Month 12, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Winter -3 - 2 C | 26 - 35 F
Fort is already home to snowfalls, though early in the month they fade away when the sun rises. As the month progresses, more snow stays on the ground, ending up with several feet of snow before the month is over. The areas around homes and populations has the snow shoveled away or trodden down. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove some danger and are routinely removed.

Ista Boundaries:
Winter, 9 - 21 C | 48 - 69 F
Generally warm enough to go about without a jacket on, Ista has low humidity but high chance of rain, generally in the form of vicious afternoon thunderstorms. The storms wash away any bite of heat the day had, and leave it feeling fresh for the night. The days are short, but grow bright quickly and the afternoons seem to be particularly short when heavy thunderstorms roll in and cover the sky.

Telgar Boundaries:
Winter, -5 - 0 C | 23 - 32 F
Bitterly cold, with icy winds constantly flowing down from the mountains. Freezing rain is almost constant; the sky always a murky grey and the ground slippery with slushy refrozen ice. The days are extremely short, with the nights dropping a good number below the daily average. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove a major danger, and are checked upon every day, with anything bigger than a fist being removed.

Month 07, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Summer 27 - 38 C | 80 - 100 F
Light breezes down from the mountains tot he North keep the temperature comfortable, even when the sun can bake an egg on the edge of a weyr. Sunburn is common.

Ista Boundaries:
Summer, 34 - 43 C | 93 - 110 F
A very dry, dusty heat. Little to no rain, causing more than some to worry about the drought not breaking and the rest of the Isle being at risk of fires. Many seek the depths of weyr, hold or hall during the midday and early afternoon heat.

Telgar Boundaries:
Summer, 26 - 35 C | 79 - 95 F
Muggy, sticky and generally just plain humid. Thunder storms are regular occurances, often happening in the early afternoon or evening, with heavy rainfall before drying off sometime in the night. Mornings are usually crisp, but warm up swiftly.

[[Update slowly in progress because ThistleProse is a slackarse :3 lmao ]]

Month 04, 740 AL
North: Early Spring | South: Early Autumn
−1.9 C to 4.7 C | 20.0 C to 29.0

Spring has sprung, with the snow slowly melting in much of the North, creating mushy grounds and greyish, icy snow piles that are doing their best to melt. In comparison, Ista finds itself naturally warmer, (~10C / 50) and many people who can find rides are making their way to the Island to spend some time in warmth and sunshine, away from the lingering touch of winter.

Katila is beginning to cool down to more reasonable temperature, but is no less muggy and uncomfortable to those who are not used to the seasons. It is still a good place to escape to when seeking a warm day or a nice swim at the lake, though.

The Red Star can be seen by those who choose to see it, causing no shortage of whispers that Thread will return - and just as much dismissal from those who do not believe. After all, it's been so long, surely it is no longer a threat! Weyrleaders are, regardless, beginning to put together wings in their Weyrs, if only to keep troublesome and bored riders busy.

Month 03, 740 AL

Month 12, 739 AL
North: Early Winter| South: Early Summer
-3.1 to 2.1 C | 20.4 C to 29.4 C

Winter has come slowly to the Northern lands of Pern, with more rain and cold winds than snow. As the month progresses, more and more snow will fall, with frequent blizzard-like storms towards the very end of the month. Telgar and Fort will in particular become burried under mountains of snow, while Ista is sunjected to frequent icy rainstorms, and heavy winds coming in from across the ocean.

13.4 to 21.0 C | 13.8 C to 25.6 C

Following the disastrous fires (sometime in around the 28th of Month 08), Ista Isle has found itself suddenly in the midst of constant rain; not enough to flood, but a steady, dreary downfall that seems to only take a time out for a couple of hours here and there, before coming back again. Its cast the entire sooty Isle into a sombre and depressed mood. Alongside the rain, the weather is muggy and while not hot, is not particularly cool, either.

The rest of Northern Pern is getting their usual weather, though they, too, have been called to action following the wildfires that savaged Ista. Many individuals who called Ista Island home have been relocated not just to Ista Weyr, Ista Hold or Sea Cliff Hold, but also to other areas of Pern, whether with family or friends.

Month 08, 739 AL
North: Late Summer | South: Late Winter
17.4 to 25.5 C | 10.8 C to 23.2 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm - 37 to 45 C - has resulted in an incredibly dry summer, with little to no rain. This was climaxed by a dry thunderstorm, the results of which caused three fires to start across the Island on the 24.07.739 in the early morning hours. While the results of this are yet to be played out, the events will no doubt leave more than just the scarring of the land.

Month 07, 739 AL
North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter
18.0 to 26.6 C | 10.2 C to 21.9 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm, with average weather being in the 37 to 45 C range, making it now a more than slightly undesirable escape for the rest of the Northern population from the more enjoyable early summer weather. There has been very little in the way of rain, though the coastal areas are no stranger to the salty wind. Ista's limited farmlands and fields are dry and dusty, with golden straw instead of grass where there is any growth at all.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Northern areas are still getting a lot of evening rain and the occasional thunderstorms, which cools down the populus and allows them to sleep easily without sweating their brains out like the Istans.

There has been very little in the way of rain, though the coastal areas are no stranger to the salty wind.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Northern areas are getting a lot of rain, thunderstorms, and cloudy days. Grass is growing, flowers flowering, and baby animals popping up all over the place! Yay spring!

Spring has sprung, with the snow slowly melting in much of the North, creating mushy grounds and greyish, icy snow piles that are doing their best to melt. Month 11, 738 AL
North: Late Autumn | South: Late Spring

Autumn is coming to an end, with the days slowly becoming shorter still, with early nights and late mornings. The temperature is getting very cool, with jackets being more required, but it has yet to actually snow. Despite this, it is often raining and miserable.

The Southern contient is in full bloom, with flowers coming to life in the grasses and on the trees. The skies are bright blue with fluffy clouds, and occassional sunshowers bringing a dampness to the day. The nights are still crisp, but not cold. The ground is starting to dry up as water is absorbed by the blooming flora.

Month 10, 738 AL
North: Mid Autumn | South: Mid Spring

Autumn is in full tilt, with the leaves a shocking array of orange and red, and more of them on the ground than on the trees. The skies are often a clear and crisp blue, with a cool breeze flowing, shifting the leaves and sending them scattering. Rain is not common, but when it does roll in the skies are dark like night come early, and thunderstorms are not uncommon, though they don't last for long and the amount of rain that falls isn't too heavy.

Month 09, 738 AL
North: Start Autumn | South: Start Spring

Nothern regions are entering into Autumn, with the trees beginning to change to their reds and oranges, while the air is beginning to feel more crips. There are still more warm days than cool, and the nights are mostly warm enough for light bedding still. Rain has faded away and most days are clear and bright.

The Southern contient finds itself heading into spring, with rain and flowers vying for attention. The ground is often muddy and squishy, while the skies are either bright and blue, or overcast wtih fluffy clouds.

Month 08, 738 AL
North: End Summer | South: End Winter

Summer is winding to an end in the Northern hemisphere, with the weather slowly cooling and the trees beginning to turn their leaves. The days are still long and bright, but the sun is beginning to lose some of its strength.

The coastal Weyrs are falling victim to coastal storms, strong winds and heavy rains with thunder and lightening.

The more inbound Weyrs and Holds find themselves drier, not getting nearly as much rain or storms, they find themselves on the end of a long drought.

Month 07, 738 AL
North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter

Summer is in full spring in the Nothern hemisphere, with the bulk of each day being unbearbly hot, followed by vicious thunderstorms and heavy humidity in the evenings and at night.

The coastal areas are experiencing monsoon like weather, and spend a lot of their time locked away in Hold, Hall or Weyr.

The more inner locations find themselves faced with more dry heat during the day, and horrible humidity in the evening and at night while the thunderstorms rage.

ITS AN UPDATE! HOORAH!

I'm not dead, my loves! This month's Event is 'Close Call!' - have fun! Stamps will be uploaded and on display in our Discord chatroom.

There is a topic here for discussion about Pernese religions and belief systems, including in and out of Weyr opinions (variably and as a whole) in regards to delicate matters, such as birth, death, and the afterlife. Also, ghosts anyone? Now I'm imagining a giant arse dragon ghost....

Healer Hall is accepting Gold Candidates (just from Fort, for now) and R'nya will soon be discussing with his Weyrwoman Rhaedalyn the merits of bringing in additional female candidates.... on the condition they are approved for Healer Apprenticeship...

Thallyath, Casa's little gold dragon, will be taking to the skies for her maiden flight in the first week of April (IC date will be 740-04-01) and while a mate is already decided, this clutch will be PC and more candidates are ALWAYS welcome, whether you want them to Impress this round --- or not!

September 2018

Spring is here! ... In Australia, anyway!

This month’s riveting event is ‘Seas of Fun’, in honour of International Pirate’s Day! After all the drama with the fires, we expect that taking to the sea (or lake, river, pond, etc) would be a very relaxing way to spend some downtime for many dragonriders and Holderfolk alike!

In preparation for October, the even is “Memories of the Past”, which we hope will be a fun way to explore your character’s past, either in solo posts or threads, as inner monolog or as back posting! How you choose to partake is entirely up to you!

October will also see our next PC HATCHING! In order to have your Candidate qualify for Impression, they must have no less than 20 posts! There are lots of characters floating around who would be more than happy to help your Candidate breech that count! Don’t forget to also UPDATE YOUR APPLICATIONS where applicable, or make sure it is submitted at all! We can’t Impress your character if we don’t know what they should be getting!

As always, be sure to submit your threads to the IC RP Timeline submission thread, so they can be added to the list! While you’re at it, remember to submit your favourite quotes – from your character’s or others! – to the Quote Submission Thread! We want to see some recent quotes thrown in with our old ones!

If you haven't already, please drop by the Dragonrider Weyr Allocations thread, and let us know where your dragonriders call home. We are hoping to set up Wings across the three PC Weyrs over the next month or so, and your assistance is much appreciated! As a result, we will be looking for Wingleaders, Wingseconds, and of course Candidates for the clutches we have scheduled for this year!

August 2018

ITS AUGUST! Do you know what that means? It means its less than 4 months until Christmas! OMG.

Okay. So moving on! This month sees us (hopefully) wrapping up the Camp Kink event! Who doesn’t love an abundance of young adults exploring their sexuality without restraint? Its been a hell of a fun ride (haha get it?) so far! Can’t wait to see what the grapevine makes of it when words gets out … haha!

On a more serious note, this month will see us engaging in the Istan Wildfires! This event is a free for all! Feel free to have your characters interact with the event in any way you feel is suitable! There is a lot of room here for personal dramas, trouble making, hero worshiping, etcetera! We really want to see how characters interact with, and dictate, the outcome of the event!

Those of you who are intersted, please take part in a discussion about the Plot for opening up the Healer Hall! You can find it [here].

July 2018

July was July-y.

June 2018

Welcome to the new month! Like always, I'm slack in getting the update up and running, but here it is! This month we have the event 'Summer Fling' - [Link] - which is turning out to be all kinds of entertaining already! Remember, it doesn't have to include smut! It could be an innocent date with some - *gasp* - hand holding!

This month also saw Gold Bedith of Mulrissa take to the skies! She was won by young Syrendryth of T'ryn! Congrats, and may your Hatching be less dramatic than the last one! The Hatching will take place in October so you have a lot of time to get Candidates created, approved, and posting up a storm!

Those of you who are intersted, please take part in a discussion about the Plot for opening up the Healer Hall! You can find it [here].

April 2018

Well, it’s halfway through the month which shows you how awful I am at keeping this stuff up to date, haha. Due to my slackness, there is no event this month, but the month of May will be hosting ’Lost Belongings’ wherein characters should find something they – or someone else – lost.

In the meantime, gold Okalinath of Kahleena has taken to the skies! You can find her Flight thread taking place on the 4th, here Currently, there is no planned winner, so be sure to throw your bronzes and browns her way! They do not need to be natives to Telgar Weyr to participate!

March 2018

Welcome to March, my friends!

Unfortunately, this month we don’t have any events set up, so we encourage you to wrap up threads and create some personal plots! Next month will be bringing in a new monthly event (Lost Belongings!) so you can always set your character up for that! If you have ideas for future Events, you can submit them here!. Additionally, you can see upcoming events here!

Speaking of new threads, be sure to submit your threads to the IC RP Timeline submission thread, so they can be added to the list! January 2018

Welcome to the New Year, one and all! We hope you had an enjoyable and safe holiday season, and we can't wait to see what your characters will get up to over the next twelve months (and beyond!). The Secret Santa Event has been extended until the 30th of January, so for those of you (like me!) who were busy over the end of December, we hope you can get your threads up and running over the next few weeks! There has been a lot of interesting interactions so far! As we extended the SSE, there won't be a specific January event this month! Don't worry though, we have something up our sleeve for February!

Our next PC Clutch will be in the new year, so now is the pefect time to join with old candidates (how many clutches have they stood for now?!) and candidate hopefuls! Get those eager young men and women out there and grow them so we can match them with their perfect lifemate when the new year rolls around and one of our lovely golds throws a clutch on the Sands -- At this point in time, the Weyrs are sharing Candidates, so your Candidate can be Searched by any Weyr, and transfer to the one holding the PC clutch!

August 2017

We are officially open for our relaunch, and are excited to meet and greet new RPers! We're currently looking for all types of characters, including Weyrleaders and goldriders! But we also have lots of room for green and blueriders, weyrfolk, candidates, and all types of Hall folk, such as Masters, Journeymen and Apprentices. If you have any questions, feel free to hit us up in the Cbox or Discord chats, which can be found on the lower part of the screen.

July 2017

We are currently having an event to Create Adoptables! And encourage everyone to take part!

History is almost complete, and the profile has been re-coded. All new characters will need to go onto the new profile, but all old can keep their current! We'll begin advertising properly over the next couple of weeks, once the history has been completed, and probably after the weekend of the 8th and 9th, because that is when ThistleProse is having her birthday.

June 2017

We are on the brink of relaunching! Our history is being rewritten and cleaned up! We are accepting new members, and old! Our advertisment has been re-written, and will be put out there soon. We are also accepting affiliates of all descriptions, genres and themes! If you would like to affiliate with us, please go here
We officially have two layouts! You can post here with any issues you find, or request any changes!

May 2017

Progress has slowed down a little, due to RL events (yay promotions! Boo no internet!) but we're getting back on track! Documents are still being written and we've put together a FAQs page, though its likely to recieve a lot of adjustments as we come across things. The current goal is to have everything set up and ready by July, but we'll see how well we go at that. And by we, I mean ThistleProse. lol.

April 2017

The layout is almost complete, but there is still a lot of work to be done; documents are being written up and can be found in the Site Map menu opion. Players can begin to move their characters' information to their Account Profiles, but be aware some changes may still be made and/or added.
If you find any bugs or issues, plese repot them here, and we will do our best to fix them in a timely manner.

N’mor came to with the drowsy, self-satisfied feeling born of a dragon who had gotten thoroughly fucked, and he groaned softly to himself, lifting his hand to rub his face; the patchy nature of his stubble indicated he’d been interrupted while shaving, and N’mor flailed around mentally to find the memories of what he’d been up to before ending up in what was apparently a rather comfortable bed. He wasn’t even sure where he was, which was confusing all on its own. Something told him he wasn’t at home in Ista, but that didn’t explain why he had been mid-shave in… whatever location he was at now. Rhezalth was no help, as the great lump of a bronze was curled up around his golden beauty, fast asleep and as irritated as N’mor was, he was disinclined to rouse his beast.

Turning his head as he lowered his hand to his stomach, N’mor found himself frowning at his sleeping bedmate; her brown hair was in a mess of tangles across her face and pillow, which N’mor was rather impressed by since she didn’t really have very long hair. Her puffy lips indicated there’d been a lot of mouth activity prompted by their dragons, and N’mor’s nose scrunched up just slightly. Why did his damned dragon have to be obsessed with golds? Why couldn’t he find a nice green mate that was bonded to a nice man?

Sighing to himself, N’mor sat up and took his part of the sheet with him, settling it over his lap and resting his chin in his palm. He shifted his balance carefully, and poked Helyna with his toes, before retracting his foot and watching her curiously. This was Rhezath’s third gold win, and his second with this particular pair. N’mor was tempted to bolt while she was still sleeping, but unlike their previous little get-together, this one was in the middle of the Weyr, and N’mor knew there would be no mistaking who had sired the clutch. Not that he hadn’t claimed the last clutch…. Eventually. But there would be none of that now, if only because N’mor had been thoroughly berated for his behaviour last time, which was kind of unfair. He had only been a child, and it wasn’t like Vaelya had been particularly insightful in post-flight behaviour. Or his father. Overall, N’mor decided, Weyrlinghood was quite lacking in some areas.

“Hello,” N’mor said dryly, when he realised Helyna was looking at him. Since his education in Flight Etiquette was clearly lacking, N’mor waited for Helyna to decide what the course of action would be – so long as it didn’t involve sex, because that was not happening. He brushed his hand over his half-shaved face again, still confused by being caught mid-shave in Fort, of all places. What had he been doing in Fort?

Helyna shifted with a sleeping mumble as she felt toes poke her leg. She ached all over and while she was definitely in her own bed everything felt subtly wrong. Iliyith? The smugly contented nonverbal reply confirmed her suspicions. The gold had Flown (finally) after nearly a month of acting Proddy. Reluctantly she opened her eyes to see who exactly she'd have to--politely--kick out of her bed.

Rhezalth again? Does he have some sort of sixth sense for when you Fly? It's been almost two years and he doesn't even live in this Weyr! Halfway through her silent interrogation of her dragon she realized N'mor was still watching her with that odd expression. Like he wanted to run or thought she would bite or maybe like he was as grossed out by this whole thing as she was. "Uhm," she said, eloquently, pulling the sheet up. "This is... unexpected. Are you going to run away again, or are we going to be adults this time?" She asked with an arching brow.

Turning away she stretched for her robe, slipping it on and tying it securely against the chill of the room. "You should probably stay till the morning at least. So the Weyrleaders don't chastise us again." She crossed to the fireplace, hoping to stir it up enough to warm the room up a bit, and giving him time to find his clothes or wrap the sheet more securely around his waist before turning back around.

"I need to wash up a bit, and you're welcome to do the same. Iliyith is ignoring me and your Rhezalth seems like he's not going to budge either since he was cheated last time by our mutual panic." She gave him a slightly teasing smile.

N’mor’s eyebrows twitched at Helyna’s question of adult behaviour, and he frowned at her. Obviously he wasn’t going to run away, or he already would have run away, preferably before the woman had woken up and seen him. Luckily – or unluckily, depending on one’s point of view – N’mor had been thoroughly grilled by R’nya last time, and he didn’t fancy repeating that experience. Ever again. Besides, while it had been rather easily ignored as his being so young, he didn’t have that excuse any longer, nor did he want it. N’mor could definitely do without the whole fucking a lady thing, but he could still let his dragon claim the Clutch – especially since Iliyith’s clutch hadn’t been anything like Nadioth’s and hopefully this one would be just as mundane in comparison!

A grimace was given to Helyna’s back as she said he should stay the night, and he took the opportunity of her turned back to wrap the sheet around himself securely, and leave the bed, collecting up his clothing as the fire was stirred to life once more. “Thanks,” it came out a little dryly, but N’mor was trying not to be particularly rude despite his desire to tell the woman to shove it. It wasn’t her fault they were in this situation, or that he was apparently in a bad mood as a result. N’mor chewed on his bottom lip and gave Helyna a softer look, not quite smiling, but his expression more resigned to the whole scenario than anything else. He watched as she made her way to the bathroom and set about collecting his clothing.

Not that he was going to sleep in any of it. Nor did he have any intention of sleeping naked with a woman. He was absolutely not going to give her any ideas he was interested in more. Most folk were pretty good about ending up in a Flight with a mated person, so N’mor found himself rather heavily betting that she wouldn’t get hand-sy, even if he did stay, because most of the Weyrfolk knew he was mated, though not everyone knew to whom. Mostly because N’mor didn’t feel comfortable broadcasting the fact that he’d moved in with a bluerider. He didn’t hide it, but nor did he prance around shouting it to the world.

Making his way to the door, the sheet still wrapped around him, N’mor was intending to wave down a drudge or someone and get them to collect him some spare clothing from the inventory he new Headwomen liked to keep on hand. Pulling the door open, though, his feet were assaulted by a pack that had been resting against the door, and N’mor looked down, eyebrows lifting when he saw it was one of his own. Squatting down, he picked up the note that had been slipped in carefully, sticking out enough to be visible but not float away. The quickly scrawled words in Z’rin’s handwriting made N’mor smile fondly. It didn’t say much of anything, just Z’rin’s name with a scribble that looked somewhat lewd and made N’mor snort in amusement.

“Idiot,” N’mor said softly, with deep affection, and picked up the pack of clothing and necessities his mate had taken the time to gather and bring to him. He didn’t know if Z’rin was still in Fort – and Rhezalth was certainly not feeling inclined to chat with him – but the thought was incredibly endearing and N’mor slipped back into the room with the pack, making his way to the small table and chair and setting his pack down and digging through it. When Helyna reappeared, N’mor gave her a much warmer smile. “Care package,” he said cheerfully, picking up the lazy day, soft and comfortable clothing and a razor as he passed the woman to go and clean up himself.

When he came out of the room, fresh and clean shaved, dressed in his barely-used but very comfortable pyjamas, N’mor was exhausted and feeling not so much the weight of the day as the weight of the Flight. Glancing around to see where Helyna had gone, N’mor set the carefully folded sheet down beside his pack. He had no inclination to wash it for the woman, but he also wasn’t so rude as to leave it sprawled on her bathing room floor like a monster. Brushing his hand through his damp hair, N’mor yawned.

Helyna refrained from commenting on the dryness of N'mor's tone. She was barely holding on to her own civility by the thinnest thread, and she could understand his frustrations. If she could have been a goldrider without ever having to interact--let alone sleep with--men, then she would gladly take that opportunity. There were more freedoms in a Weyr, but also some highly inflexible rules and expectations due to colorist opinions and draconic biology.

Scrubbing a hand over her face she excused herself and slipped into the bathing room, closing the door. She permitted herself a few moments of revulsion as she took stock of everything that had happened, then set about scrubbing away any trace of a Flight. Helyna resolved to ask for a quick trip between in the morning, sure Iliyith would permit Rhezalth to take her since the gold had held off nearly two years for Helyna to adjust to the idea of Flights in general.

Drying off, she reemerged into the main rooms. "Bathing room is all yours," she told him before he startled her with a cheerful smile over a pack of clothing and a razor. Well, at least his mood was improving! "You have a thoughtful mate," she said, smiling in return and stepping aside to let him freshen up.

She changed into a warm nightgown and quickly stripped the bed, figuring N'more didn't want the reminder of earlier any more than she did. Besides, he had her sheet. With fresh linens taken care of she yawns and debated crawling back into bed right away, but instead pulled a chair closer to the fire. Pouring a small glass of wine she pulled out her drop spindle to work a bit before he came back and clear her mind.

Thank you for the consistency at least. Not having to go through all this with a complete stranger.

Only a somewhat stranger? The sleepy voice was tinged with amusement. Helyna sat up straighter in the chair. Oh, so now you'll talk with me? Now that I'm not booting him out? Iliyith mumbled something about the ledge being warmer with two, and Helyna rolled her eyes but didn't push it.

Helyna heard the door open and looked up from her spinning. "Sorry if I was rude earlier. I was off balance. Just a bit."

N’mor startled slightly, hearing the voice beside the fire instead of … he wasn’t really sure where he expected Helyna to be, but finding her curled up by the fire and sewing wasn’t really what he had pictured. N’mor blinked at her, before shrugging one shoulder slightly, uncommonly aware of his stump and pleased it was once more hidden under his clothing. He – as a general rule – didn’t care what people thought about his missing limb, but found himself self-conscious of it at odd times, and with odd people. Such as right then. He ignored the oddity, however, and instead turned back to his pack, making sure his razor was set away where it wouldn’t ruin any clothing, and his clothing was set beside it, not in it, at least until he could determine what else was in it, and what the risk of them being dirtied was. Then he picked the note up that Z’rin had left him, running it absently between his fingers.

Is Zinnie still here? he queried his dragon, despite making his way slowly around the room and to the now cheerful looking fire. At least something in the room was happy with the company it had. N’mor’s lips twitched at the thought, but he frowned when he realised Rhezalth was ignoring him, and threw and irritated look at the wall that separated him from his dragon, knowing the lump of a bronze would sense the expression even if he couldn’t see it and wouldn’t respond to it. Puffing out a soft sigh, N’mor lowered himself gracefully onto the hearthstone, turning his back to the flames so it could warm, and glancing up at Helyna. “And I,” he said simply, in a rather delayed response to her comment. It was an apology, without coming out and saying as much. N’mor didn’t really say words like ‘sorry’ very often; not that he was never apologetic, but he was rather disinclined to put himself at the mercy of others, even if that mercy was just them accepting his apology.

“Flights don’t seem to agree with me,” N’mor said mildly, holding the note Z’rin had written curled under his three fingers, while he used his pointer and thumb to pick at a loose thread in the hem of his loose shirt. “I still have no idea how I ended up here,” he added, smiling wryly, “Though I expect Zinnie will be quite happy to fill me in on all the details when I get home.” While his voice was dry, the affection he felt for Z’rin was clear enough, despite him still picking at the hem of his shirt. Lifting his gaze, his sight fell on the bottle of wine, and his expression brightened noticeably. Shifting his weight forward, he picked up the bottle carefully and examined it; he didn’t take a swig or pour any, simply read the label and then raised an eyebrow at Helyna. “I’d have thought goldriders had access to better wines than this,” N’mor’s expression was serious, but his pale eyes sparkled with amusement as he wiggled the bottle side to side. “This is practically Katilan!” he added, smirking.

He forgot, in the moment, that Helyna had never actually been to Katila, and was unlikely to understand the jab.

She laughed a little with his candor about Flights, though not at him. “This is only my second, so I hardly have a lot to go off of. But I agree they are unsettling.” She wasn’t someone who enjoyed being out of control, and didn’t think he did either. Helyna set the spindle aside after carefully ensuring the twist wouldn’t creep into her undrafted fibers, and reached for her glass.

She could see the affection for his mate and it tempered her reactions to him. Not that she’d admit it, but she had taken care to find out what she could about him after the last Flight, especially once the Weyrleaders had firmly insisted on knowing the clutch’s sire. Headstrong and arrogant--what young bronzrider wasn’t--but also with a good deal of potential and ambition. Not limited by the loss of an arm. And apparently a good enough actor that most here thought the rumors of him mated to a bluerider were nonsense.

A slight flush crept over her face at the teasing over her choice of wine and her spine stiffened as she rose to the bait. “So what if we do; why would I waste the good stuff on a harsh winter night like this? Besides,” she looked away, not quite comfortable meeting his eyes suddenly, “it was a friend’s favorite, and it reminds me of home.” Helyna looked back over, trying to find a way to get her own back. “Do you want a drink or not? Or will anything less than a Benden white burn your sharp tongue?”

N’mor laughed outright as Helyna took the bait, and then some, with her spicy response and the flush he could just make out in the soft light of the fire behind him. He held his hand, and the bottle in it, to his chest in a cliché look of hurt. “My lady!” He exclaimed softly, as if deeply insulted by her words, though his mischievous eyes belied him. “My sharp tongue was shaped by the burn of Katilan moonshine,” He grinned, “Your bottled memories will hardly harm it.” Still smirking, N’mor rose carefully and beelined for a glass he’d seen sitting on the mantle, assuming it was the mate that went with the one Helyna was drinking from. It didn’t seem like an heirloom, or anything particularly important to go with her Memory Booze, so N’mor felt comfortable enough to take it back to where he’d been sitting, setting it down carefully and pouring the wine.

“’Good stuff’,” he said mildly, taking a sip from the wine in his glass and tilting his chin towards Helyna, “is particularly enjoyable on a harsh winter night when mulled with herbs.” N’mor’s taste for wine far outweighed his interest in such drinks as hot chocolate or klah, and while he was certainly not an alcoholic – he didn’t drink nearly that much! – he was prone to drinking wine in some capacity when others drank such warmed mugs. Though, perhaps, less so in the morning. Wine was wonderful, but it really wasn’t breakfast fare.

His expression shifted subtly, mischievous again, “No water,” he teased, peering into the glass after his second sip, as if shocked to find it full volume. “You are a very unbecoming goldrider!” He glanced up, eyebrows raised and smirk hidden behind the glass, wondering how quickly he might have to rise to his feet to dodge an incoming attack (most likely something thrown, if his experiences with Mylorah and her friends was anything to go by). Though, in reality, he didn’t find her unbecoming at all – at least in behaviour. Especially when compared to such disgraces as Casa, who put the sexual appetite of green dragons to shame with the way she let anyone (eww) between her legs, and Faranth knew where else.

N’mor’s nose scrunched up, and he dropped his gaze to his wine (one he was sure he wasn’t about to be assaulted), taking a rather heartier sip this time. At least Rhezalth knew (and was) better than to chase or – Faranth forbid – catch the golden firelizard known as Thallayth. N’mor thought he might actually discover the means of traveling between rather than succumb to that disgusting result. Screwing women was one thing, there was no way under their Thread free sky that N’mor was ever going to get anywhere near Casa like that (or in any capacity, if he could help it.) . Unfortunately, that thought process migrated towards his current situation, and N’mor looked up with a frown at Helyna. “Do you have a guest room?” he asked mildly, refraining from letting too much of any given emotion filter into the words. He hadn’t seen a couch in what he’d seen of her weyr, though that didn’t mean he wasn’t oblivious to one. He did prefer the idea of an actual bed, though his comment (he hoped) made it quite clear sex was definitely not in the cards.

“I beg your pardon,” she said with mock shock. “I am the very picture of a model goldrider. Very feminine and not at all indecorous.” She smirked at his teasing. “I only water my wine around important guests,” Helyna teased back. “Besides, would you really prefer a weak drink this evening? I know I wouldn’t.” She didn’t seem inclined to throw anything, or otherwise attack, despite his ribbing.

His question was unexpected and she looked up from her glass. “I do, but…” her face twisted slightly as she glanced at the door. “Well, I converted it to a work room. There’s a cot Von-” she quickly corrected herself, “I use from time to time, but I swear it will be warmer and more comfortable in the bed. We’re far enough out from the Flight, nothing else will happen tonight.” She could feel Iliyith’s comfort and satisfaction, but without the overwhelming urges from earlier.

She pulled her shawl closer around herself, then finished her glass. “Though I’ll leave it up to you. I’m happy to set it up with a few spare blankets.” She stood up and poured another small glass of wine. “But your virtue is safe with me; I’m afraid you like men a lot more than I do.” Helyna smirked slightly and went to put away her work from earlier, letting him process that.
