Month 05, 741 AL

North: Late Spring | South: Late Autumn
9.9 C to 18.4 C | 13.7 C to 24.5 C

Ista is heating up swiftly, and preparing for a rough summer - hopefully nothing like the one from a couple turns before with the wildfires! The rest of Northern Pern is warming upsomewhat slower, but with no less gusto as summer begins to creep into the sky, keeping the sun awake longer, warming the ledges of the weyrs. Rainstorms are sporadic, but keep the world well watered, despite the heat of the days.

The Red Star can be seen by those who choose to see it, causing no shortage of whispers that Thread will return - and just as much dismissal from those who do not believe. After all, it's been so long, surely it is no longer a threat! Weyrleaders are, regardless, beginning to put together wings in their Weyrs, if only to keep troublesome and bored riders busy.

Month 12, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Winter -3 - 2 C | 26 - 35 F
Fort is already home to snowfalls, though early in the month they fade away when the sun rises. As the month progresses, more snow stays on the ground, ending up with several feet of snow before the month is over. The areas around homes and populations has the snow shoveled away or trodden down. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove some danger and are routinely removed.

Ista Boundaries:
Winter, 9 - 21 C | 48 - 69 F
Generally warm enough to go about without a jacket on, Ista has low humidity but high chance of rain, generally in the form of vicious afternoon thunderstorms. The storms wash away any bite of heat the day had, and leave it feeling fresh for the night. The days are short, but grow bright quickly and the afternoons seem to be particularly short when heavy thunderstorms roll in and cover the sky.

Telgar Boundaries:
Winter, -5 - 0 C | 23 - 32 F
Bitterly cold, with icy winds constantly flowing down from the mountains. Freezing rain is almost constant; the sky always a murky grey and the ground slippery with slushy refrozen ice. The days are extremely short, with the nights dropping a good number below the daily average. Icicles attached to Weyr ledges prove a major danger, and are checked upon every day, with anything bigger than a fist being removed.

Month 07, 740 AL

Fort Boundaries:
Summer 27 - 38 C | 80 - 100 F
Light breezes down from the mountains tot he North keep the temperature comfortable, even when the sun can bake an egg on the edge of a weyr. Sunburn is common.

Ista Boundaries:
Summer, 34 - 43 C | 93 - 110 F
A very dry, dusty heat. Little to no rain, causing more than some to worry about the drought not breaking and the rest of the Isle being at risk of fires. Many seek the depths of weyr, hold or hall during the midday and early afternoon heat.

Telgar Boundaries:
Summer, 26 - 35 C | 79 - 95 F
Muggy, sticky and generally just plain humid. Thunder storms are regular occurances, often happening in the early afternoon or evening, with heavy rainfall before drying off sometime in the night. Mornings are usually crisp, but warm up swiftly.

Month 04, 740 AL
North: Early Spring | South: Early Autumn
−1.9 C to 4.7 C | 20.0 C to 29.0

Spring has sprung, with the snow slowly melting in much of the North, creating mushy grounds and greyish, icy snow piles that are doing their best to melt. In comparison, Ista finds itself naturally warmer, (~10C / 50) and many people who can find rides are making their way to the Island to spend some time in warmth and sunshine, away from the lingering touch of winter.

Katila is beginning to cool down to more reasonable temperature, but is no less muggy and uncomfortable to those who are not used to the seasons. It is still a good place to escape to when seeking a warm day or a nice swim at the lake, though.

Month 12, 739 AL
North: Early Winter| South: Early Summer
-3.1 to 2.1 C | 20.4 C to 29.4 C

Winter has come slowly to the Northern lands of Pern, with more rain and cold winds than snow. As the month progresses, more and more snow will fall, with frequent blizzard-like storms towards the very end of the month. Telgar and Fort will in particular become burried under mountains of snow, while Ista is sunjected to frequent icy rainstorms, and heavy winds coming in from across the ocean.

13.4 to 21.0 C | 13.8 C to 25.6 C

Following the disastrous fires (sometime in around the 28th of Month 08), Ista Isle has found itself suddenly in the midst of constant rain; not enough to flood, but a steady, dreary downfall that seems to only take a time out for a couple of hours here and there, before coming back again. Its cast the entire sooty Isle into a sombre and depressed mood. Alongside the rain, the weather is muggy and while not hot, is not particularly cool, either.

The rest of Northern Pern is getting their usual weather, though they, too, have been called to action following the wildfires that savaged Ista. Many individuals who called Ista Island home have been relocated not just to Ista Weyr, Ista Hold or Sea Cliff Hold, but also to other areas of Pern, whether with family or friends.

Month 08, 739 AL
North: Late Summer | South: Late Winter
17.4 to 25.5 C | 10.8 C to 23.2 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm - 37 to 45 C - has resulted in an incredibly dry summer, with little to no rain. This was climaxed by a dry thunderstorm, the results of which caused three fires to start across the Island on the 24.07.739 in the early morning hours. While the results of this are yet to be played out, the events will no doubt leave more than just the scarring of the land.

Month 07, 739 AL
North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter
18.0 to 26.6 C | 10.2 C to 21.9 C

Ista is still unseasonably warm, with average weather being in the 37 to 45 C range, making it now a more than slightly undesirable escape for the rest of the Northern population from the more enjoyable early summer weather. There has been very little in the way of rain, though the coastal areas are no stranger to the salty wind. Ista's limited farmlands and fields are dry and dusty, with golden straw instead of grass where there is any growth at all.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Northern areas are still getting a lot of evening rain and the occasional thunderstorms, which cools down the populus and allows them to sleep easily without sweating their brains out like the Istans.

There has been very little in the way of rain, though the coastal areas are no stranger to the salty wind.

Spring has sprung, with the snow slowly melting in much of the North, creating mushy grounds and greyish, icy snow piles that are doing their best to melt. In comparison, Ista finds itself uncommonly warm (~12C / 53.6) and many people who can find rides are making their way to the Island to spend some time in warmth and sunshine, away from the lingering touch of winter.

Month 11, 738 AL
North: Late Autumn | South: Late Spring

Autumn is coming to an end, with the days slowly becoming shorter still, with early nights and late mornings. The temperature is getting very cool, with jackets being more required, but it has yet to actually snow. Despite this, it is often raining and miserable.

The Southern contient is in full bloom, with flowers coming to life in the grasses and on the trees. The skies are bright blue with fluffy clouds, and occassional sunshowers bringing a dampness to the day. The nights are still crisp, but not cold. The ground is starting to dry up as water is absorbed by the blooming flora.

Month 10, 738 AL
North: Mid Autumn | South: Mid Spring

Autumn is in full tilt, with the leaves a shocking array of orange and red, and more of them on the ground than on the trees. The skies are often a clear and crisp blue, with a cool breeze flowing, shifting the leaves and sending them scattering. Rain is not common, but when it does roll in the skies are dark like night come early, and thunderstorms are not uncommon, though they don't last for long and the amount of rain that falls isn't too heavy.

The ground is starting to dry up as water is absorbed by the blooming flora.

Month 09, 738 AL
North: Start Autumn | South: Start Spring

Nothern regions are entering into Autumn, with the trees beginning to change to their reds and oranges, while the air is beginning to feel more crips. There are still more warm days than cool, and the nights are mostly warm enough for light bedding still. Rain has faded away and most days are clear and bright.

The Southern contient finds itself heading into spring, with rain and flowers vying for attention. The ground is often muddy and squishy, while the skies are either bright and blue, or overcast wtih fluffy clouds.

Month 08, 738 AL
North: End Summer | South: End Winter

Summer is winding to an end in the Northern hemisphere, with the weather slowly cooling and the trees beginning to turn their leaves. The days are still long and bright, but the sun is beginning to lose some of its strength.

The coastal Weyrs are falling victim to coastal storms, strong winds and heavy rains with thunder and lightening.

The more inbound Weyrs and Holds find themselves drier, not getting nearly as much rain or storms, they find themselves on the end of a long drought.

Month 07, 738 AL
North: Mid Summer | South: Mid Winter

Summer is in full spring in the Nothern hemisphere, with the bulk of each day being unbearbly hot, followed by vicious thunderstorms and heavy humidity in the evenings and at night.

The coastal areas are experiencing monsoon like weather, and spend a lot of their time locked away in Hold, Hall or Weyr.

The more inner locations find themselves faced with more dry heat during the day, and horrible humidity in the evening and at night while the thunderstorms rage.

ITS AN UPDATE! HOORAH!

I'm not dead, my loves! This month's Event is 'Close Call!' - have fun! Stamps will be uploaded and on display in our Discord chatroom.

There is a topic here for discussion about Pernese religions and belief systems, including in and out of Weyr opinions (variably and as a whole) in regards to delicate matters, such as birth, death, and the afterlife. Also, ghosts anyone? Now I'm imagining a giant arse dragon ghost....

Healer Hall is accepting Gold Candidates (just from Fort, for now) and R'nya will soon be discussing with his Weyrwoman Rhaedalyn the merits of bringing in additional female candidates.... on the condition they are approved for Healer Apprenticeship...

Thallyath, Casa's little gold dragon, will be taking to the skies for her maiden flight in the first week of April (IC date will be 740-04-01) and while a mate is already decided, this clutch will be PC and more candidates are ALWAYS welcome, whether you want them to Impress this round --- or not!

September 2018

Spring is here! ... In Australia, anyway!

This month’s riveting event is ‘Seas of Fun’, in honour of International Pirate’s Day! After all the drama with the fires, we expect that taking to the sea (or lake, river, pond, etc) would be a very relaxing way to spend some downtime for many dragonriders and Holderfolk alike!

In preparation for October, the even is “Memories of the Past”, which we hope will be a fun way to explore your character’s past, either in solo posts or threads, as inner monolog or as back posting! How you choose to partake is entirely up to you!

October will also see our next PC HATCHING! In order to have your Candidate qualify for Impression, they must have no less than 20 posts! There are lots of characters floating around who would be more than happy to help your Candidate breech that count! Don’t forget to also UPDATE YOUR APPLICATIONS where applicable, or make sure it is submitted at all! We can’t Impress your character if we don’t know what they should be getting!

As always, be sure to submit your threads to the IC RP Timeline submission thread, so they can be added to the list! While you’re at it, remember to submit your favourite quotes – from your character’s or others! – to the Quote Submission Thread! We want to see some recent quotes thrown in with our old ones!

If you haven't already, please drop by the Dragonrider Weyr Allocations thread, and let us know where your dragonriders call home. We are hoping to set up Wings across the three PC Weyrs over the next month or so, and your assistance is much appreciated! As a result, we will be looking for Wingleaders, Wingseconds, and of course Candidates for the clutches we have scheduled for this year!

August 2018

ITS AUGUST! Do you know what that means? It means its less than 4 months until Christmas! OMG.

Okay. So moving on! This month sees us (hopefully) wrapping up the Camp Kink event! Who doesn’t love an abundance of young adults exploring their sexuality without restraint? Its been a hell of a fun ride (haha get it?) so far! Can’t wait to see what the grapevine makes of it when words gets out … haha!

On a more serious note, this month will see us engaging in the Istan Wildfires! This event is a free for all! Feel free to have your characters interact with the event in any way you feel is suitable! There is a lot of room here for personal dramas, trouble making, hero worshiping, etcetera! We really want to see how characters interact with, and dictate, the outcome of the event!

Those of you who are intersted, please take part in a discussion about the Plot for opening up the Healer Hall! You can find it [here].

July 2018

July was July-y.

June 2018

Welcome to the new month! Like always, I'm slack in getting the update up and running, but here it is! This month we have the event 'Summer Fling' - [Link] - which is turning out to be all kinds of entertaining already! Remember, it doesn't have to include smut! It could be an innocent date with some - *gasp* - hand holding!

This month also saw Gold Bedith of Mulrissa take to the skies! She was won by young Syrendryth of T'ryn! Congrats, and may your Hatching be less dramatic than the last one! The Hatching will take place in October so you have a lot of time to get Candidates created, approved, and posting up a storm!

Those of you who are intersted, please take part in a discussion about the Plot for opening up the Healer Hall! You can find it [here].

April 2018

Well, it’s halfway through the month which shows you how awful I am at keeping this stuff up to date, haha. Due to my slackness, there is no event this month, but the month of May will be hosting ’Lost Belongings’ wherein characters should find something they – or someone else – lost.

In the meantime, gold Okalinath of Kahleena has taken to the skies! You can find her Flight thread taking place on the 4th, here Currently, there is no planned winner, so be sure to throw your bronzes and browns her way! They do not need to be natives to Telgar Weyr to participate!

March 2018

Welcome to March, my friends!

Unfortunately, this month we don’t have any events set up, so we encourage you to wrap up threads and create some personal plots! Next month will be bringing in a new monthly event (Lost Belongings!) so you can always set your character up for that! If you have ideas for future Events, you can submit them here!. Additionally, you can see upcoming events here!

Speaking of new threads, be sure to submit your threads to the IC RP Timeline submission thread, so they can be added to the list! While you’re at it, remember to submit your favourite quotes – from your character’s or others! – to the Quote Submission Thread! We want to see some recent quotes thrown in with our old ones!

January 2018

Welcome to the New Year, one and all! We hope you had an enjoyable and safe holiday season, and we can't wait to see what your characters will get up to over the next twelve months (and beyond!). The Secret Santa Event has been extended until the 30th of January, so for those of you (like me!) who were busy over the end of December, we hope you can get your threads up and running over the next few weeks! There has been a lot of interesting interactions so far! As we extended the SSE, there won't be a specific January event this month! Don't worry though, we have something up our sleeve for February!

With the end of December, our Christmas layout has gone back into hiding! You'll be able to use it again at the end of the year, when Christmas again rolls around. You can expect a new layout for the site in the near future.

December 2017

And so it is December! Can’t believe how fast this year is flying by! At any rate, we have LOTS of fun for you this month! For starters, why don’t you sign up for our Secret Santa Event! Pairs will be assigned on the 14th! You can sign your character(s) up as a Giver, a Receiver or Both! We also hope that you enjoy our Christmas layout, which will be available for use for the entire month of December! After that, it will go into hiding until next Christmas!

We will also be awarding the HORRIFYING MOMENTS stamps to those who qualified for them, as well as the WORDS OF THE MONTH for November. We hope you enjoyed these Events, and you can expect more of them in the upcoming year!

This month we will also be focusing on the RP Records, and request you submit all your threads here so we can update the Timeline! As it says in the thread, the Timeline will be updated every month, in the first week. To help us maintain, be sure to submit your threads as soon as you open them!

November 2017

Welcome to November! We'd love it if you would take the time to Vote in our Horrifying Moments threads! We will also be awarding Stamps for people who vote, not just those who took part! We hope you enjoyed this event as much as we did! You can see the Stamps that will be awarded in the Horrifying Moment's thread.

This month we are doing a 'Words of the Month' event! You can choose your word/s as indicated in the thread, and may particpate with as many characters as you desire! This contest has no voting to earn stamps; you get a stamp just for participating! Enjoy!

October 2017

Welcome to October! As part of our Halloween celebrations, the Horrifying Moments event is now open! You may START a thread at any point during the month of October to qualify it for the event! We hope you have a lot of fun with this event, and we look forward to reading your threads! Don't forget to "Like" the threads you enjoy most, so we can award someone the MOST HORRIFYING stamp! Stamps will be revealed later in the month!

September 2017

Welcome to September! This month, we're working on our Awards for the site! We are also advertising avidly! Please welcome any guests or new members with all that warm charm we know you all posess! That said, we are still seeking Affiliates, so if you're here to drop an ad, please consider us!

Our next PC Clutch will be in the new year, so now is the pefect time to join with old candidates (how many clutches have they stood for now?!) and candidate hopefuls! Get those eager young men and women out there and grow them so we can match them with their perfect lifemate when the new year rolls around and one of our lovely golds throws a clutch on the Sands -- At this point in time, the Weyrs are sharing Candidates, so your Candidate can be Searched by any Weyr, and transfer to the one holding the PC clutch!

August 2017

We are officially open for our relaunch, and are excited to meet and greet new RPers! We're currently looking for all types of characters, including Weyrleaders and goldriders! But we also have lots of room for green and blueriders, weyrfolk, candidates, and all types of Hall folk, such as Masters, Journeymen and Apprentices. If you have any questions, feel free to hit us up in the Cbox or Discord chats, which can be found on the lower part of the screen.

July 2017

We are currently having an event to Create Adoptables! And encourage everyone to take part!

History is almost complete, and the profile has been re-coded. All new characters will need to go onto the new profile, but all old can keep their current! We'll begin advertising properly over the next couple of weeks, once the history has been completed, and probably after the weekend of the 8th and 9th, because that is when ThistleProse is having her birthday.

June 2017

We are on the brink of relaunching! Our history is being rewritten and cleaned up! We are accepting new members, and old! Our advertisment has been re-written, and will be put out there soon. We are also accepting affiliates of all descriptions, genres and themes! If you would like to affiliate with us, please go here
We officially have two layouts! You can post here with any issues you find, or request any changes!

May 2017

Progress has slowed down a little, due to RL events (yay promotions! Boo no internet!) but we're getting back on track! Documents are still being written and we've put together a FAQs page, though its likely to recieve a lot of adjustments as we come across things. The current goal is to have everything set up and ready by July, but we'll see how well we go at that. And by we, I mean ThistleProse. lol.

April 2017

The layout is almost complete, but there is still a lot of work to be done; documents are being written up and can be found in the Site Map menu opion. Players can begin to move their characters' information to their Account Profiles, but be aware some changes may still be made and/or added.
If you find any bugs or issues, plese repot them here, and we will do our best to fix them in a timely manner.

Considering that winter was on the horizon, Madiquel was both warm and comfortable. She rather liked Ista, and was sad that she and her Papa hadn’t moved there originally. It was so much more like Katila than Fort was! The sun wasn’t quite as fierce as it was in the mid-summer months, but it was still warm and Madiquel was content with sitting out in it, her back pressed against A’tay’s as he held the big book Vaera had brought her from the Healer Hall. Madiquel, who had gotten used to the constant lessons the Healer Hall dealt out, had found herself somewhat bored between classes in Weyrlinghood. She had no doubt that it would have been more full-on if her dragon had been more regular, but as she wasn’t, Madiquel wasn’t undergoing the usual lessons.

Which left her bored, especially now it was obvious none of the three infants were about to just drop dead or not wake up the next morning or whatever. Which Madiquel had genuinely been afraid of, but was less so now. After promising that she would prioritise any and all Weyrlinghood lessons, Madiquel had gotten permission to low-key continue her studies for the Healer Hall. Nothing fancy, and certainly she wouldn’t be on level with her original classmates, but Vaera had been allowed to bring her heavy tomes upon occasion, and Madiquel dived into them. The current tome was on anatomy – bones and muscles and all that which made up the body. Currently, A’tay was flipping through the opening chapter, picking out bits and forming questions around whatever information he found, so that Madiquel could give the answer.

While they were chatting, Madiquel had let Zezeth wander off to entertain herself, mostly splitting her attention between Xyxyth, whom everyone but Xyxyth and A’tay seemed to realise she was madly in love with (and almost Dyoricath level of possessive of) and her brothers, whom she vastly enjoyed teasing and provoking, especially if it caused them to tussle, or ended with Dyoricath screeching about something. Zezeth, ever careful of Madiquel, always made sure that The Broken One wasn’t around when she teased the blues, because she knew someone’s particularly grating voice would cause the man distress. She figured The Broken One was good enough at blocking out dragons that if he wasn’t in sight, he probably wasn’t within hearing.

With Madiquel doing her learning with A’tay, and the other human halves of the partnerships scattered across the bowl, Zezeth entertained herself by playing with Xyxyth, bouncing around and practicing her attempts to get airborne; mostly she was working to strengthen the muscles. As lanky as Zezeth was growing to be, there was very little of her; she was still little more than skin and bones, all her constant eating appearing to simply fuel her growth, of which she was bolting through and leaving her brothers in her dust. At three months of age, Zezeth was akin to a normal sized green – at least in overall size. Her lack of mass was still concerning, but she otherwise appeared healthy and she was certainly happy enough.

When Zezeth got tired of bouncing and half-gliding with Xyxyth, she would rest by either flopping down on the grass beside the bronze, or by prancing off to tease her brothers, something she took great enjoyment out of. Currently, the two blues were minding their own business, but that very rarely stopped Zezeth from interrupting them. Bounding across the grounds from Xyxyth to where Erebuth and Dyoricath were, Zezeth leapt neatly over the much smaller blue, and tackled Dyoricath, chirping with laughter as they tumbled across the grounds, a rolling tangle of green and blue limbs. Zezeth gave a bugle of success when she pinned Dyoricath down, prancing off him and strutting on her way back to Xyxyth, thoroughly thrilled with her own magnificent defeat of the blue.

Unprepared for retaliation – though, honestly, she should have expected it – Zezeth gave a shriek of indignant outrage when Dyoricath tackled her as she made her way back to Xyxyth, the blue’s momentum sending them toppling and tackling, Zezeth outraged at the attack, hissing and spitting like a wild feline, though her eyes were more the colours of playful entertainment than any real rage.

Madiquel, who had only glanced up at Zezeth’s squawk, rolling her eyes good naturedly and leaning her head back against A’tay’s shoulder as she thought what the answer was for the current question, had any such thoughts of healing completely wiped from her mind with a sudden gasp at the strange stillness that fell over Zezeth; it was far more mental than anything else. Then both Madiquel and Zezeth let loose ear spitting shrieks of pain, the dragonet collapsing under Dyoricath with a spasm of limbs that was echoed by Madiquel as she twitched against A’tay’s back before collapsing against him as he turned around, her face stark white and eyes blown with pain. It felt like an eternity, but it only took the girl a few heartbeats to realise the horrible, awful pain radiating out of her hip wasn’t hers and she clawed anxiously at A’tay in an effort to stand up, clinging to her friend.

“Zezeth!” she shrieked, having absolutely no idea – either of them – how to block out the flow of pain the dragonet was flooding Madiquel with. It hurt so bad! Never having had a worse injury than a sprained ankle, Madiquel was sobbing and had a greenish cast to her face as she let A’tay help her make the way to her dragonet, shoving Xyxyth’s head aside by the nose, and then shoving Dyoricath aside; all she was aware of was that Zezeth was in such pain and everyone was crowding her dragon and she couldn’t get to her. “MOVE!” Madiquel finally screeched, her voice broken by pained sobs and the entire word far more of a foot stomping child’s demand than that of the Healer she was attempting to become.

Collapsing beside her dragonet, her left leg extended awkwardly from the phantom pain, Madiquel cuddled Zezeth’s head as she attempted to sooth her, looking up and seeking out A’tay with wild eyes. “Get Master Verec,” she begged, uncaring if A’tay himself went to fetch the Masterhealer, or ordered someone else to do it. The Journeyman healers were less present now, with the dragonets being healthier and less inclined to die without notice; Madiquel was sure they could or would pop up without question and quite quickly… but she wouldn’t let anyone but Masterhealer Verec near her Zezeth. He was the one that had studied their deceased siblings, and she knew from the hushed gossip Vaera had shared with her that he would be the only one to truly be able to help Zezeth.

Cuddling Zezeth’s head, Madiquel murmured reassurances to her dragonet, and tried to guide them both to having Zezeth block the pain from Madiquel – an effort that was improved when the Weyrlingmaster shoved his way to the inner circle to help guide them. By the time Verec arrived, while Madiquel was tearstained and looked awful, she wasn’t visibly affected by the brunt of Zezeth’s pain.

“It’s dislocated.” She said, trembling.

A'tay was doing his best to understand what he was reading and quizzing Madiquel on but he wasn't the strongest of readers so it sometimes took a bit longer to read and process some of the medical words and terms and then come up with a question for Madiquel. But she hadn't complained about the speed or his questions and seemed to enjoy the method of studying, so he kept at it, vaguely amused at the idea that he could be a Healer by the time they made it through the book. Next time he saw Eb'zer, maybe he could tease him about finding a goal and being the greenrider's rival.

That was clearly a long ways away as the idea crashed to the ground when Madiquel screamed in pain and A'tay spun around to see what happened only to get a arm full of his friend writhing in pain. He couldn't see anything wrong but when she screamed her dragon's name, A'tay saw Zezeth underneath Dyoricath and Xyxyth gently nudging at them as if checking on them and understood what had happened.

He helped Madiquel up and followed her to the dragons. He didn't like seeing her in pain or so upset and he knew the desire to be close to her bonded but A'tay wanted to pull her away so more experienced people could get in there. She wasn't trained enough for this and even if she was, she was riding too many emotions to think straight and might hurt Zezeth more. But it seemed she was being an overprotective clutch mother and keeping everyone away. That also made him want to drag her away. They couldn't help with her shrieking at them. But apparently she didn't think they actually were experienced enough and only Verec would do.

A'tay had a moment where he wasn't sure if he should go personally or find someone else to go so he could stay with Madiquel. I asked Syrendryth to take T'ryn. They know the way and the Hall well enough to not waste time. Leave it to his dragon to keep a cool head and find the logical answer. Grateful for that help, A'tay cautiously closed in on Madiquel and dropped to his knees a couple of feet away so he wasn't crowding her but could still offer his support.

"T'ryn's on his way to get Master Verec. You know how fast and focused he gets with a task. They'll be back here soon, promise." He hesitantly reached a hand out, wanting to comfort her by just a simple touch to her shoulder but refrained. She was still a bit wild-eyed and upset but the Weyrlingmaster was now demanding Madiquel's focus to help her work on separating the pain and remaining calm. That was more important and more helpful than anything he could currently offer.

T'ryn was currently at his desk making a list of reasons why he most certainly should not be Ista's new Weyrleader. he hadn't been approached about it but with Casa getting a promotion and word going around that she would help pick the Weyrleader, T'ryn was not taking any chances. He didn't want the job no matter how much his dragon did since he knew he wasn't a leader, at least not in that large of position. Wingleader. That's all he wanted.

But he couldn't help feeling like he brought this down upon himself. Sneaking into M'ris' office and having sex with Casa while jokingly calling each other Weyrleader and Weyrwoman while all the actual leaders were having a meeting to promote Casa to Weyrwoman... karma was a bitch. He just kept hoping he'd be overlooked thanks to there being a lot more older and more experienced bronzeriders for the task than one of Casa's classmates. Still, he wasn't risking it, again because karma was a bitch and why was his life like this?

He was on point number five when Syrendryth broke through his concentration and the wave of urgency hit him before any words. Zezeth is injured and they need us to get the Masterhealer right away. Her rider won't let anyone else help. T'ryn dropped shoved away from his desk, standing so quickly that he knocked over the chair and almost tripped on it as he rushed to gear up Sydrendryth. He wouldn't have bothered if he was making a trip alone but bringing back a passenger meant he needed more security and put all the training of the past in emergency gearing up to use.

Minutes later and the pair was off and landing by the Hall. T'ryn ran inside and for all his times visiting Madiquel or picking up Vaera, he still didn't know his way entirely around the Hall and certainly didn't know where Verec's office was or if he would even be in there. So he had to stop and ask for directions--which didn't work well. The first person scowled and walked by without a word leaving T'ryn wondering why it was so hard to at least say 'sorry, can't help you'. So he wandered a bit more and found two men talking and he approached them.

"Excuse me? Sorry to interrupt, but we've had an accident at Ista Weyr involving a dragon and I've been sent for Master Verec to help." One man gave him another look of distaste and rudely pointed out the Masterhealer was too busy to deal with dragons while the other told him to try a room down the hall where he thought he saw Verec earlier. T'ryn thanked them both--because he had manners, damn it--and took off down the hall... and found an empty room.

I could start bellowing. I'm sure that will attract enough attention and get the man out here. Syrendryth offered oh-so helpfully and T'ryn sighed again as he wandered back to the main area. Please don't. I don't want to explain your hissy fit and then never be able to show my face here again.

He was explaining the emergency to someone else when a familiar face was spotted coming around the corner and T'ryn knew she would help. "Sorry, thanks for the help," he told the man that hadn't been too helpful before calling out to Vaera.

"Vaera! Zezeth is injured and Madiquel will only let Master Verec help. Please find him and bring him out to the usual spot?" The amount of relief he felt when she agreed and took off to find Verec was impressive. But he didn't give himself long to enjoy it as he ran back to his dragon and took that time to double check the straps before his passenger arrived.

Which actually ended up being two passengers because Vaera refused to stay behind. T'ryn couldn't blame her and promised Verec that Syrendryth could handle carrying all three of them and quickly got them all into position so he could finally finish his task.

As they landed in the Bowl near the small crowd, T'ryn knew what reason six would be on his list--no one took him seriously or listened to him. Vaera did, though, and he tried again as he lightly touched her arm and shook his head. "We should stay back for now and give Master Verec the space he needs. We can check on Madiquel soon."

It was Vaera’s day off, though she didn’t have any plans for it. Just a day of not doing any work in particular. She was caught up on all her work, as usual, and since she had nothing pressing Vaera had been planning on doing a good deal of nothing all day. So far she’d been succeeding, at least until she wandered out of her room where she was lounging on her bed and reading a book not related to Healing to go find a snack. On her way back to resume her reading. Vaera heard her name, and turned to the voice, not expecting to see T’ryn today. She blinked at him as she processed the stream of words. Zezeth was hurt? Was Madiquel alright? Was it so serious that her father was needed? She nodded at T’ryn, saying she’d find him, and took off at a brisk walk.

Her father was usually in his office most of the afternoon, and that day was no exception. Vaera found him there reading through a sheaf of papers. He looked up when she knocked on the door frame.

“Da, Madiquel’s dragon Zezeth is injured, she wants your help, specifically. T’ryn’s here to give us a ride,” she told him, subtly inviting herself along with him. Verec raised an eyebrow at her but didn’t comment. Good. Her father knew better than to try to convince her otherwise. Madiquel was her friend.

They quickly made their way to where T’ryn and Syrendryth waited. Vaera was pretty sure moving quickly and efficiently was a required skill for Healers, and her father was particularly good at it. He asked T’ryn for further details on Zezeth’s condition as Syrendryth took them high enough for the trip between, and Vaera listened intently, but it seemed T’ryn didn’t have many details either. Vaera could tell that mildly irked her father - he preferred not to walk in blind if he didn’t have to, she knew. “Injured” was very vague after all.

Still, there wasn’t much time for worry because they were at the Weyr soon after, and Vaera thanked Syrendryth as she slid off him to follow her father towards Madiquel and Zezeth, the thin green splayed on the ground and Madiquel’s face rather pale. Vaera bit her lip, trying to figure out what was wrong. At least there wasn’t blood everywhere, right? She wanted to follow her father to the pair, but she felt T’ryn’s hand on her arm and stayed where she was, turning to look up at him.

“I know,” she said quietly, stepping closer to T’ryn and clinging onto his arm. It was more to keep herself from rushing over to her friend then anything, though if it helped T’ryn in any way that was good too. “Zezeth will be fine. Da’s the best at this sort of thing, and he likes Madiquel. He’ll make sure she’s fine.” Vaera believed everything she said, but saying it aloud helped reinforce it. Her father was the best, he was chosen to be Masterhealer, after all. Vaera knew he wasn’t the best at everything related to Healing, but injuries were something he was experienced with, and he always stayed calm, and he was good at thinking on his feet, and that was a good trait when working with dragons, Vaera thought, since so much of Dragonhealing had been lost. Didn’t stop her worrying about Madiquel and Zezeth, and she leaned closer to T’ryn, still worrying her lip between her teeth as she watched her father look Zezeth over and ask Madiquel questions.

There were a few people whose reports and updates Verec never wanted to read. There were various reasons for this, ranging from indecipherable handwriting to overly flowery language. The current update from the Master who oversaw Healers in Benden was full of completely irrelevant details and anecdotes Verec had no interest in, but the important details were so deeply mixed in with the bullshit he had to read the entire thing. Absolute waste of time.

His daughter arriving was a welcome respite from the excessively long letter, and while really he had things to be doing at the Hall, Verec almost jumped at the chance to get out and do some actual Healing, even if it involved dealing with dragonriders. He didn’t miss that Vaera invited herself to go with him, though somehow Verec doubted the dragonrider who was transporting them had been instructed to bring her too. It didn’t matter, there was no reason Vaera couldn’t come along. She knew how to act around injuries, though it usually wasn’t someone she was so close to involved - Verec had seen how close she had gotten to Madiquel while the girl was at the Hall, and knew how much paper she used writing letters to her now that she was back in the Weyr. Still, she wouldn’t get in the way, and may even be able to help Madiquel in some fashion.

Verec wasn’t entirely sure why Madiquel wanted him specifically, as Eb’zer or L’gan were capable of handling almost any injury the young dragon could have gotten. He tried to get more details from the bronzerider - T’ryn, Verec knew his name, the boy had been around the Hall often enough visiting Madiquel or even Vaera, but he didn’t feel overly inclined to use it - but it seemed he had been told essentially nothing, which was annoying. It was always best to have as much information as possible, and he didn’t like going into things blind. He could, but it added extra steps.

When they reached their destination Verec walked immediately over to Madiquel and the green dragon next to her, looking over everything and assessing the situation. It seemed Madiquel had an idea, since she told him ‘it’ was dislocated - her leg, presumably, since it was in something of an odd position, even with his little knowledge of dragons. From first glance, Verec was inclined to agree with her, but he wasn’t going to accept it as fact just yet, not without learning a bit more.

“What happened?” Verec asked Madiquel, moving in to gently run his hands over the dragon - Zezeth - gently feeling the area around the hip socket. “Describe her pain for me, please.” It was definitely dislocated, but Verec wanted to make sure there wasn’t anything else they had to worry about before they went about putting the joint back in place. In any case, they were going to have to sedate Zezeth and probably Madiquel as well. Once Madiquel had finished speaking and Verec had finished checking Zezeth over, it seemed unlikely there were any other injuries they needed to worry about. Verec thanked Madiquel for her help, even giving her a compliment for her thoroughness of describing everything - her lessons had clearly stuck, which was helpful, and he rather hoped she might return to the Hall after her dragon was grown. He then turned to the Weyrlingmaster, who was right there next to Madiquel and Zezeth as well, and asked him a few questions about dragonet physiology at this age. Verec had been involved in sedating a full grown dragon before, but he wasn’t as sure of the effects on such a young one, and after a short conversation the two men decided it would be best for Zezeth if they sedated Madiquel instead, and rely on the bond between them to sedate Zezeth as well, but without putting anything in her more delicate body.

“Are you alright with that, Madiquel?” Verec asked, after making sure she understood why they wanted to go with this option. Thankfully, with a dislocation a few minutes of discussion wouldn’t cause any further complications and as long as Zezeth didn’t try to put weight on it the pain wouldn’t get worse at this point. Until they tried to pop the leg back in the socket, anyway. That would hurt a lot, thus the sedation.

B’kit had been enjoying the sunny day, working on embroidering a shirt while the dragonets played. It was a gift, and he had been working on it for a while to get it ready in time. Erebuth snapped idly at his sister as she vaulted him, grumbling at being used as an obstacle. She was so annoying sometimes- Erebuth just wanted to be left alone with his toy.

He snorted in annoyance as she pranced away, then hurried up out of Dyoricath’s way as he retaliated, though not quickly enough to avoid his tail being stepped on. Yelping, he joined the tussle and was pulling ineffectually at Dyo’s tail when Zezeth suddenly went quiet before all hell broke loose. Erebuth scrambled back, tripping over himself and tumbling tail over head trying to get out of the way. Zezeth? he ventured cautiously as the humans came running. His head swung to their brother. What did you do?

Kitt tossed the shirt at the basket he’d brought with him, sprinting over to see if he could help. He spared a moment to help Erebuth get himself righted, then went to check on the others. He helped tug some of the would-be helpers out of the way to let Madiquel get to her dragonet, and blanched as he saw Zezeth’s leg.

“Come on, give them some room,” he managed to say, moving back with some of the others, pointedly. He was about to run off for L’gan or Eb’zer when she suddenly insisted on Master Verec. Well, he wouldn’t argue. Still, maybe one of the others could help. He was about to suggest that when he got a look at Madiquel’s face and felt the words die on his lips. At least he could keep too many people from crowding them.

Dyoricath had been enjoying the weather until Zezeth decided he was her favorite toy and slammed into him. Shrieking in annoyance he clung onto her, the momentum from her leap carrying both of them into a roll, and they tumbled over until eventually they came to a stop, with Dyoricath on the ground desperately trying to keep his wings neatly tucked away and Zezeth taking advantage of that to pounce on him. He snarled at her, snapping his jaw at her without actually trying to bite.

Glaring after her as she bounced off, Dyoricath gathered his legs up under him from his undignified, sister-induced sprawl, tail tip twitching irritatedly. After a moment of deliberation he launched himself forward, barreling into her side and grabbing onto her, screeching the entire time. Again the momentum carried them forward, but this time instead of going into another roll of playful grappelling they simply hit the ground, hard. Dyoricath ended up on top this time, but his moment of triumph was short lived, because Zezeth shrieked. Not the playful shrieks of moments before, or Dyoricath’s well-known angry shrieking, but genuine shrieks of pain.

Eyes wide and whirling, Dyoricath scrambled off Zezeth, whining softly. What happened? He saw the way Zezeth was holding her hind left leg awkwardly, and started panicking a little. I broke her, Dyoricath wailed to Sh’ran, who had started running to his dragon as soon as he felt the shock at Zezeth’s shrieking and pain. The blue hovered awkwardly around his sister, pacing around her, reaching out his nose to touch her than pulling back, afraid he’d hurt her more. Xyxyth joined him moments later. While his dragon worried over Zezeth, Sh’ran stood back a few paces, giving him a little space, and knowing he would be useless at figuring out what needed to be done to help Zezeth. He repeated reassurances, that Zezeth would be okay, Dyoricath hadn’t broken her, it was an accident…

It was only a few more moments before a sobbing Madiquel arrived, shoving Dyoricath out of the way, who squeaked and moved to slink around Sh’ran, head low as he nervously watched the green pair. Sh’ran stroked his dragon’s neck softly. They stayed there, close but just out of the way, as the Weyrlingmaster arrived to help, and then the Masterhealer - Masterhealer. Misha bit his lip nervously as Dyoricath moaned quietly. Had he hurt her so bad they needed to get, as he understood it from Sh’ran, the best Healer around? He hid his head against Sh’ran’s side, shrinking in on himself in shame and concern.

“I… Yes.” Madiquel said firmly, her gaze having danced between the Weyrlingmaster and the Masterhealer as they had spoken. She was feeling a bit more herself, but she could feel the pull of the bond between herself and Zezeth and the overwhelming pain the dragonet was in every time her muscles twitched. Her eyes had rolled spectacular colours when Verec had been poking and prodding at the wound, but Madiquel had done her best to explain to the dragonet what would be happening to her, once the healer arrived, and assuming she was correct about the dislocation. Madiquel felt some pride at Verec’s praise though all she gave was a quick nod and a ghost of a smile. She wished she could have received such words in a less personally dire situation! She felt a flitter of Zezeth’s amusement.

Straightening her shoulders, Madiquel nodded again, firmly. “Yes.” She turned to look at Zezeth and stroked her dragon’s nose as she quietly explained what was going to happen, as best she understood it, with occasional interjection by the Master when he felt necessary. When the medicine was handed to her, Madiquel’s curiosity outdid the pain – for a moment, anyway – and she asked with great interest what was in it, listening intently to the reply even as she threw the liquid back with a grimace. Setting the cup down, and barely noticing when it was moved away, Madiquel sat and stroked Zezeth’s nose some more, her eyebrows furrowed as she felt the drug worm its way through her, making her feel at first lightheaded, and then drowsy. Smiling in a slightly drunk way, Madiquel brought down what little barriers she’d built between herself and her dragon and felt Zezeth’s come down too. The pain flowed through her, but it was mellow and quickly outweighed by the overwhelming need to sleep.

Madiquel passed out first, kind of collapsing in on herself; Zezeth made a strange little mewing sound, before also relaxing into a drugged sleep. She wasn’t as deeply affected as Madiquel, but between Madiquel’s drugged state, and all the emotional stress of the current situation, Zezeth was well out of it.
