end he knew there was only one choice. He couldn't deny Syrendryth his happiness so moving to Telgar was the only choice.

It wasn't like he was in isolation either. Visits still took place to everyone important to him but T'ryn made sure they stayed home regularly as well so the dragons could spend time together, especially since Bedith was sandbound.

Syrendryth was down with his lady when the knock came and T'ryn frowned, not expecting company and hoping it wasn't R'nd or B'jin there to tease him again. That was a definite downside to living in Telgar and he felt like his cheeks were constantly on fire around the greenrider.

He glanced at what he was wearing and decided it was acceptable in case it was some important visitor. Mulrissa was the Weyrwoman now and while T'ryn had dodged the Weyrleader job, their dragons were mated and that often left him feeling like he was both intruding and being made to be a part of the politics he wanted nothing to do with.

Heaving a sigh and hoping for a friend at the door, T'ryn was relieved to find Casa and smiled at her. "Hey! They actually let you leave Ista sometimes?" He asked and waved her inside. He often felt bad for the goldriders but especially the Weyrwoman. They didn't seem to have quite as much freedom as everyone else since they were the only way the dragon population could continue and everyone became protective of them.

"Would you like a drink? How have you been?" Despite his many visits to Ista, Casa always seemed busy with her new job but T'ryn didn't hold it against her. He knew his friend could take things seriously when she wanted to and he didn't expect anything less from her and didn't mind the quick greetings as they passed each other. But now that she came for a visit, T'ryn was excited to catch up and check in on her.

Casa’s small smile turned into a light, genuine laugh “as if they could stop me,” she teased, shaking her head slightly and entering the weyr as he waved her in, feeling her stomach clench as her thoughts immediately turned to why she was visiting. Not that T’ryn was going to let her get right to business, it seemed, and Casa really didn’t want to have the conversation she needed to have. As such, she let him lead her down the path of Not That Topic.

“Sure,” she nodded, “nothing alcoholic,” she added, giving a twisted little smile. She wasn’t a huge drinker of alcohol to begin with, but she needed to get home to Ista within an hour or so – or whenever she finished chatting with T’ryn – and she didn’t want to have to linger at the Weyr afterwards because her head was fuzzy. She knew Thallyath could get them home without Casa supplying an image, but why take the risk?

Taking a seat on a nice, comfortable looking – and feeling! – chair, Casa kicked her boots off and curled her legs up under herself. She was in soft skin pants, and a loose shirt that was much more suitable to the weather at Ista than it was in Telgar, so she took the throw that was over the back of the chair and placed it lightly over her knees, smiling in thanks when T’ryn brought her a glass of juice. “Thank you,” she murmured, taking a sip. Oh, so nice!

“I’ve been well, if busy. I’ve barely had time to breathe, never mind enjoy living,” she smiled wryly. “I hear you dodged some Thread,” she smirked, wriggling her eyebrows up and down. It wasn’t a new topic, and she’d teased T’ryn before about being Weyrleader, but it wasn’t old yet, either, and the way he reacted told her it wouldn’t be old for a long while, either.

T'ryn groaned and his shoulders sagged as the usual teasing started up. He knew his reactions were what made people continue to pick on him but he couldn't help it as he had no desire to lead in that capacity and the idea horrified him. Casa had brought it up as a joke when she got her own promotion and several others had since teased him once he announced Syrendryth and Bedith were mates. He knew it was all in good fun and it didn't anger him but he really wanted to stop thinking about how close that possibility came to being a reality. "Thank goodness Flights don't dictate leadership anymore," he grumbled before sipping at his own juice. He was doubly thankful for that fact knowing N'mor's dream was to be a Weyrleader and T'ryn was certain his friend was a bit miffed and maybe even jealous so lingering on anything to do with that added to his own discomfort.

Thinking on Flights and leadership led him to the goldrider in his living room. When had Thallyath last Flown? Must have been about eighteen months ago and T'ryn wondered if she would Fly any day now or still be a while yet. It wasn't unheard of for golds to have longer cycles from what he knew about history and heard from older bronzeriders but the golds born since the plague seemed to stick with a year or less for their cycles. Given Thallyath's first clutch, maybe the gold would never Rise again. That was a depressing thought and stayed T'ryn's tongue from asking Casa anything about it. No need to worry her or add to it if she had already had similar thoughts.

"Are you staying in Telgar for long? We could head down for some lunch in a bit or I could ask for something to be brought up if you want to hide out a while longer and catch up." As soon as he said it, T'ryn realised that offer could come off as an invitation to find their way to his bed. While he wasn't opposed to the idea, it wasn't what he had in mind. He had always enjoyed talking with Casa and wanted to be selfish for a moment and steal as much time as he could for that.
